Green Bay Gazette, January 7, 1908, Tuesday afternoon paper: Henry Weyenberg passed away at the home of his father Hub, Thursday evenin g. The cause of death was dropsy. The funeral was held Sunday morni ng at 8 o'clock from St.Mary's Church. He was born 60 years ago in Holla nd and came to this country in 1853. For a number of years he lived on a f arm near Wrightstown. He is survived by 8 sons and 1 daughter, his aged fa ther and 3 brothers, W.Weyenberg of Chippewa Falls, P. Weyenberg of Washin gton, and M.Weyenberg of Appleton, and 3 sisters, Mrs.E Verstegen of th is city, Mrs.H.Nabblefeldt of Chippewa Falls, and Mrs. J. Williamson of Wr ightstown.

COUNTY PIONEER M. WEYENBERG DIES AT A GE 97FATHER OF MRS. DANIEL McCARTHY AND MRS. MAURICE EMPEROR OF KAUKAUNAMartin Weyenberg, 97 pioneer in Outagamie County died Wednesday morni ng at his home in Appleton. He was the father of Mrs. Maurice Emperor, 9 47 Wilson St and Mrs Daniel McCarthy, 933 Grignon St. Funeral Services wi ll be held at 10 o'clock this morning, at St. Joseph church, Appleton, wi th internment in the St. Joseph cemetery.He was born in Wanroy, Holland in 1849 and came to Outagamie County wh en he was three years old with his parents who settled on a farm near Litt le Chute. He went into the contracting business in Appleton when he w as 19 years old and during his career he built the first Outagamie Coun ty Courthouse before the Civil War. He also helped build the second courth ouse, which was replaced several years ago with the current building.Teams of oxen were used to drag stone for building both of the two precedi ng courthouses from a stone quarry, which he operated a number of years. M r. Weyenberg was also the builder or helped build a number of the busine ss structures on College Ave.Sometime before the turn of the century, Mr. Weyenberg and a brother beg an a retail shoe business in Chippewa Falls, WI. and in 1900 moved to Milw aukee. They established the Weyenberg Shoe Co. now one of the largest sh oe manufacturers in the middle west. The business is operated today by h is sons, and Frank Weyenberg is President.

1933 Chippewa Falls Herald Telegram Obituary:W.Weyenberg is called by deaty at home Tuesday. Pioneer Shoe Manufactur er and Retailer Passed Away After Three Weeks Illness.William Weyenberg, 74 years old, pioneer shoe retailer and manufactur er of the city, died at his home shortly before 5 o'clock Tuesday afterno on after an illness of more than three weeks. Mr.Weyenberg came to Chippe wa Falls from Appleton in 1885 and engaged in the retail shoe busine ss on Spring Street at the same location now occupied by the Weyenberg Sh oe Store. After about ten years he organized the Weyenberg Shoe Manufac turing Factory Co., the factory being located over the store. The busine ss developed and after disposing of his retail business the manufacturi ng business was moved to Milwaukee in 1900. After living there two years M r.Weyenberg disposed of his interest in the Weyenberg Shoe Manufacturing C o., to his brother Martin, and his nephew F.L.Weyenberg, and returned to C hippewa Falls.After returning here, he purchased the retail shoe business of the E.Pozna nski Co., which he conducted for two years and then organized the L.W.Sh oe Co., with the factory located over his store. This company grew until t he upstairs plant was outgrown, and then the large and modern factory buil ding on E.Central Street was erected. In 1921 the L.W.Shoe Co., was dispos ed of to the Olson Shoe Co., which later was acquired by the Foshay Shoe C o., which later failed when the Foshay intrests collapsed. The buildi ng is now vacant pending disposition of the Foshay holdings. After disposi ng of his interests in the L.W.Co., Mr.Weyenberg retired for two years a nd then purchased the business of the Greenwald Shoe Co., wh ich was located on Bridge Street. This business was moved to his own build ing on Spring Street and he was active in its management until forc ed to retire by illness on March 25. Mr.Weyenberg was active in busine ss affairs of this city and was intrumental in organization of the Chipp ewa Paper Box Co., and the Chippewa Glove Factory. Last year he assist ed in the organization of the Lakeside Shoe Co., which is now manufacturi ng hand made shoes in the factory over the shoe store.Mr.Weyenberg was born at Little Chute, Wisconsin March 25, 1859, and spe nt practically all of his life in Wisconsin. He obtained his educati on in the public schools at Appleton and his first employment was in a la rge chair factory there. After three years with that concern, he went toMi lwaukee where he followed the same line of work for two years when he retu rned to Appleton to work for his old employer. After a year the factory w as destroyed by fire and it was then he became connected with the retail s hoe business. On June 3, 1884, he married Miss Angeline De Kelver at Gre en Bay, Wisconsin, and the following year they came to Chippewa Falls a nd he opened a retail shoe store under his onw name. Besides his extensi ve business activities, Mr.Weyenberg was prominent in Catholic circles thr oughout his life. Being a member of Catholic Knights of Wisconsin, Cathol ic Order of Foresters and the Catholic Federation of Wisconsin. He was al so a member of the Elks Lodge. Surviving are two sons; William A. and L eo C. of this city and three daughters; Helen, now Sr.Cornelia of the Not re Dame Order, Mrs. Charles H.Danner and Mrs.E.F.Stump of this city. Funer al services will be held at Notre Dame Church at 9 o'clock Friday mor ning with internment at Hope Cemetery.

