    Obituary:
    Anita D. Marks, 92, Appleton, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital on Friday, Oct. 9, 2009. She was born on Oct. 9, 1917, daughter of the late Ben and Natalie (Deshaney) Marks. Starting at the age of 19, Anita worked for the Appleton Mills for 46 years, retiring in 1982.
    She was an avid Packers fan and loved gardening, especially raspberries and garden lilies. Anita was very determined and hard working. She was very proud of her home that she bought herself. Spending time at family get-togethers and playing with her dog, Brandy, was very important.
    Anita is survived by her brother, Ken Marks, Appleton; sister-in-law, Jane Marks, Menasha; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    She is preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia (Charles) Kopelke and Jane (Norm) Schabow; brother, Ben Marks, Jr.; and sister-in-law, Betty Marks.
    The memorial service for Anita will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street, Appleton, with the Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.
    The family would like to extend a special thank you to a good friend, and neighbor, Bernie, and the staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital for all their wonderful care of Anita.

    Virginia Kopelke, 88, Appleton, passed away Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center following a short battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 6, 1919, in Appleton, daughter of the late Benjamin and Natalie (DeShaney) Marks. She married Charles Kopelke on Sept. 29, 1938, sharing 34 years together before his death in 1972. Virginia always enjoyed working and spending time in her flower garden.
    Virginia is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Kathleen Kopelke, Appleton; David and Pam Kopelke, Greenville; a brother, Kenneth Marks, Appleton; a sister, Anita Marks, Appleton; and five grandchildren, Richard Kopelke, Brian Kopelke, Scott Kopelke; Ashley Kopelke and Michael Kopelke.
    She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Schabow and a brother, Benjamin Kopelke Jr.
    Private services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park.
    The family would like to thank the staff at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center for the wonderful care Virginia received. The family would also like to express a very special thank you to Virginia's niece Lori Fritz, for her love and care during Virginia's stay.

    Mary Jane Shabow, age 84, passed away unexpectedly Monday, December 24, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born February 10, 1923, in Appleton, daughter of the late Ben and Nathalie (DeShaney) Marks. She married Norman Schabow, May 26, 1942, at St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church, Appleton, sharing 53 years together before his death December 6, 1996. Mary Jane was a member of St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church. She enjoyed collecting Angels, tending her African Violets, being an Elvis fan, reading, working crossword puzzles and sharing French Silk Pie with family and friends. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Michael and Ellen Schabow, Appleton; Mark and Lori Schabow, Shiocton; a brother: Kenneth Marks, Appleton; two sisters: Anita Marks, Appleton; and Virginia Kopelke, Appleton; eight grandchildren: Richard (Susan) Schabow, Michelle (James) Klein, Tina (Jason) Napier, James Schabow and fiancee Genelle, Joseph Schabow and friend Jessica, Greg (Mary) Schabow; Janel (Ross) Losse, Derek Gullickson; seven great-grandchildren: Christopher (Breanna) Schabow, Kimberly Schabow, Amber Schabow, Alyssa Klein, Nicole Klein, Abby Jane Napier, Josie Napier; seven sisters-in-law: Janie Marks, Enid Schabow, Jean (Orlo) Sasman, Marian Merkl, Jean Karweick, Helen (Eugene) Brahm, Ila Schabow, a brother-in-law, George Franzke; special neighbors: David Woehler and Pauline Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.
    She was also preceded in death by a brother Ben Jr., three sisters-in-law and six brothers-in-law.
    Services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2007, at Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Rick Ribble officiating. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral chapel on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established.

    Kenneth E. "Kenny" "Opa" Marks, age 85, of Appleton, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2011. He was born April 13, 1926, in Appleton, son of the late Benjamin and Nathalie (Deshaney) Marks. Kenny married Elizabeth Koleske on November 15, 1948. She preceded him in death on April 26, 1997. Kenny served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked for George Banta Printing Company retiring in 1988. Kenny enjoyed model railroading and enjoyed sharing his passion with his great-grandson Reese who gave him the name "Opa."
    Kenny is survived by three sons, David (Eriko), Tokyo, Japan, John (Cathy), Appleton, and Steven (Cindy), Neenah; seven grandchildren, Benjamin, Christopher, Alison, Jeremiah, Megan, Daniel and Laura; two great-grandchildren, Reese and Jackson; a sister-in-law, Jane Marks.
    He was preceded in death by a brother, Ben and three sisters, Virginia Kopelke, Anita Marks and Jane Schabow.
    The memorial service for Kenneth will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Wichmann Funeral Home with Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
    Special thanks to his caregiver, Carla who became a very "special" friend, "best" friend and neighbor Bernie and hospice nurse, Tammy for all their care and compassion.
