    Obituary:
    Rita Van De Hey, Appleton, age 86, died on Saturday, December 8th, 2007, at Oakridge Gardens in Menasha. Rita was born March 23, 1922, to the late Louis and Julia (Heidger) Diermeier. She was a graduate of Appleton High School. During World War II, Rita and her sister, Lucille, moved to Milwaukee to work in a defense plant where she met and married Roy Waier. Roy preceded her in death after sustaining a war related injury. Rita then married longtime friend Robert A. Van De Hey on July 5, 1947, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and they celebrated 58 years together. Bob preceded her in death on December 8, 2005. She was a longtime member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Bob and Rita enjoyed their cottage in northern Wisconsin, playing sheepshead, going to casinos, and the many trips through out the U.S. and Europe. She made many wonderful quilts for friends and family.
    She is survived by her two sons: Dennis (Jane) Van De Hey of Fort Atkinson, WI, and their children, Angela (Michael) Olivero, Erin, Michael and Jacquiline; Dale Van De Hey of Menasha and his children, Tanya (Ned) Johnson, Eric, Amy (Scott) Springstroh, Kelly & Benjamin; her daughter, Dr. Karen (Dr. Steve) Zelie of Denver, CO, and their two children, Joel & Claire. She is further survived by a sister, Lucille Hammerling of Valrico, FL; two brothers, Robert Diermeier of Santee, CA & Claire Diermeier of Appleton; Lloyd (Pat) Van De Hey, Connie (Dorothy) Van De Hey; four sisters-in-law, Mijella Ambrosius, Kelly (Russ) Beck, Marie (Dick) Reetz, Theresa Eiting and many nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Roy, her second husband, Robert, brothers, Leon, Mil, Roche, and Arvilla Van de Hey, Emma and Mary Diermeier, Harry Hammerling, Pauline Van De Hey, Jan LaRue, Bill Eiting, Tim Thiel, Robert Frank, Ray Janus, Nibs Ambrosius, Sly Thiel and Harland Eiting.
    Rita's Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 14, 2007, at ST. BERNADETTE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2331 East Lourdes Drive, Appleton, with Fr. Donald Zuleger officiating. Friends will be received on Thursday, December 13th at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna, from 4 p.m. until a Parish Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m., and again at Friday at Church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity of your choice. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna, is assisting the family. 920-766-2099.
