    Helen Ann Ernst, age 78, passed away at Franciscan Care in Appleton, Tuesday, March 27, 2007. She was born on August 7, 1928, to Alfred and Anna (Maza-netz) Taves in Neenah. She greatly adored her family, loved to play bingo, do crossword puzzles and baking cookies for family and friends. Helen also enjoyed the time she spent at the Senior Center in Menasha.
    She is survived by a son, Dean (Lori) Ernst, Appleton; a daughter, Karen (John III) Hanamann, Appleton; a brother, William Taves, Menasha; a sister, Elizabeth (Marvin) Kofnetka, Neenah; two grandchildren: Sarah Ernst, Madison; Daniel Ernst, Appleton; a sister-in-law, Joyce Parthie, Marion; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors and friends.
    Helen was preceded in death by her husband Donald, parents, stepfather Louis Caron, three brothers: Richard, Alfred Jr. and Harold Taves; a sister, Mary Jane Kolasinski.
    Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2007, at the Valley Funeral Home, with Pastor Martin Ruge officiating. Visitation will take place from 4 p.m. until the time of service. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park. A memorial fund is being established.
    The family would like to say thank you to the nursing staff on 2 South at Appleton Medical Center, with a special thanks to Rita and Amy.

    Dean L. Ernst, age 57, of Appleton, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born on December 12, 1957 in Appleton to the late Donald and Helen (Taves) Ernst. On October 9, 1982, he was united in marriage to Lori Lambie. He graduated from Appleton High School East in 1976, where he was involved in football, basketball and track. He was employed by Neenah Paper Co. for nearly 38 years. Dean enjoyed good music and had a great knowledge of artists and their music. He loved trains and always had a desire to be an engineer, but he loved doing things with his son and daughter most of all.
    He is survived by his wife Lori, daughter Sarah and son Dan, his sister and brother in law, Karen (John) Hanamann and sister in law and brother in law, Ginny (Dan) Koeppl. He is further survived by nieces, nephew, cousins as well as other family and good friends.
    Dean is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
    A funeral service for Dean will be held at 6:00pm, Monday, June 15, 2015 at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St Appleton, with Pastor Mike Huff officiating. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 3:00pm until the time of service.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dean's name may be made to The National Railroad Museum of Green Bay.
