    Evers, Harold B. "Barney" Little ChuteAge 71, died Wednesday, January 15, 2003 at his home with his family by h is side. Harold was born July 22, 1931 in Little Chute; son of the late Jo seph and Josephine (Hietpas) Evers. He married Martha Wyngaard, February 1 3, 1954 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute where he w as a lifetime member. Harold was in the Army, serving his country in the K orean War. Harold was employed at International Paper until his retireme nt in 1993 and belonged to the quarter century club. He was a member of t he Little Chute American Legion, Post 258 and the Knights of Columbu s. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family at the co ttage in Mountain and the cottage in Argonne.Harold is survived by his wife, Martha; five children: Debra (Darshan) Dha liwal, Mequon; Julie (Christopher) Coonen, Kaukauna; Dave (Nancy) Evers, K imberly; Joe (Becky) Evers, Little Chute; Jeff (Lori) Evers, Little Chut e; 17 grandchildren: Jesse (Sophia), Gary, Tina, Ron, Amy and Cindy Dhaliw al; Ben, Jenny, Nick, Sarah, Kelly, Scott, Abby, Heather and Cody Evers; K ayla and Matthew Coonen; six brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Richard ( Marilyn), Robert (Florence) and Theo Wyngaard; Dorothy Grapentin; Marie Schiedermayer; Ruth Huss; many nieces, nephews and friends.     Barbara C. SachsKimberly Age 67, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2001, at her home followi ng a one-year battle with cancer. Barbara was born March 4, 1934, the daug hter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Hietpas) Evers. On January 11, 195 8, she married Donald G. Sachs in Little Chute; Donald preceded her in dea th on April 25, 1994. Barbara was employed for many years by the Institu te of Paper Chemistry in Appleton, and until 1994 worked for the Institu te of Paper Science and Technology in Atlanta. She was a member of Holy Na me Catholic Church, the Ladies of Holy Name, and enjoyed traveling, shoppi ng, playing cards, and noon luncheons with her daughters and friends. S he is survived by her six children: Robin (Glen) Koehler of the Town of Va ndenbroek; Sherry (Michael) Schraa of the Town of Harrison; Suzanne (Rober t) Hopfensperger of Darboy; Penny (Todd) Hughes of Menasha; Connie (Kir k) Weidler of Omaha, Nebraska; Mark (Gwen) Sachs of Menominee, Michigan; f ourteen grandchildren: Amy and Jennifer Koehler; Lauren and Carly Schra a; Robert, Katherine and Andrew Hopfensperger; Jeffry and Samuel Palmer, M itchell Hughes; Alyssa and Michael Sachs; a brother: Harold (Martha) Eve rs of Little Chute; a sister-in-law: Eunice (Carl) Recker of Winneconn e; a brother-in-law: Kenneth Sachs of Appleton.     Obituary:
    Leo J. Hietpas, 77, Allouez, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Bellin Memorial Hospital after a brief illness due to a brain tumor. Leo was born on May 3, 1938 in Little Chute the son of the late Norbert and Josephine (VandenHeuvel) Hietpas. He was a graduate of St. Norbert College with a B.S. Degree in Math and furthered his studies receiving his Masters Degree in Math Education at Illinois Institute of Technology. On June 2, 1962 he married the former Karen Garvey at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom and the couple enjoyed almost 54 years together. Leo started his teaching career in Coleman and later entered the Green Bay School system teaching at Edison Junior High and East High School until his retirement in 1997 after 35 years of service. Leo was a faithful and dedicated member at Resurrection Catholic Church for many years giving of his time in many areas and assisted on various committees. He loved to read and greatly enjoyed golfing and playing cards especially Bridge and Sheepshead.
    Leo is survived by his wife Karen, his children Marilee Kaas, Brian (Greta) Hietpas, Erin (Mark) Bal; 8 grandchildren Emily and Brandon Kaas, Claire, Sam, and Emma Hietpas, Ryan, Eric and Kevin Bal; 3 brothers and 3 sisters-in-law Carl (Lois) Hietpas, Gene (Margie) Hietpas, Gregg (Betty) Hietpas, 1 sister and 1 brother-in-law Arlene (Cal) Kaufman, 1 sister-in-law Joan (Mike) Bohlmann, 1 brother-in-law Bill (Pauline) Garvey. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Bernice Garvey.
    Gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Resurrection Catholic Church 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue after 9:30 A.M. on Monday, May 2, 2016 until the time of the Funeral. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Bishop Robert Morneau officiating. Entombment at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
    In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations may be made to the Green Bay Education Association Scholarship Fund in Memory of Leo J. Hietpas ~or~ to Green Bay East High School Institute for the Fine Arts.

