    Obituary:
    Edmund G. Kane, 83, Appleton, died Sunday morning, Aug. 22, 2004, at an Appleton hospital. He was born on Nov. 16, 1920, in De Pere, to the late Edward and Mollie (Shaughnessy) Kane. He was a 1939 graduate of St. Norbert High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 during World War II and on Aug. 29, 1945, he married the former Frances Zegers at St. Mary's Catholic Church in De Pere. Ed owned and operated Kane Plumbing in De Pere, before moving to Sun Prairie to become a state plumbing inspector in Madison in 1958. He spent the remaining years of his career in industrial plumbing sales, retiring in 1984. Ed and Fran enjoyed 20 years of retirement together - wintering in Brownsville, Texas, and golfing regularly. He volunteered countless hours to St. Vincent de Paul where he formed many strong friendships. His interests included golf, Packer games, daily crossword puzzles and, most importantly, his Irish heritage.
    Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Fran; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathy Kane, San Diego, Calif.; Terry and Dick Jorgenson, Neenah; Peggy Kane, Neenah; and Kelly and Brian Webb, Neenah; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Daniel and Betty Kane, La Crosse; Gary Kane, Neenah; and Mike Kane, Green Bay; 13 grandchildren, Tina (Eric) Hansen, Modesto, Calif.; SSgt. Stacee Disko, USAF, England; Lois Disko (fiance, Joe Castner), Akron, Ohio; Jennifer (Torry) Zupke, Fond du Lac, Wis.; Alissa (Ron) Oelfke, Holmen, Wis.; Sean (Elizabeth) Kane, Decorah, Iowa; Katie (Joe) France, Madison, Wis.; Dan Kane, LaCrosse; Christopher Kane, LaCrosse; Jeff (Lisa) Jorgenson, Appleton; Jill (Jeff) Firgens, Appleton; and Ellen and Sam Webb, Neenah; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Francis Kane, De Pere; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and John Van Dyk, Green Bay; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Roy, in 1993, and two brothers, Jerome and Lawrence.
    Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at Lyndahl Funeral Home, Lombardi Ave. at Ridge Rd., Green Bay, where a wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St., Appleton, where a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Schuetze officiating. Interment in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, De Pere.
    Ed's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Drs. Almquist, Goggins and Ayanrino as well as the entire nursing staffs of St. Elizabeth Hospital 4th floor South and Subacute Unit, especially Kathy, Adrienne and Sandra, and the chaplaincy for the special care and comfort provided.

    John was born in Minneapolis, Minn., on Sept. 26, 1940, to Mary Lou (Leonhard) and John Howard Brick. He grew up in Askeaton, Wis. He was the oldest of nine children. He died in his home on Aug. 1, at the age of 73 with family members at his side. At age 16, he began flight lessons which would soon develop into his life-long career and passion.
    He graduated from Parks Aeronautical College as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force. After graduating he met Pat. They were happily married for 52 years.
    John served a 28 year career in the Air Force, accumulating 6,000 hours of flying time in a variety of aircraft such as T-37, T-33, T-38, F-100, 01-E, OV-10, A-7D and the A-10. He earned the Silver Star and the Legion of Merit among other medals. He retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1990.
    In his retirement he built his own airplane (RV4) and flew whenever he got the chance. He said that his wife Pat was the best passenger he could ever ask for! They flew across the country many times visiting family and friends. He was an active member of the EAA, editor for his local chapter newsletter for 15 years and also worked with the Young Eagles. He made many great friends at Pierce County Airport Thun Field.
    John was preceded in death by his parents Mary Lou and John Howard, and brothers David and Denis (Camille). He is survived by his wife Patricia and their three children: Jeff (Pam), Joseph and Laura; grandchildren Eli, Ruby, Jordan and John-Allan; sisters Jeanne (Dave) Trumpy, Mary Claire (Marvin) Matzke, Laurie (Richard) Lambert; brothers Tom (Kathy), Kevin (Sally) and Steven.
    Remembrances may be made to Wounded Warriors. He will be forever missed and loved.
    Friends and Family are welcome to attend his funeral service at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12 at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash. Online condolences may be made at Curnow Funeral Home, in Sumner, Wash. www.curnowfuneralhome.com(http://www.curnowfuneralhome.com)
