    Obituary:
    John Ort, Sr., 8O, died Monday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Jens in the town of Ellington. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Jens, two sons, John and Fred Ort, all of Ellington. Funeral services will be held from the Ellington Lutheran church at ten o'clock Wednesday morning with the Rev. E. Redlin in charge.

    Biography:
    FREDERICK ORT, an industrious young farmer of Ellington township, Outagamie county, who is engaged in cultivating 10 acres of good land along scientific lines, is a native of Germany, and was born September 17, 1872, a son of John and Mary (Teise) Ort, natives of the Fatherland. John Ort brought his family to the United States in 1877, coming direct to Wisconsin and settling in Freedom township, where he lived for two years. He then went to Winnebago county for two years, after which he located in Ellington township, buying land and engaging in farming until his retirement, since which time he has resided in Freedom, where his wife is also living. They had a family of three children. Mr. Ort is a veteran of the Franco-Prussian War. Frederick Ort received his education in the district schools in the vicinity of his father's farm, attending until he was seventeen years old and working on his father's farm and the neighboring tracts and giving his earnings to his father until he was twenty-one years old. In 1897 he was married to Ellen Pingle, of Appleton, daughter of Charles and Mary Pingle, and after his marriage lived in Appleton for two years, working by the month. He then rented a farm in Grand Chute township for two years, and in 1901 bought his present splendid farm of 160 acres, on which he has since carried on mixed farming and dairy work. In 1907 he built a fine, new modern residence, and he is at present erecting some large barns. He is an adherent of the use of scientific methods in cultivating his land, and the success which has met his efforts justifies his beliefs. He and Mrs. Ort are members of the German Lutheran church of Ellington, and he is independent in his political views. He has had seven children: Marie, Edward, Harold, Lucile, Vera, Bernice and John, the last two being twins.

    John W. Ort Rt. 1, Hortonville Town of Ellington Age 99, passed away at Appleton Monday morning following a two week illness. He was born June 14, 1874 in Germany and came to this country with his parents as a child, living in this area for his entire life. He was in the construction and farming businesses until his retirement 30 years ago. For the past seven years he resided with his daughter, Mrs. Florence Wunderlich, Town of Ellington. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Florence Wunderlich, Town of Ellington, and Mrs. Fred (Nathali) Buss, Appleton; a son, Donald, Scottsdale, Arizona; 8 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. His wife and a daughter preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First English Lutheran Church, Appleton, with burial in Highland Memorial Park. Rev. L.A. Ziemer will officiate. Friends may call at the Borchardt-Moder Funeral Home, Hortonville, after 3 p.m. Tuesday, until 10 a.m. Wednesday and then at the church until the time of service.

    Mrs. William Jentz, 82, 1519 W. Summer street, died at 3:45 this morning at her home after a short illness. She was born March 27, 1882, in Germany and lived in the town of Ellington until she moved to Appleton 12 years ago. Funeral services will be at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Ellington Lutheran church with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral home from 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon until 9:30 Monday morning and then at the church. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Arnold Jentz, route 2, Appleton, Mrs. Harold Wunderlich, and Mrs. Melvin Poppe, both of Appleton; one son, Orville Loos, route 2, Appleton; two brothers; Fred and John Ort, both of Appleton, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

    Ruth G. Sedo, age 93, of Appleton, was called by God to Heaven on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, following a stroke. She was born December 7, 1916, in the Town of Ellington, daughter of the late Fred and Ellen (Pingle) Ort. She was united in marriage to Wilbert W. Sedo on April 16, 1941. They farmed in the Town of Black Creek until 1965. They continued living on the farm, where Wilbert grew up, until moving to Appleton in 2002.
    Ruth was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Town of Center. She was a life-time member of the Appleton Medical Center Auxiliary.
    Ruth is survived by her children: Bonnie (Allen) Treml, Black Creek and Donald (Betty) Sedo, Clintonville; her grandchildren: Mike Beyer, Chicago, IL; Keith (Anne) Beyer, LaCrosse; Angela (Jonathan) Gonzalez, North Hollywood, CA; Matthew Treml (special friend, Erin), Neenah; Christopher Treml (special friend, Jenny), Madison; Ryan Treml, Black Creek; Rob (Becky) Griesbach, Manawa; Scott (Dani) Griesbach, Utah; her great-grandchildren: Leah and Grace Beyer; Caleb and Joshua Griesbach; Olivia, Samantha and Elisabeth Griesbach; a son-in-law, James Beyer, Florida; a sister-in-law, Ethel Moehring, Appleton; and many nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert in August 2006 and a daughter, Sharon Lynn Beyer in November 2007; four brothers and sisters-in-law: Edward (Irene) Ort, Harold (Bernice) Ort, John (Vera) Ort, Raymond (Lillian) Ort: and seven sisters and brothers-in-law: Marie (Emil) Jentz, Lucille (Walter) Klitzke, Vera (James) Cusumano, Bernice (Howard) Wunderlich, Helen (Harry) Wendt, Gladys (Leo) Puls, Jeanette (Harvey) Marcks.
    Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, March 8, 2010, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Town of Center with the Reverends Jeffrey Suhr and Micah Martin officiating.