    LaVerne M. McCarthy, 85, of Fremont, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 8, 2017, at ThedaCare Medical Center - Berlin, after a brief illness. She was born June 17, 1932 in Little Chute, daughter of the late Peter and Laura (Hietpas) Coenen. LaVerne graduated from St. John Nepomucene High School in Little Chute.
    On August 31, 1950, LaVerne married Richard J. McCarthy. They worked together on their dairy farm for over 40 years, passing it on to their son David and grandson Adam. LaVerne and Richard enjoyed nearly 65 years of marriage before Richard's passing in 2015. She loved gardening, playing cards…especially 500 rummy, baking, and spending time with her family. Playing cards and teaching all of her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids how to play was one of her many enjoyments in life.

Visitation will be held at the church Friday morning from 9:30 until 11:15 AM. Burial will take place at St. Edward's Cemetery following the Mass.

    Wilfird J. "Bill" Coenen, 77, Appleton, died Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Appleton Medical Center with his family at his side. Bill was born in Little Chute, on Oct. 15, 1933, to the late Peter G. and Laura (Hietpas) Coenen. He graduated with the Class of 1951 from St. John High School in Little Chute, where he was President of his class. In 1953, Bill was united in marriage to Doris Noffke. In 1987, he married Annette Strebe, who preceded him in death in 2005.
    Bill was self-employed most of his life as a farmer, truck driver, small manufacturer and salesman. He was able to fix or build just about anything and "Billy-rig" (a term fondly used by his children) just about everything else. He was a member of the Dale, Medina and Readfield Lions Club, the Knights of Columbus and the Dale Community Club. He loved gardening, country music and ice cream.
    He will be missed by his nine children, Christine (James) Machamer, Waupaca; Joseph (Jane) Coenen, Kaukauna; Richard (Judie) Coenen, Rockford, Ill.; Barbara (Donald) Nieland, Fremont; Robert (Lori) Coenen, Elcho; John (Angie) Coenen, Dale; Suzanne (Paul) Shoberg, Larsen; James (Margret) Coenen, Appleton; and Katherine (James) Fitzgerald, Cinncinnati, Ohio; 23 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Laverne (Richard) McCarthy, Alice (Richard) Van De Hey, Raymond (Margaret) Coenen, Norman (Rose) Coenen, Lloyd (Julie) Coenen and Marilyn Van Dyke. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Irvan Coenen; and wife, Annette.
    A Memorial Service will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1810 N. Mc Donald St., Appleton. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel and directly at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.

    Raymond F. Coenen, 79, Town of Vandenbroek, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 17, 2014. He was born May 25, 1935, son of Peter and Laura (Hietpas) Coenen. On May 24, 1955, Ray was united in marriage to Margaret "Maggie" Biese. Ray and Maggie ran a dairy farm for several years before starting their own business, Coenen Transit Inc. Ray ran the trucking business and was also on the Vandenbroek Fire Department, serving as chief for several years. He loved woodworking and made many different projects for his family and friends. Ray truly loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

    Marvin Coenen, age 74, passed away unexpectedly after a brief battle with cancer on Monday, March 17, 2008, at the Appleton Medical Center. Marv was born in Little Chute on September 15, 1933, son of the late Alphonse and Marcella (Hietpas) Coenen. He attended St. John School in Little Chute, and for many years owned and operated Ace TV & Appliance in Kimberly. Marv was very involved within the Kimberly community over the years. To name just a few of his loves, he was a member of the American Legion Post #60, served as a Trustee for the village for over twenty years, enjoyed the Heart of the Valley Senior Service Club, belonged to the Golden Agers, and was currently serving as the Marshall of the Eastern District of the Knights of Columbus.
    Marv is survived by his wife: Alice Coenen of Kimberly; a son, Mark Coenen, Kimberly; and his daughters: Kimberly Coenen, Milwaukee and Alexandra Coenen, Kimberly; a daughter, Charlene (Gary) Van Gheem, Green Bay; a sister, Mary Weyenberg, Darboy; a brother, Gerald (Shirley) Coenen, Wrightstown; his mother-in-law, Anna Weyenberg, Appleton; and all of Alice's brothers and sisters: Jane (Ray) Menting, Kimberly; Elizabeth (Ben) Mischler, Combined Locks; Leo (Linda) Weyenberg, Mississippi; Julie Verstegen and Dennis, Washington; Kathryn (Richard) Peterson, Darboy; and Rose (Merle) Hietpas, Kimberly. Marv is also survived by his special little friend: Samantha.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Alphonse and Marcella Coenen, Alice's father, Royal Weyenberg, sisters-in-law Ramona (Ralph) Stark, Carol Weyenberg, and Diane Rohan; and a brother-in-law Robert Weyenberg.
    The funeral liturgy for Marv will be held at 11a.m. on Monday, March 24, 2008, at ST. JOHN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 323 Pine Street in Little Chute with Fr. James Hablewitz officiating. Friends may call at the Jansen Fargo Funeral Home in Kimberly on Easter Sunday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the liturgy. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday. A memorial fund in Marvin's name is being established.

