    Obituary:
Jerome "Jerry" B. Berghuis, 71, Little Chute, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving wife and daughter at his side on Saturday, August 4, 2012. He was born July 11, 1941, in Little Chute, son of Leo and Hilda (Weiland) Berghuis. On November 3, 1962, Jerry married his sweetheart, Carol Vanevenhoven, at St. John's Catholic Church in Little Chute.
Jerry will forever be known for his story telling, endless supply of jokes, contagious laugh and the ability to put a smile on anyone's face. He cherished the time he spent with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
After 36 years of employment at Thilmany Paper in Kaukauna, Jerry retired in December of 2000. In his retirement, Jerry truly enjoyed his time spent at St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. For years Jerry cut the lawn and kept the cemetery looking beautiful, and took a lot of pride in it. He served as sexton for many years, touching many lives along the way. To know him was to love him.
Jerry was a lifelong member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. He was also a member of the Little Chute Jaycees, St. John's Athletic Association, St. John's Finance Committee, St. John's Cemetery Association, and of Thilmany's Quarter Century Club.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Carol; his daughter, Kara (John) Kramer, Little Chute; his sons: Tim (Molly) Berghuis, Exton, PA, and Dave (Cindy) Berghuis, Farmington, MN; his precious grandchildren: Amanda, Jake, Jordan, Emily and Ben Berghuis and Luke and Katie Kramer; his brother, Eugene Berghuis, Little Chute; brothers- and sisters-in-laws: Robert, Don, Paul (Sue), Bonnie and Janine Vanevenhoven; 19 nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his father- and mother-in-law, Ervin and Martha Vanevenhoven; brothers-in-law: Gerald and John Vanevenhoven; and sisters-in-law: Myra, Susan and Donna Vanevenhoven.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 9, 2012, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Verkuilen Funeral Home, 101 Canal Street, Little Chute, and again at the funeral home from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Military honors will be performed by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258, Little Chute, following mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
Jerry's family would like to express gratitude to the many friends, family, and medical personnel for their compassion and care over the past 15 months.