From the book Past and Present of Chippewa County:Among the young men of Chippewa Falls who have made their progressive spir it, their energy, enterprise and ability the basic of an important and sub stantial business success is William A.WEIJENBERG Vice President and o ne of the founders of the L.W.Shoe Company. He is a native son of that ci ty, born March 11, 1885, his parents being William and Angeline (De Kelve r) Weyenberg. The father was at one time a retail shoe merchant in th at city and then moved to Milwaukee, where he founded the Weyenberg Shoe M anufacturing Company, controlling one of the most important concer ns of this chapter in the city. He afterward sold his interests to his bro ther and nephew and returned to Chippewa Falls, where a few years lat er he joined his sons in the organization of the L.W.Shoe Company. He h as always taken an active interest in the developement and growth of Chi ppewa Falls and Chippewa County and is well and favorably known in th is part of the state. William W.Weyenberg acquired his education in No tre Dame School, Chippewa Falls. After he laid aside his books he ente red his fathers retail shoe store in that city and when this was dispos ed of went with the later to Milwaukee, where he took an active part in t he building and development of the manufacturing concern. After William We yenberg Sr. returned to Chippewa Falls and repurchased his former sto re Mr.Weyenberg of this review became manager of the concern, holding th is position for three years. At the end of that time he joined his fath er in the foundation of the L.W.Shoe Co., and he has since been Vice Presi dent of this concern and important element in the growth which makes it t oday one of the leading industrial enterprises in this city. In Chippewa F alls, on the first of May, 1906, Mr.Weyenberg was united in marriage to Mi ss Mary Ottilia Ruf, a daughter to Mr.and Mrs. Anton Ruf, the former a vet ern of the Civil War. He and his wife reside in Chippewa Falls. Mr.and M rs .became the parents of three children, two of whom died in infancy. T he other, Burnadotte M., was born March 26, 1913. Mr.Weyenberg is a memb er of the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church and is a Democrat in his politi cal beliefs, taken an intelligent interest in public affairs without bei ng active as an office seeker. T he following information is in her file.Helen Weyenberg was the daughter of William Weyenberg, a shoe manufactur er and Angeline De Kelver. Helen was born on February 9, 1892 in Chippe wa Falls, Wisconsin. She entered the candidature of the School Siste rs of Notre Dame on Sept. 7, 1915. She received the habit and the name Ma ry Cornelia as a novice in 1917 and took her first vows on July 24, 191 9. She took her final vows on July 16, 1924. Sister left in August of 19 36.The closing remarks on Sister's leaving were touching. "Sister Cornelia h as long felt drawn to a cloistered and contemplative life. It seems certa in that God is calling her to that state where she can serve Him more in a ccordance with the desires of her heart. Sister has been more than 20 yea rs with us and in every way she has been a most exemplary religious. S he has always enjoyed the love and esteem of her Superiors and companion S isters. Sister was never of a robust constitution but was always a busy a nd most competent music teacher. She has a most upright character. May G od love and bless."It is a wonderful tribute to Sister who must have been a very dear perso n. I wish I knew the religious congregation that she joined when she le ft us. Marcella Van Albertson, 90, passed away on May 7, 2008, in Oklahoma City. She was born Oct. 30, 1917, in Wrightstown, Wis., the daughter of Arnold and Elenor Van Den Weymelenburg. On Aug. 11, 1943, she married Ovid A. Albertson. She was a longtime member of Christ the King Church. Marcy enjoyed sewing, quilting and donated many hand made craft projects to charities. She was a powerhouse of activity serving as a PTA president, a homeroom mother, scouting den mother, a dress designer and she loved fabric and color. She made vestments for the Church and was always involved in family, community and Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ovid A. "Al" Albertson; a brother and sister-in-law, John Van Den Wymelenberg and wife, Janet; a sister-in-law, Marie Van Den Wymelenberg; and a brother-in-law, William Merkey.
Survivors include four children, Cindy Silk, Bruce Albertson and wife, Susan, Dennis Albertson and wife, Darla, Jon Albertson; a sister, Ruth Merkey; a brother, Gerald Van Den Wymelenberg; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews.