    Gerald J. "Jerry" Coenen, 75, Greenleaf, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014 at a local hospital. He was born November 26, 1938 in Little Chute, WI, son of the late Alphonse and Marcella (Heitpas) Coenen. Jerry graduated from Little Chute High School and attended Seminary in Milwaukee. He married Shirley Vande Hey on November 27, 1963 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Wrightstown.
    Jerry was passionate in the Wrightstown Lions Club, where he was past District Governor for the State of Wisconsin.
    He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Shirley; his children: Paul (Renee Villers) Coenen, Jana (Randy) Geurts, Joe (Lisa Mancoske) Coenen, Alicia (Tim) Ehlke, Kara (Peter) Wills, and Deanna (Chris) Mancoske; 18 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister: Mary Weyenberg; sister-in-law, Alice Coenen; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roger and Pat Vande Hey.
    Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marvin; brother-in-law, Bob Weyenberg; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Howard and Johanna Vande Hey.

    Candace Ann Coenen, "Candy," age 50, of Menasha, died on Wednesday, August 29, 2007, at Cherry Meadows Hospice, after a long and courageous battle with skin cancer. Candy was born on June 30, 1957, in Appleton to the late Irvan and Patricia (Hintz) Coenen. She attended St. John Catholic School through the 10th grade and subsequently graduated from Kaukauna High School. For the past five years, Candy was an employee at the Hand & Upper Extremity Center of Northeast Wisconsin. Candy loved flowers, gardening, blue grass music, laughing with friends, spending time with family, and especially her granddaughter, Brooke. Over the past few years, she lived out her dream of owning and riding her Harley Davidson "Sultry Sunny." She was a member of ABATE and the Harley Owner's Group.
    Survivors include her daughter, Christine (Michael J.) Dietzen, and their daughter, Brooke, Appleton; her sister, Constance "Connie" (Don) Koller, and their son, Derek, Iron Mountain, Michigan; her sister, Jacqueline "Jackie" (Dan) Nelson, and their children, Ken, Danielle and Jennifer, Brillion, Wisconsin.
    Memorial services will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at the Wichmann Funeral Home Tri County Chapel, 3212 S. Oneida St., Menasha, with Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:30 p.m. until the time of services.     Kaukauna - Kathy M. Smudde, age 62, Kaukauna, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a courageous fight with Leukemia. She was born on July 28, 1955, in Appleton, daughter of Richard and Alice (Coenen) Van De Hey. Kathy graduated from Kimberly High School, Class of 1973. On October 11, 1974, she married Ralph Smudde in Kimberly. Their marriage of 43 years was blessed with two daughters. Kathy worked at Asten Johnson for over 40 years. She enjoyed traveling, quilting, golfing and spending time with her three grandchildren.
    Kathy is survived by her beloved husband, Ralph Smudde; daughters: Becky Smudde and Kristin (Tyler) Maahs; three grandchildren: Kaeden, Kinley and Bentley; her parents: Richard and Alice Van De Hey; brother, Lyle (Wanda) Van De Hey; sisters: Cindy (Frank) Dillinger, Linda (Randy) Uitenbroek and Jan (Ken) Schmitz; brothers and sisters-in-law: Bev (Don) Feldkamp, Leone (Jim) Pahl, Ann (Dave) Dupont, Lois (Jim) Lemke, Richard (Joyce) Smudde, Linda (Don) Moehring, Ken (Julie) Smudde, Steve (Sue) Smudde, Mary (Joe) Greiner and Brian Smudde; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

