Biography:
FREDERICK BENTLE, who is extensively engaged in agricultural pursuits in the township of Greenville, Outagamie county, has spent his entire career as a tiller of the soil, and has a thorough and practical knowledge of agricultural conditions here. He is a native of Winnebago county, Wisconsin, and was born September 20, 1863, a son of Flarie and Sophia (Schefe) Bentle. Flarie Bentle was born in Ohio, and came to Outagamie county when he was fourteen years of age, his father having been killed during the Mexican War. For some years he was engaged in working as a farm hand, but finally purchased some land in Winnebago county, and there he was engaged in farming up to the time of his death, in 1893, his widow surviving him only two years. Frederick Bentle is one of a family of six children, and his education was secured in the district schools of his neighborhood. He was reared to be a farmer, and his boyhood and youth were spent in work on his father's farm and those of the neighbors who needed his services, and when he was twenty-six years of age he bought his present property in Greenville township, upon which he has made numerous improvements. He has remodeled and repaired the residence and barns, in addition to erecting numerous outbuildings for the shelter of his stock, grain and live stock, and now carries on general farming and stock raising, marketing hogs, cattle and dairy products and such hay and grain as he does not feed. He has other interests, among which may be mentioned stock in several Oklahoma oil companies. During the past fourteen years he has served very acceptably as treasurer of his school district. In 1888 Mr. Bentle was married to Anne Zachow, who was born in Clayton township, Winnebago county, daughter of John Zachow of that township. Four children have been born to this union, namely: Clara, John, Ella and Lawrence.

Age 86, passed away at 4:15 p.m. Monday, August 16, 1965,in Appleton, WI. He was born on August 14, 1879, in the Town of Clayton, WI, the son of Flara & Sophia (Schefe) Bentle. He owned and operated cheese factories in the Towns of Greenville and Ellington from 1907 until his retirement in 1946. He then moved to Appleton and was employed at Appleton State Bank.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine; three sons, Ralph (Alice) Bentle and Earl (Margaret) Bentle, both Appleton; Milton (Florence) Bentle, Hortonville; and 4 grandchildren; Richard, Robert, Jean and Sharon Bentle.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 1965, from Trinity Lutheran Church with Dr. I.B. Kindem officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home after 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 1965, until 10 a.m. Thursday and then at the church until the hour of the service.

Age 87, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 1999, in Franciscan Care Center, Appleton, WI. He was born on February 6, 1912, in Greenville, WI, son of Leonard & Josephine (Pingel) Bentle. Earl owned the Bentle Brother's Cheese Factory with his brothers, Ralph and Milton for over 30 years until his retirement in 1977. Before that, he and his brothers worked with their father at the cheese factory. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Appleton.
He is survived by a son, Richard (Sharon) Bentle, Maumee, Ohio; four grandchildren, Michael, Patrick, Michelle and Kathleen; two brothers Ralph Bentle, Appleton, and Milton (Florence) Bentle, Hortonville. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Margaret.
Funeral services will be held on February 11, 1999, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 209 S. Allen Street, Appleton,with the Rev. Kevin Ruffcorn officiating. Internment will be held at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 until 8 p.m. and again at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Age 79, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2001, surrounded by his family. Boots was born on July 10, 1921, in Appleton, WI., son of the late Leonard & Josephine (Pingel) Bentle. On April 27, 1946, he married the former Florence Hartsworm at John's Congregational Church in Appleton. Boots served in the US Army Signal Corps during WWII from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945. He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Stephensville and served on their church council. He was a member of the Shiocton & Black Creek American Legion Posts, served on the LaFollette School Board and was a volunteer fireman for the Hortonville Rural Fire Department. Boots owned and operated Bentle Brothers Cheese Factory along with his brothers until 1977; he then drove milk truck for Weyauwega Milk Products until his retirement in 1990. Boots enjoyed farming, fishing and spending time outddors working in the yard, but his favorite pass time was enjoying the company of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Boots is survived by his wife, Florence; their three children, Robert (Donna) Bentle of Hortonville; Jean (Gavino) Martinez of Appleton; Sharon Bentle of Shiocton; eight grandchildren, Thomas (Lynn), James and John Bentle; Robert (Heather) and Aaron Martinez; Dennis (Michelle) Guyette, Pamela (Nieves) Fortuno, Beth Guyette and nine great-grandchildren. Boots is furthur survived by a brother, Ralph Bentle, of Appleton; three sisters-in-law, Isabelle Elgeti, Harriet and Angeline Hartsworm and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Bentle; two sisters-in-law, Margaret and Alice Bentle, three brothers-in-law, Earl and George Hartsworm and Howard Elgeti. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Stephensville, the Rev. Joel Lillo officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 13, 2001 from 4-8 p.m. and again on Wednesday directly at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Lucille Ella Peterson age 96 of Larsen, WI died early Saturday morning at Eden Meadows Nursing Home, Oshkosh, WI. She was born on February 11, 1918 in Appleton, WI the daughter of the late Herman and Clara (Bentle) Schmidt. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church of Appleton. She graduated from Appleton High School. She was employed at Zwicker Knitting Mills until her marriage to Milton Peterson on September 14, 1940 at Trinity Lutheran Church. They made their home and farmed in the Town of Winchester their entire married lifetime. Milton preceded her in death on January 23, 1991.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Winchester, WI, where she had served on the funeral luncheon committee. She enjoyed baking, cooking and was an avid reader.
Lucille is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Gerald Peterson and Bruce and Mary Peterson all of Larsen, WI. Two grandchildren, Michael Peterson of Larsen, WI and Amy and Michael Korth of New London, WI and two great grandchildren, Lora Korth and Zachary Korth.
Along with her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by one son Ronald and one brother Raymond Schmidt.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday April 16, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Winchester, 8396 Steeple Hill Dr. Larsen, WI, with Pastor Dan Luett officiating. Burial will be in Grace Lutheran Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 to the time of the service. A memorial is established to Grace Lutheran Church.