Mary Van Toll, age 97, died at Parkside Care Center in Little Chute on Saturday, March 16, 2013. She was born in Appleton on December 4, 1915, daughter of the late Ernest and Dora (Vandenberg) Blohm. Mary was one of three children, and was preceded in death by her sister Frances and her brother Norbert. She was a resident of Appleton until 1940 when she married John M. Van Toll in Detroit, Michigan on April 27. The couple returned to Appleton in 1956. Mary was a homemaker and enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing cards.
She is survived by two sons: John W. Van Toll of Appleton and Donald J. (Jackie) Van Toll of Combined Locks; three granddaughters: Jodie (Keith) Huss of Kaukauna, Kristine (Michael) Wallner of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Tracy (Dan) Malsavage of Kimberly; there are two great-grandchildren: Seth Huss and Alexandra Malsavage. There are also many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John in 1996; and a grandson: James Van Toll.
The funeral liturgy for Mary will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette Street in Appleton, with Fr. Thomas J. Farrell officiating. Lawrence G. Driessen, 89, of Appleton, was called home by his Lord and Savior at Cherry Meadows Hospice on Monday, March 9, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.
Lawrence was born on January, 16, 1926, to the late Peter and Nellie (Williamsen) Driessen. As a boy, Lawrence attended St. Johns Catholic School. Later in life, he attended the School of Ministry in Florida. Lawrence was also a member of the Christ for the Nations Bible School in Dallas, TX, and a member of the Chuck Colsan Prison Ministry.
On July 28, 1944, Lawrence entered the military as a PFC CO D, 63rd INF. He received the Purple Heart during WWII in the Philippines, surviving shrapnel wounds from a fragmentary grenade. Lawrence was honorably discharged on July 10, 1946. On June 1, 1950, Lawrence was united in marriage to Lois Van Boxtel, the love of his life for 65 years.
Lawrence had a very strong faith and he used every opportunity to be a witness for Christ. Dad had a very deep love for his family, and greatly enjoyed family activities, including boating, camping, and fishing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather. Lawrence had a number of occupations, including farming, the Waldo Alfalfa Mill, and New Dawn Equipment, an entrepreneur and a visionary.
Lawrence is survived by his wife: Lois; his 7 children: Steve (Joan) Driessen, Spring Hill, TN; Ellen (Ken) Heraly, Kaukauna, WI; Karen (Charlie) Olson, Abrams, WI; Mary (James) Loritz, Kiel, WI; Sandy (George) Koehler, Sherwood, WI; Paul (Jane) Driessen, Darboy, WI; and Amy (Robert) Smith; Saint Cloud, FL; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Lawrence is further survived by 3 sisters and one brother, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, March 13, 2015, at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. RICHMOND ST., APPLETON, with the Rev. Steve Driessen officiating. Family and friends may visit from 2:00 PM until the time of service. Full military honors will follow the service, presented by Jacob Coppus, American Legion Post 258, of Little Chute.

