    Obituary:
William Peter Schultz, 75, passed away suddenly Wednesday evening, April 1, 2015 while traveling home from a family trip. Bill was born on October 10, 1939, the son of Robert and Jule (Walz) Schultz. He was raised in Appleton and graduated from Appleton West High School in 1957. Bill attended St. Norbert's College in De Pere, WI and later studied at Fox Valley Technical College and The Fire Science Academy in Maryland. He was a member of The Sons of the American Legion and marched with his brother Tom as a soprano player from age 9- 18. After aging out of the drum corp he became a Director of the Americanos Drum & Bugle Corp of Appleton, WI. He left the drum corps after enlisting in the United States Army. On September 12, 1959 he married Marilee Elizabeth (Dunsirn) Schultz before deploying to Germany. He will be remembered, cherished and loved by his always loving and caring wife of 55 years Marilee, his daughter Julie Anne (Kristan Johnson) Schultz, and 2 sons Brian Peter Schultz and Bradly Thomas (Heidi) Schultz. He was blessed with eight grandchildren, Joshua, Alexandra, Hannah, Taylor, Camille, Sawyer, Logan, and Austin. All of whom he shared a very special bond with.
Upon returning from the military Bill continued for 12 years working in the capacity of Director of the Americanos Drum Corp which was his extended family. He made a difference in many young men & women's lives by mentoring them. He also worked at Appleton Paper Chemistry and went on to join the Appleton Fire Department on September 11, 1967. He took great pride in being a member of the Annual Flag Day Committee in Appleton. He retired on January 1, 1996 after 28 years as Battalion Fire Marshall with great honors from the State of Wisconsin. In his semi retirement he went on to work with his cousin Jim at W.E. Smith Reality in Appleton. Bill was blessed with 19 years of retirement in which he enjoyed dancing with his wife, bowling, golfing, fishing, playing cards, and of course The Green Bay Packers @ Lambeau Field as a proud season ticket holder! Bill and his wife Marilee enjoyed traveling as well as spending time with family and friends all over the country.
Bill is a respected family man, had a great sense of humor and enjoyed his friends. He was known to be tough but fair as he lead by example as a mentor, dad & grandfather. Bill was member of the Americano's Board of Directors for 12 years, Americano's Alumni, VFW, American Legion, and St Mary's Catholic Church.
God gave Bill what he desired most at the end of his time on earth, being together with his family on the cruise--his life ended on a high he had wanted to "gift" for years. We will all share fond memories eternally of this fine man that was a husband, father, grandpa, mentor, and friend to many!
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his siblings, Thomas Schultz, Mary Branner and Patricia Chudy.
Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m., on Monday, April 6, 2015, at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond Street, Appleton, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at St Mary Catholic Church, 312 S. State Street, Appleton, with Father Bill Swichtenberg officiating. Burial will be in St Joseph's Cemetery, Appleton.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund in William's name will be established.
