    Helen Wolf, 94, of Kaukauna, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Sunday, October 10, 2010, at Colony Oaks Care Center in Appleton. She was born on April 10, 1916, in Kaukauna, the daughter of the late Theodore and Marcella (Hartzheim) Nytes. Helen was the loving wife of departed and former Kaukauna Assistant Fire Chief, Clarence "Mike" Wolf. A lifelong resident of Kaukauna, Helen will be best remembered for her avid love of golf and the many local club championships she accumulated over a long and storied golf career. She had a passion for crochet and knitting and was also never one to turn down a game of cribbage or any card game for that matter. Her love for her family, husband, sons and grandchildren (and anyone lucky enough to have tasted her chocolate torte!) was evident and cherished by all who came in contact with her. She was a devoted member of the church.
    Helen is survived by two daughters-in-law: Pat Maes and Judy Jansen, four grandchildren: Yvonne (Tom) Hooyman, Menasha; Todd (Lisa) Wolf, Gurnee, Illinois; Timothy (Patti) Wolf, Oak Creek and Tricia (Jerry) Eddis, Middletown, Delaware; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters: Joan Nytes, Kaukauna and Sally Bartelt, Kaukauna.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence in 1989, her two sons: James Wolf in 1968 and Michael Wolf in 1994; a brother and sisters: Jerome (Jeanette) Nytes, Mary (Robert) Kraft, Anne (Earl) Kersten, Jean (Cyrus) Van Asten, Dolores (Grover) Patterson and Douglas Bartelt.
    The funeral liturgy for Helen will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH, ST. MARY CHURCH, 119 W. Seventh Street, Kaukauna. Father Jerry Pastors will be presiding. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. The visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of mass.

    Marcella T. "Sally" Bartelt, 78, Kaukauna, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at Appleton Medical Center with her family at her side, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 6, 1932, in Kaukauna, daughter of the late Theodore and Marcella (Hartzeim) Nytes. On Aug. 23, 1958, she was united in marriage to Douglas R. Bartelt in San Antonio, TX. He preceded her in death on July 19, 2007.
    Sally is survived by seven sons and four daughters-in-law, Carl Bartelt, Bruce Bartelt, John Bartelt (special friend Kim Klister), Charles (Tina) Bartelt, Thomas (Donna) Bartelt, all of Kaukauna; William (Tina) Bartelt, New London; Michael (Robin) Bartelt, Weyauwega; 27 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; her extended family, Linda and Scott Dorschner, Suamico; three extended grandchildren, Lance, Jessica, and Stephanie Dorschner; a sister, Joan Nytes, Kaukauna; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Gladys Bartelt, Marshfield. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and special friends, Sally Bons, Lori Eslinger, Amber Barrett, Sean and Nancy V.
    Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Douglas; five sisters and one brother.
    The funeral Mass for Marcella will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 309 Desnoyer St., Kaukauna, with Fr. Tom Pomeroy celebrating. Friends will be received at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the mass.
    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Marcella's name is being established.

    Mark T. Verbeten, age 89, of Wrightstown, passed away Monday, January 18, 2016. He was born February 13, 1926 in the Town of Buchanan to Arnold and Mary (Nytes) Verbeten. He served his country in the U.S. Navy at the end of WWII before marrying Frances VandeHey in 1949 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Wrightstown. She preceded him in death on December 26, 2010. Mark touched many young lives through coaching little league baseball and elementary basketball. He and his brother were partners in Oudenhoven Construction Inc. Mark served on the Wrightstown Village Board, was involved in the planning of the Mid-Vallee Golf Course and was a member of the American Legion Post 436 in Wrightstown. As his faith was very important to him, Mark was Trustee at St. Paul Parish in Wrightstown among the many other activities he was involved in there. Throughout his life his example taught love and commitment to faith, family, and community.

    Family and friends may visit at St. Clare Parish-St. Paul Site, Wrightstown, on Friday, January 22, from 3:00pm until 6:30pm. A parish prayer service will be held at 6:30pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday, at the church, from 9:00am until 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am with Rev. Dennis Bergsbaken and Rev. Carl Meulemans concelebrating. Burial in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Wrightstown. Cotter Funeral Home of Wrightstown is assisting the family.