    Barb, age 54, was born January 11, 1959, to Bill and Doris Coenen of Dale, WI, the fourth of nine children. At a very early age, she began to show her creative talents in art, play-acting, sewing, baking and cooking, organizing and directing. Barb graduated from New London Senior High School in 1977 and spent one year at UW-Oshkosh. On July 14, 1979, Barb married Donald D. Nieland at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dale. Together they weathered the ups and downs of owning and operating Your Place bar and supper Dale, and later The Old Store Café & Deli in Dale. With Barb's culinary talents and Don's bartending, they were hosts to many people of the surrounding area. They had a rich, full life entertaining friends and family. Barb was currently employed by Roundy's Corp as Service Operations Manager, and she supported her husband Don's business by doing the bookkeeping for Dale Tile. In 1983, Elizabeth(Liz) was born to them, adding to their family. In 2003, Liz married David Ewald, and they have added three wonderful grandchildren to the mix. In 2009, Barb was diagnosed with CLL and Lymphoma. Though she fought courageously and valiantly until the end, she lost her battle on August 20, 2013. Barb dedicated her life to charity efforts through The G.I.R.L.S Group, a group of friends who made care packages and blankets for cancer patients. Barb was also an active member of the Greenville Lioness and Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Greenville. It came naturally to Barb to share her talents with all around her, and she especially enjoyed mentoring her nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, N1615 Meadow View Dr., Greenville. Pastor Nate Reichle and Lay Minister Mark Peters will officiate. Interment will be in Dale Union Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established for the American Cancer Society and Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.

    Larry D. Baneck, age 53, his wife, Peggy Ann Baneck, age 47, and their son, Charlie R. Baneck, age 17, of Wautoma, died suddenly Friday, December 5, 2008 as a result of a fire at their home in the Town of Marion.
    Larry was born Sept. 28, 1955 in Antigo, the son of Donald and Carolyn (Olinske) Baneck. He married Peggy Ann Coenen on June 5, 1981 at St. John's Catholic Church in Little Chute.
    Larry was a 1974 graduate of Freedom High School. He was the founder of Baneck Transport of Wautoma.

    Peggy Ann Baneck was born Sept. 29, 1961 in Kaukauna, the daughter of Raymond and Margaret (Biese) Coenen. She married Larry D. Baneck on June 5, 1981 at St. John's Catholic Church in Little Chute.
    Peggy was a 1980 graduate of Kaukauna High School. She was employed as a Communications Officer with the Waushara County Sheriff's Department.

    Charlie R. Baneck was born April 17, 1991 in Berlin, the son of Larry D. and Peggy Ann (Coenen) Baneck. He was a Junior at Wautoma High School where he participated in basketball, golf, choir, and the school musicals.

    Larry and Peggy are survived by five children, Billi Jo Baneck, Plainfield, Tony Baneck, Wautoma, Nellie Baneck, Fond du Lac, Emily Baneck, Berlin, and Katie Baneck, Wautoma. Larry is further survived by his parents, Donald and Carolyn Baneck, Freedom; three brothers, Greg (Joanne) Baneck, Freedom, Danny (Becky) Baneck, Freedom, and Donny Baneck, Kimberly; two sisters, Karen "KB" Baneck, Kimberly, Judy Baneck, Freedom. Peggy is further survived by her parents, Ray and Maggie Coenen, Kaukauna; two sisters, Cheri Coenen, Appleton, and Lori (David) Vosters, Appleton. Larry and Peggy are further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Charlie is survived by his brother and sisters, maternal and paternal grandparents, along with aunts, uncles, cousins, classmates and many friends.
    Larry was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jennifer; his grandparents, William and Ida Baneck, and Arthur and Blanche Olinske.
    Peggy was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jennifer; two brothers, Danny Coenen and Dennis "Fuzz" Coenen; her grandparents, Peter and Laura Coenen , Frank and Clara Biese. Charlie was preceded in death by his infant sister, Jennifer; his great-grandparents; and by two uncles, Danny Coenen and Dennis "Fuzz" Coenen.
    Funeral Services will be held at the Wautoma High School gymnasium at noon on Saturday, December 20, 2008 with Rev. Robert L. Stegmann of St. Joseph Catholic Church officiating. A reception will follow at the school. Burial will be in Wautoma Union Cemetery.
    Visitation will be at the Wautoma High School gymnasium on Saturday, December 20, 2008 from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
