    Obituary:
Walter "Wally" Gerrits, 52, Bellevue resident, was reunited with the love of his life, Debbie, on December 12, 2016. He passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at a local hospital, with his family by his side. He was born on August 25, 1964, in Green Bay to late Harold and Audrey (Heyrman) Gerrits. Wally graduated from Green Bay Preble High School in 1982. He married the former Debbie Ronsman on April 25, 1987, at Holy Martyrs Catholic Church.
For many years he proudly served the Bellevue community by being a volunteer firefighter, retiring as a captain. Wally is best known as one of the finest auto body technicians in the community. He was employed by Gandrud Auto Body Shop for the past 15 years. Wally enjoyed time at the cottage, riding his motorcycle, hunting, and fishing. As a father, he was extremely proud and supportive of his children's accomplishments in sports, academics, and their careers. Wally was the "go to" guy, never too busy to help family and friends, particularly when it came to automobile repairs.
He is survived by his children, Eric (Katie) Gerrits of Baton Rouge, and Brittany Gerrits of Bellevue; Siblings, Mike (Barb) Gerrits, Tom (Cheryl) Gerrits, Andy (Lynda) Gerrits, Catherine (Jerry) Pinchart, Laurie Larscheid (Mike O'Reilly), Patti (Dale "Shorty") Leiterman and Mike Konyn; He is also survived by members of Debbie's family: her parents, Dale and Rose Ronsman, siblings: Randy (Kim) Ronsman, Kathy (Wayne) Gaura, Kevin (Jackie) Ronsman, Gary (Sally) Ronsman, Sandy (Mark) Debbink, Pat Ronsman, Brad (Michelle) Ronsman and Lisa (Jim) Radart; his godchildren held a special place in his heart, Tyler Gerrits, Kimberly Larscheid, Bobby Leiterman, and Alex Ronsman; Wally is further survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and his Bellevue Fire Department family.
Wally will be greeted in heaven by his wife, Debbie, his parents, Harold and Audrey Gerrits, his brother, Paul Gerrits, and his sister, Jenny Konyn.
Friends may call AT PRINCE OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 3425 Willow Rd. from 3:00-7:30 pm THURSDAY, where he was a member. Parish wake service 7:30 pm Thursday. Visitation will continue Friday after 9:30 am at the church until time of Mass. Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate his life at 11:00 am Friday with Rev. Daniel Viertel officiating. Burial to follow in the Holy Martyrs Cemetery.
Wally's family extends their gratitude to Bellevue Fire Department, County Rescue and the staff at Aurora Baycare Hospital's ICU for their compassionate care. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy a memorial fund will be established in Wally's name. On-line condolences may be sent to the Gerrits family at www.prokowall.com.
Brittany would like to extend special thanks to Dee Thetford, Becca Slick, and Lindsay Hermsen for their support.
