    Obituary:
Marcellis J. Bricco (Sib) age 89, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph Residence in New London, WI on January 10, 2015. He was born on April 12, 1925, in Bear Creek, WI to the late Simon Bricco and Evelyn (Thebo) Bricco.
Sib left school and began work at an early age to help support his family, including threshing on local farms. After the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, he traveled to Hawaii with the intent to join the Army. However, he was told they wouldn't accept him because he had flat feet. He then worked for contractors employed by the Army and Navy to do the clean-up of Pearl Harbor. Later he joined the Merchant Marines where he sailed the Pacific working on and rescuing ships and saw many places during WWII. There were quite a few interesting stories from those years. Sib was accepted into the Army during the Korean conflict and received the rank of Sgt First Class (SFC). He was proud to serve his country in the artillery and be in charge of his "155 gun with the 6" barrel". At that end of the Korean War he was not yet ready to head home, so he headed north to Greenland and was employed by the North Atlantic Construction Co. working for the Army Corp of Engineers building an airport, roads and worked with explosives. It was a cold desolate area, but spoke fondly of his time there and the hard work.
He returned home to Bear Creek, WI in 1954 and was employed by Borden Cheese in New London (later Saputo) until he retired at age 65. He also continued to help on area farms when needed and some occasional part-time work. His brother Gaylord introduced him to Audrey M. (Wessely) Bricco, and they were married May 12, 1956 in Pilsen, WI. Their home was in a rural area near Mosquito Hill outside of New London. They loved living in the country and having a very large garden. Sib was involved at his church, Most Precious Blood, the Knights of Columbus, league bowling (men's league and couples league), pitching horseshoes and in later years played some golf. He loved hunting and fishing, and deerhunt season was the focal point of his year. He loved playing cards, shaking dice, watching the Packers and enjoyed his beer and vodka gimlets.
