    Formerly of Appleton - Age 92, died Friday April 5th at 8 p.m. at Bethany Home. She was born in Shawano County September 27, 1875. She was married in Shawano, Wis. to Charles F. Getschow. Mr. Getschow preceded her in death Dec. 31, 1923. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Hazel Stingle, Appleton, Mrs. Marion Collipp, Appleton, Mrs. Rena Fries, Appleton and Mrs. Minnie Beattie of Oshkosh; five sons, Brace, and Robert of Appleton, Herbert, Neenah, Ervin, Whiting, Indiana and Louis of Schererville, Indiana; four brothers, Henry Otto, Oconto, Emil Otto, Shawano, Albert Otto, Redondo Beach, California and Louis Otto of California; 22 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 8th at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethany Home Chapel, Waupaca, Wis. with the Rev. Leonard A. Ziemer, pastor of the First English Lutheran Church, Appleton, officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton

    Brace J. Getschow of 832 West Eighth Street. Age 95, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, July 11, 1996. He was born February 2, 1901 in Shawano County to the late Charles and Adda (Otto) Getschow. He married Eleanor Braumandl on July 27, 1929 in Appleton. Brace worked as a supervisor for Appleton Wire Works for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and tinkering in the yard. Brace and Eleanor found great comfort in hosting and attending different prayer groups. Their home was always open and known for its hospitality. Brace's humor will be fondly remembered. Survivors include his wife Eleanor, three daughters: Jean (Robert) VanDerloop, Appleton; Sue (Tom) Miron, Menasha; Gail (George) King, Rochester Hills, Michigan; two sons: Reuben (Jacquelyn) Getschow, Fredonia; Joe (Petrice) Getschow, Green Bay; 19 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, a sister, Hazel Stingle, Appleton; three sisters-in-law: Inez Getschow, Appleton; Evelyn Getschow, South Bend, Indiana; Arlene Getschow, Appleton; seven nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by six brothers: Walter, Herbert, Ervin, Reuben, Robert and Louis; three sisters: Ella Getschow, Marion Collipp, and Rena Fries; a grandson, Thad; two step-sisters: Louis Horn and Minnie Beattie. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 14, 1996 at 5 p.m. at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. Lawrence Street with Fr. David Schmidt officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Sunday from 2 p.m. until time of services. A luncheon will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall

    Jean E. Van Der Loop, age 85, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 3, 1930 to the late Brace and Eleanor (Braumandl) Getschow in Appleton. On June 23, 1951, she married Robert Van Der Loop.
    Jean accepted Jesus as her personal Savior and her relationship with the Lord was very important to her. Jean and Robert were active members of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton and the Neenah YMCA. For 20 years, Jean owned and operated The Chocolate Habit, a woman's dress shop, in downtown Appleton. Together, they spent the last 18 years residing half the year in Florida. She enjoyed reading, swimming, playing cards and shopping. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great -grandchildren.
    She is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, Robert, her children; Timothy (Jolene), Appleton, Lynn Cottrell, Oshkosh, Sara Thomas, Appleton, and Mary (Jay) Kraft, Caledonia, WI, her grandchildren; Nathan (Jennifer) Van Der Loop, Brianna (Jim) Ring, Dylan (Danielle) Van Der Loop, Gavin Van Der Loop, Alson Cottrell, Shauna Cottrell, Ambyre (Kyle) Calmes, Eric Thomas, Zachary (fiancé Kim Ringer) Thomas, Santria Kraft and Michael Kraft and nine great grandchildren. Jean is further survived by brothers and sisters; Reuben (Jackie) Getschow, Sue (Thom) Miron, Joe (Petrice) Getschow and Gail (George) King, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
    A funeral liturgy for Jean will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 410 W. Lawrence St, Appleton, with Fr. Jim Leary OFM CAP officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:45 AM at the church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jean's name to: St. Joseph Food Program, 1465 Opportunity Way, Menasha, WI 54952.
    The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the St. Elizabeth Hospital ER and ICU staff for the care and compassion shown to Jean and her family.