Norman B. Julius, age 90, of Greenville, went to his heavenly home on Monday, February 18, 2013, at Living Tree Estates in Greenville. He was born on September 28, 1922, son of the late Urvan and Ella (Bentle) Julius. Norman farmed his entire life on the family dairy farm that was established in Greenville in 1877. On October 26, 1946, he was united in marriage to Virginia M. Diley at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenville where he was a longtime member. Virginia preceded him in death on July 18, 2012. Norman was very active in the Greenville community, serving in many clubs, specifically the Greenville Civic Club. He also served his community as a Outagamie County Board Supervisor from 1972-1990. Norman had many fond memories of his time spent at his cottage in Three Lakes with family and friends. During his life, he also enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, flying his airplane, and trips to Arizona. In later years, motorcycling became Norman and Virginia's passion as they traveled around the country.
Norman is survived by a daughter: Linda (Richard) Kester, Pearce, AZ; daughter-in-law: Diane Julius, Greenville; grandchildren: Ryan (Stephanie) Julius, Greenville; Craig Julius, Appleton; Kara (Joe) Wittlin, Appleton; two great-grandchildren: Jackson and Masen Julius; a sister Dorothy Asmus, Winneconne; two sisters-in-law: Jean (Kenneth) Fredricks, Fremont; Nila (Adrian) Sommer, Three Lakes. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sons; David Julius in December 2010 and an infant son at birth; brothers-in-law Warren Diley and Arlen Asmus; also sisters-in-law Mabel Diley and Phyllis Diley.
The Christian Funeral for Norman will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at 10:00 am. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenville with Rev. Joel Heckendorf officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A visitation for Norman will be held directly at the church on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
The family would like to thank the staff at Living Tree Estates and Southern Care Hospice for their compassionate care and concern for Norman, and also all the visits by family and friends.

David L. Julius, age 55, Greenville, was called home by his Savior on Friday, December 10, 2010, surrounded by his loving family while holding the hand of his wife Diane. Dave, son of Norman and Virginia (Diley) Julius, was born on July 24, 1955, in New London. On July 3, 1977, he was united in marriage to Diane Schaenzer at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Hortonville. Dave was a member of the Greenville Fire Department since 1978. He was very passionate about serving the Town of Greenville as Fire Chief and Fire Inspector since 2001 and truly loved his job. He also owned and operated a dairy farm from 1976 to 1992. Dave enjoyed spending time at the river, and up north at the cottage. His pastimes included logging, woodcutting and a little fishing. He was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Greenville.
He is survived by his wife Diane; his children: Ryan (Stephanie) Julius, Greenville; Craig (Sarah) Julius, Clintonville and their children, Levi and Layna Ritchie and Jackson Julius; Kara (fiance, Joe Wittlin), Greenville. A sister, Linda (Richard) Kester, Pearce, AZ. Father and mother, Norman and Virginia Julius, Greenville; father and mother in-law, Jean and Joann Schaenzer, Hortonville. brother and sister in-laws: Jim (Shelly) Schaenzer, Greenville; Dennis (Paula) Schaenzer Appleton; Steve Schaenzer (special friend, Jennifer Sommers), Hortonville. Visitation will held on Monday, December 13, 2010, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Greenville from 3-8 p.m. and also on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the Greenville Fire Department and 1st Responders, Town of Greenville Employees, family and friends and all the contributors and volunteers of the benefit held for Dave in June.