    Genevieve A. Ambrosius, age 88, of Brillion, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, surrounded by her family.
    Gen was born on November 18, 1927 in the town of Buchanan, daughter of the late Arnold and Mary (Nytes) Verbeten. She was a graduate of Wrightstown High School, class of 1946. She was employed at the Drug Store in Wrightstown before her marriage. On June 7, 1949, Gen married Robert T. Ambrosius at St. Paul Catholic Church in Wrightstown. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2002. Gen was a homemaker, but that didn't mean she stayed in the same spot for very long. Besides raising their children, she was the St. Mary's Catholic Church Coordinator for 16 years, was a member of the Christian Mothers, received the Marian Award for her volunteering, taught religious education, helped organize the Cursillo Retreats, was an organist for St. Mary's Catholic Church, cooked for the Priests and Sisters at the church, was a current member of Holy Family Catholic Parish in Brillion, and pretty much did anything to help. Gen and Bob enjoyed golfing, anywhere. They participated in couples golfing leagues and enjoyed traveling south during the winter. The couple also was very active in the Brillion Area Jaycees and JayCeets, the Brillion Optimist Club, held season tickets and were avid Green Bay Packer Fans, and loved to spend time with their family.

    Funeral Mass will take place at 12:00 p.m. (NOON) on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Timothy Brandt with burial in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Brillion.

    Gerald J. Nytes, "Jerry", Kaukauna, age 83, died on Sunday, April 14, 2013 following a long struggle with Alzheimer's. He was born on June 30, 1929, in Kaukauna, son of the late William and Mildred (Brown) Nytes. He served in the Korean Conflict from March 1951 until December 1952. Jerry married Betty Bernard on June 6, 1953. He was employed at Appleton Papers, Combined Locks Mill from 1948 until retiring in 1990. Jerry enjoyed golf, fishing, playing cards and traveling. He was a member of the Fox Valley Golf Club, Elks Lodge #962, American Legion at Wrightstown, Post #436, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Kaukauna, Post #3319, and Appleton Coated Quarter Century Club.
    Jerry is survived by 2 daughters: Nancy Ross, Kimberly and her daughters, Christina, Stefanie, and Brianna; Lisa (Keith) Fassbender, Kaukauna and their children, Megan (Chris) Bayorgeon, Melissa, and Kyle Fassbender; 2 great-grandchildren: Quintin and Collyn Bayorgeon.     Verbeten, Earl W. “Dreek ”, 1010 Boyd Avenue KaukaunaAge 77, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2001 at his home, followi ng a brief illness. Dreek was born in Wrightstown on July 29, 1924, s on of the late Harold and Helen (Nytes) Verbeten. He married for former Be tty Kraft on August 7, 1946 at St. Mary Church in Kaukauna; Betty preced ed him in death on January 17, 1999. During World War II, he proudly serv ed his country as a member of the United States Navy and was a member of t he Electric City Post #3319 of the VFW. Many will remember Dreek as a 17 y ear veteran of the Kaukauna Police force. After his retirement, he to ok up work in the maintenance department at Kaukauna Cheese. Dreek was a k ind man who enjoyed spending time at his cottage on Boundary Lake, but h is most treasured times were those spent with his children and grandchildr en.     Blanche Pynenberg, 81, Little Chute, was welcomed into our Lord's arms on March 8, 2007, after a short illness. She was born January 26, 1926, in Wrightstown, the daughter of the late Harold and Elaine (Nytes) Verbeten. On October 2, 1946, she married Gerald "Jerry" Pynenberg, in Seymour; and became a lifelong resident in Little Chute. Jerry preceded her in death on April 13, 1992. Blanche worked at Zwicker Knitting Mills prior to her marriage and also did part-time waitress work for many local restaurants during her marriage. In addition, Blanche, along with her husband, operated "Jerry's Store" in Little Chute. Many local residents probably remember going to their store to pick out penny candy. Even after Jerry's death, Blanche continued to keep the store open until failing health forced her to close. She had been a lifelong member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute and had also been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Jacob Coppus Post #258. Blanche enjoyed playing cribbage and sheepshead, spending time at the family cottage on Boundary Lake, and playing croquet with her sisters. She especially loved times spent with her family, her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Blanche can be fondly remembered as always having a smile, no matter what.
    Blanche is survived by two daughters: Donna (Dave) Wunrow, Seymour; Connie Van Wychen, Seymour; three sons: Ron (Sue) Pynenberg, Kimberly; Joe (Vickie) Pynenberg, Little Chute; Tim Pynenberg (special friend, Sharon Gassen), Neenah; grandchildren: Ben (Dawn) Van Wychen; Jacob (Rachel) Van Wychen; Donald (Amanda) Pynenberg; Craig Pynenberg; Jason (Cora) Pynenberg; Stacy Pynenberg; great-grandchildren: Spencer and Trevor Van Wychen; Austin, Donovan, Jasmine and Jordan Pynenberg.
    She is further survived by a brother, Ralph (Evie) Verbeten; sisters: Lorraine Van Vreede, Florence (Jack) De Goey, Marian "Deede" (Lefty) Helein, Lois (Donald) Gonnering, Carol (Ron) DeBruin; sister-in-law, Doris Verbeten. She is also survived by her god-children and many nieces and nephews.
    Besides her parents and husband, Blanche was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Terry Van Wychen, a grandson, Cory Pynenberg; brothers: Marlon Verbeten, Earl Verbeten and Robert Verbeten; sisters-in-law: Betty Verbeten, Rita Geurts, Ann Pynenberg, Linda Pynenberg; brothers-in-law: Richard Pynenberg, Leighon Pynenberg and Harvey Van Vreede.
    Funeral services for Blanche will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2007, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute, with Rev. David Funk O.F.M. Cap. officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 2:00 p.m. Monday, until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
    The family wishes to express a sincere THANK YOU to the entire staff of the Cedar Wing at Brewster Village for all the loving care and attention given to our mother during her stay.

