Obituary:
James H. "Whitey" Filen, age 76 of Appleton, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 22, 2014. He was born July 2, 1938 in Appleton to the late Howard and Margaret Filen. He married Marie Brouillard on September 12, 1959.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish especially on Lakes Winnebago and Poygan. He also loved to deer hunt with his children and grandchildren. Jim and Marie also went 4-wheeling for many years in Northern Wisconsin with friends. They also enjoyed traveling the U.S. especially Florida, Texas and Tennessee. Jim frequented the Queen Bee Restaurant so much they named an entrée after him, the 'Whitey Omelet'. Jim was an avid Brewer fan and rarely missed listening to a game. Jim served his country in the Navy and the National Guard and was honorably discharged. Jim worked at Fox River Paper Co. and retired after 37 years. He also worked as a courier for Ford Pharmacy and US Pack for several years during his 'retirement' years. Jim was willing to help anyone at any time without thinking what was in it for him. Jim touched many people in his life and they were lucky to have known him.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marie; sons, Jeff (Diana) Filen and Joe (Dawn) Filen; daughter, Jean (Mike) Pawlowski; grandchildren, Ashley (Rob) Johnson, Kayla (Joshua) Filen, Kyle (Rachel) Filen, Andy (Sarah) Pawlowski, Jessica Pawlowski, Josie, Jed and Brandon Filen; and great-grandchilden, Will, Elissa, Anderson, Delilah and Carter. He is further survived by brother-in-law, Harry Brouillard; sisters-in-law, Rosie Voeltz and Shirley Brouillard; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends and special friend, Tommy B. "Wild Bill".
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack; sisters, Barb Ramminger and Pat Wildhagen; brothers-in-law, Ray Brouillard, Jerry Brouillard and Wayland Voeltz; sister-in-law, Delores Brouillard.
A visitation will be held at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond Street, Appleton, on Monday, December 29, 2014, from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm with Father Gerald Falk officiating. Full military honors to follow. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.

Patricia Marie "Levy" Wildhagen, age 68 of Appleton, passed away at Appleton Medical Center on Monday, October 27, 2014, after a lengthy illness. She was born on September 6, 1946 to the late Howard and Margaret (Auers) Filen. She was a very loving and compassionate person.
She is survived by two children; Randall Lee Thomack and Peggy Sue (David) Sokolowski, four grandchildren; Travis Lee Thomack, Jennifer Lynn Thomack, Jacob Lee Jones and Terina Angell Igl, and a great granddaughter, Melanie Thomack. Patricia is further survived by her brother, Jim (Marie) Filen and many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Jack Filen and a sister, Barbara Ramminger.
A celebration of Pat's life will take place at 2:00PM, Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Two Broke Girlz, 430 Sherry St, Neenah WI.
