Obituary:
Marilyn M. Smudde, age 74, of Appleton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, March 16, 2015 at Appleton Medical Center. She was born in Appleton on December 9, 1940 to the late George and Ruby (Miracle) Springer. Marilyn married Tom Smudde at St. Therese Catholic Church in 1960. They were long time members of St. Thomas More Parish. Marilyn was a Red Cross Volunteer. She had a good sense of humor and loved crafts, especially card stamping.
Marilyn will be greatly missed by her daughters: Lori (Randy) Riese of Tustin and Lisa (Steve) Reetz of Fremont; a son, Gregg (Jackie) Smudde of Appleton; two grandchildren: Brad (Michelle) Krueger and Nicole Niemuth; four great-grandchildren: Josie, Emily, and Annabelle Niemuth and Adelyn Krueger; siblings: ginger (Ted) Wilcox, Appleton, Ann (Bob) Mulheron, Appleton, Joe (Linda) Springer, Appleton, and John (Pam) Springer, Appleton; sisters-in-law: Anne Springer, Appleton, Mary Springer, Phoenix, AZ, Rosemary (Norman) Francis, Milwaukee, and Jean Coon, Kaukauna; brothers-in-law: Leo Smudde, Hortonville and Dan (Bonnie) Smudde, FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband Tom Smudde, and her brothers Jim and Paul Smudde.
A memorial service for Marilyn will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, March 28, at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel with Father Gerald Falk officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Country Villa in Freedom for their care of mom.