    Flossie De Goey, Combined Locks, Age 86, passed away peacefully at St Paul's Home in Kaukauna early Saturday morning on April 18th. She was born on April 24th, 1928 in Wrightstown, WI. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Helen (Nytes) Verbeten. On September 2, 1950, Flossie married John (Jack) De Goey at St John's Catholic Church in Seymour. The couple lived in Combined Locks most of their married lives. Flossie worked at Look's Hardware store in Little Chute and was fondly known as the "Paint Lady". She loved to golf and spend time at the cottage. She also liked spending the winter months in Gulfport Mississippi. Flossie endured a long journey with Alzheimer's disease with Jack at her side daily. Flossie is survived by Jack, her husband of 64 years, Jim (Patty) of New London, Steve (Birdie) of Rochester MN, Patti (Dan) Verhagen of Freedom, Diane (Steve) Uphill of Combined Locks, 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She is further survived by Lorraine VanVreede, Marion (Deede) Helein, Carol (Ron) DeBruin, Evie Verbeten, Doris Verbeten, Lorry (Don) Phillips, Ken (Sandy) De Goey, Janice De Goey and Donald (Geraldine) De Goey.     Ralph G. Verbeten, Little Chute, age 83, died Monday March 18, 2013 at his home. He was born March 1, 1930 in Wrightstown to the late Harold and Helen (Nytes) Verbeten. Ralph married Evelyn Marquardt at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church on January 25, 1951. He was a Naval veteran. Ralph retired from the Appleton Papers, Combined Locks Mill after 40 years of service where he truly enjoyed being a "papermaker." He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cribbage and those that knew him knew he was the "lawnmower." Ralph also loved to spend time at their cottage on Lily River with family and friends.
    Ralph is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn; children: Dan (Bonnie) Verbeten and Kathy (Dan) Wells; grandchildren: Nanette (John) Gerrits, Eric Verbeten, Nick (Kellie), Dana and Adam Wells; great grandchildren: Hunter and Spencer Gerrits, Andrew, Emma, Maura, Maeve and Bryce Wells; sisters: Lorraine Van Vreede, Florence (Jack) De Goey, Marian (Clyde) Helein, Lois Gonnering and Carol (Ron) De Bruin; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Doris Verbeten, Wayne "Boots" (Linda), Gary (Mary), Dale, Carol and Pat Marquardt and Helen Olson.

    Donna M. Brittnacher, age 58, passed away on November 6, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 16, 1958, daughter of the late Cyrus and Jeanne (Nytes) Van Asten. Donna was a devoted wife and mother who put all others before herself. She went out of her way to spread happiness to everyone who came through her life. Donna loved spending time with her grandkids and enjoyed cooking, never letting anyone leave without a full stomach.