Marilyn Denissen, age 88 of De Pere passed away, August 9th, 2017. She was born on May 22, 1929 in De Pere WI to the late Joseph and Wilhelmenia "Minnie" (Williamsen) DeGroot. She was married on August 19th, 1948 to David Peter Denissen at St Mary's church in De Pere. Dave preceded her in death on April 28, 2003. Marilyn was the first director and helped in the creation of the De Pere Senior Center and the Meals on Wheels program, and led that organization for 20+ years until her retirement. She was involved in many organizations including being elected to the De Pere City Council, a leader in Boy Scout Troop 38 at St Mary's Church for 20 years and receiving awards such as the Silver Beaver award, a leader in the Girl Scouts for 15 years, and Past President of the St Mary's Christian Mother's Association, and many other volunteer endeavors.
She is survived by her children; Mary "Vicki" Denissen and partner Paul Knapp, Paula Denissen and partner Steven Fischer, David and Mindy (Savarese), Tim and Mary (Kralovec), Eric and Chris (Hoffman), Corey and partner Michelle Scholl, and Kyle. Granchildren; Chad, Billinda, (Larry), Ryan (Kelly), Erin (Danny), Kelby, Layla, and Levi, great grandchildren Emmy Lou, Matilda, Kaida, Melayna, and Caleb, son in law; Ron (Pat) Van Den Heuvel.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Dave, daughter Donna Van Den Heuvel, sister Ruth (Mark) Hendricks, and special friend; Ron Morris.

Green Bay - Ronald "Pete" J. Williamsen, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, December 26, 2017, after a 16 year struggle with Parkinson's disease. Born May 24, 1936, in Green Bay, he is the son of Stephen and Genevieve (DeCoster) Williamsen. Fifty-nine years ago on August 30, 1958, Ron married Joanne L. Fink at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc.
Ron "Pete" worked for SuperValu warehouse as a fork life driver and retired after 40 years of service . Ron's idea of fun in the fall was to go duck hunting with his buddies, Dan and Gary. That passion grew as his sons, Chuck and Brian joined him in the marshes around Green Bay and now by his grandsons as well. Ron also loved to spend time on the Bay in the summer racing sailboats at the Windjammers with Dan. Christine and Beth were always eager to crew.
Trailering the Aquarius with Joanne and the four kids up to Little Current, Ontario, in the North Channel, for an extended week of sailing with the Baldwins was his idea of heaven on earth. Ron was a wonderful husband, loving father, loyal friend and all around good guy. He leaves behind many happy memories that will help to fill the hole in our hearts that his parting leaves behind.
Ron is survived by his wife, Joanne; four children, Christine (David) Beard, Charles "Chuck" (Kerry) Williamsen, Beth Ann (Martin) Schingen and Brian (Lisa) Williamsen; four grandsons, Joshua Schingen, Benjamin Schingen, Aaron (Alex) Flietner and Dylan Williamsen; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Genevieve Williamsen; and brother, Richard Williamsen.
Visitation at Spring Lake Church, 2240 Klondike Rd, Green Bay, Friday, Jan. 5th from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m.

