    Obituary:
    Fred H. Birkholz, age 80, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at his residence. Fred was born on July 22, 1927, in Appleton, son of the late Henry and Helen (Pohrman) Birkholz. On January 21, 1950, he was united in marriage to Arlene Cruger in Weyauwega. They farmed in Weyauwega prior to 1963. In that same year, they opened the Pine Tree Supper Club, which is still family-owned and operated today. His family meant everything to him. Fred was an avid sports fan; he especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London.
    Fred is survived by his wife of 58 years, Arlene; four daughters: Sandy (Harold) Romberg, New London; Corinne (Kim) Dorsey, New London; Debbie Olson (special friend Wayne Mitchell), Shiocton; Sue (Greg) Wood, New London; a son Mark Birkholz (special friend Debbie Engels), New London. Twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive him.
    Besides his parents he is preceded in death by a step- father and two step-brothers.
    Funeral services for Fred will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London with Rev. John Schewe officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Weyauwega. Friends may call at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London on Monday, March 24, 2008, from 4-8 p.m. and also at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