    After a long, hard and courageous battle with Scleroderma, Joey was welcomed into our Lord's Kingdom. He passed away in the morning on July 30, 2015, at Appleton Medical Center with his family at his side.
    Joey was born on May 19, 1956, son of Jerry and Blanche Pynenberg. He graduated from Little Chute High School. Joey met the girl of his dreams, Vickie Vande Burgt, the love of his life. They were united in marriage on November 5, 1977. Joey and Vickie were blessed with two children, Jason and Stacy, and three grandchildren: Jasmine, Jordan and Joshua.
    Joey worked at Appvion (Appleton Papers) from June of 1974 until his disability forced him to retire in January of 2015. He loved his job and all of his friends that he made. Joey loved spending time at their Boundary Lake Cottage with his family and siblings. If he wasn't fishing, he was playing cribbage or more recently engaged in heated domino games. He was a good woodworker and made beautiful pieces of furniture for just about every family member. He was so proud of what he could accomplish, and we'll all cherish the items we have because they were make with love. Joey, when healthy, loved deer hunting with is brothers, sister, brother-in-law, son, daughter and nephews. So many stories from these escapades all to bring smiles. Just like Joey's sense of humor and joke telling. An amazing man who will be so deeply missed.
    Joey is survived by his loving, devoted wife, Vickie; his son, Jason (Cora) Pynenberg, and their son Joshua Pynenberg; his daughter, Stacy Pynenberg, and her children Jasmine and Jordan. He is further survived by his sisters: Donna (Dave) Wunrow and Connie Van Wychen; brothers: Ron (Sue) Pynenberg and Tim Pynenberg (special friend, Sharon Gassen); mother-in-law, Marlene Allen (special friend, Wayne Robinson; brothers-in-law: Jeff Vande Burgt and Jay (Kim) Vande Burgt; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
    Joey was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Cory; his sister-in-law, Julie Vande Burgt and her daughter Deanna Henry; his brother-in-law, Terry Van Wychen; father-in-law, Virgil Vande Burgt; a nephew, Thomas Vande Burgt.
    Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2015, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Fr. Ron Belitz officiating.     Cody Gray Kersten, 29, was killed in a motorcycle accident on July 28, 2017. He is the youngest son of Ronald and Jamie Kersten, Little Chute, WI. He is survived by two brothers: Ron Jr. FL, daughters Neve and Olivia, granddaughter Annistyn Mae; and Cory (Korri) Freedom, sons Noah, Liam and Cody's God-daughter Zoe; his loving grandma Lilah Eick; and devoted daughter Raylin.
    Cody was a hard-working, mechanically inclined man who enjoyed working at their shop with his Dad. He was proficient in electrical and hydraulic installation, welding and fabrication. His job at Monroe Truck gave him great satisfaction modifying and completing custom trucks. From his childhood, Cody loved doing anything with wheels, tracks or waves. He always had a notebook filled with drawings and ideas, building his first boat at 11yrs of age. He willingly set aside his projects and builds to help someone else with theirs. He was active with his car, boat, trucks, bikes, snowmobiles, four wheelers, rock climbers, mud trucks, demo derbies, helping buddies at the races, and loved tractor pulls, taking 3rd place (after two tractors) with his beloved dually just two nights before his death.
    He generously made time for other people's children and loved animals. He was kind-hearted, loving, compassionate and always ready to help family and friends. Anyone who knew Cody knew they had someone to count on. He did the right thing because it was the right thing to do and never wanted recognition for his help. Cody's infectious, engaging, quick, gentle smile warmed every encounter. His warm, comforting, genuine hugs were extraordinary. Cody was a true free spirit who lived life to the fullest and made friends of all ages everywhere he went.
    Cody's creed was Stand Tall Walk Tall which meant stand your ground for what you believed in, learn, teach, don't give up and help whenever you can.
    He worked hard for everything he acquired and did not want to accept help from others. While planning the medical benefit for the bills from his accident in June 2016, caused by an unlicensed, uninsured woman, Cody only agreed if we pay it forward and spread helmet awareness knowing his helmet saved his life last year. His benefit was held as scheduled (only 1 week after his death) and we wish he could have seen all the children's heads we covered by giving away helmets that day. Our hope is to get kids in the habit of wearing a helmet now so they will do so always. His legacy will live on as we will continue to promote #teamcody Helmet: Every. Single. Time.
    During his difficult recovery from the 2016 motorcycle accident, he came to know the Lord on a deeper level and saw that God had a plan for him. God certainly used him to show us the value of persistence in dealing with the tough and unexpected parts of life. God also used our Cody to demonstrate how to love others well. He made a huge impact on many people in just 29yrs. Cody will live on not only in our hearts and memories but also in his decision to participate in the organ donation program which will help numerous others.
    His life was enriched by so many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends so numerous we could fill the page if listing them all. Please know we are grateful to each of you for your role in shaping his life.
    Cody was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Annie Kersten and James Eick; and uncle, Tom Kersten.
    Miss you Daddy. Love you forever and always.
    He was an amazing young man. Our days have darkened now without our Sonshine. Until we meet again, Love you more. Let's all try to live by his motto: "Stand Tall Walk Tall"