Greta (Tembelis) Fravel, 90, Neenah, passed away Friday, June 16, 2017. She was born on December 10, 1926, in Neenah to the late Frank and Margaret (Weyenberg) Poplinsky. Greta was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Parish where she sang in the choir for many years and was active with many church activities. She was a very caring and outgoing person who always had an infectious smile and kind words to say about everyone. She also had a great sense of humor. Greta was active with the Neenah-Menasha Elks Lodge, Meals on Wheels, and enjoyed senior couple's golf, bowling, playing bridge and piano.
She is survived by her daughter: Anne Birling, step-children: Charles (Laverne) Fravel and Judy (Richard) DeBoer, daughters-in-law: Lori (Dan) Keuler and Molly Tembelis, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many relatives and friends.
Greta was preceded in death by her husbands: Emanuel "Mike" Tembelis and William Fravel and sons: John and Paul Tembelis.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 620 Division St., Neenah, with Fr. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah. Visitation will be Wednesday, at the church, from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass.
Greta's family extends their deepest appreciation to the management and staff at Emerald Ridge Assisted Living and Compassus Hospice for their warm and generous care. Special thanks to lifelong family friend (60+ years) Donn Marshall who watched out for Greta's well being over the last 28 years.

Ronald F. Wenzel, 70, Denmark, passed away after a short and courageous ba ttle with cancer Tuesday, October 11, 2005, at a local hospital surround ed by his family. He was born December 1, 1934, in Manitowoc Co., son of t he late Roman and Agnes (Jerabek) Wenzel. He graduated from Brillion Hi gh School, and following entered the United States Army where he served du ring the Korean War from 1954 to 1956. He married Mary Ann Sloma, August 2 2, 1964, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Pine Grove. Ron first worked f or Green Bay Packaging, and then was self-employed in the Denmark area f or many years as an electrician. He later worked at Pauly Cheese and retir ed from Amplas Inc. Ron was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying activities su ch as: hunting, fishing and snowmobiling, and also enjoyed traveling to h is family's land up north. Obituary:
Paul Helmrath, age 87, of Appleton, passed away March 16, 2010, at Manor Care in Appleton. Paul was born July 22, 1922, in Appleton, son of the late John and Catherine Helmrath, and step son to Theresia Zimmer since age 6.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On November 15, 1958, Paul was united in marriage to Ione Letter. The couple has enjoyed 51 years together. He worked for WE Energy for 32 years.
Paul enjoyed his years as a member of Appleton Elks Lodge #337 and was an avid fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers. He was a member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Ione, Appleton; three sons: Jon (Cindy) Helmrath, CO; Michael Helmrath, CO; and Christopher Helmrath, Appleton; three step-children: Paul Raygor, Neenah; Robert Raygor, Appleton; and Barb (Douglas) Cole, Ontario, Canada. He is further survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Marguerite Hart.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 20th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont St. Friends may visit in the Sacred Heart room at church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Jodi Lynn Leas of Elm Grove, born on February 16, 1963, and entered eternal life on August 26, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of Gregory S. Leas and mother of Nicholas and Ben Leas.

Preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Rusch. Loving daughter of Sheldon W. (Diane) Rusch and sister of Sheldon M. (KT) Rusch, and Todd (Kym) Rusch.

Jodi was a true lake girl who loved the north woods, particularly her summer home on Duck Lake in Eagle River, WI. She was a gracious north woods hostess, following the tradition set by her beloved Grandmother, Lillian Weyenberg of Three Lakes, WI. During many memorable summers Jodi hosted family and friends at Duck Lake and never tired of directing activities for the children who adored her. She always looked forward to reuniting with her "summer sisters," especially her beloved cousin Amy Decker who was truly a sister in her heart.
Jodi was a born sports mom; the daughter of a Big 10 baseball player and coach, she was the perfect mom for two athletic boys and she never tired of the numerous rides to soccer and basketball practices and games. She was also a talented writer who published many essays and articles, mostly on the subject of motherhood.
Visitation Monday August 30, 2010 at the funeral home from 4-7p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday August 31, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Visitation Church 1260 Church St., Elm Grove.
