Obituary:
Valeria I. Schoenborn, age 79, of Chilton, died on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at the Colonial Residence in Chilton. She was born May 5, 1929, in Fond du Lac, daughter of the late Gregor and Hattie (Ott) Grenzer. She married Elmer J. Schoenborn on June 21, 1950, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton. He preceded her in death on August 8, 2007. During her life, Val worked at the Calumet Memorial Hospital and later at Great Midwest Savings Bank beginning in 1972 until her retirement in 1985.
She was a member of the Business Professional Women Association. Val enjoyed playing Sheepshead and Solitaire, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. Taking trips to Oneida and going out for fish would always brighten her day, and if she wasn't at home, there was a good possibility you could find her at Wal-Mart. Val adored her grandchildren and always made sure there was a supply of Snickers Bars and Hubba-Bubba Bubble Gum for when they would visit.
Survivors include her children: Michael (Maureen) Becker of NV, Judy (Ted) Meyer of Chilton, Michael Schoenborn of Chilton, Joe (Karen) Schoenborn of Chilton, Ben (Doreen) Schoenborn of Chilton; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Leon Cornellison; two sisters: Joan Jansen of Appleton, Phyllis (Sid) Faulkner of Rantoul, IL; and a sister-in-law, Loretta (Roger) Stephanie. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Mike and Clara Schoenborn; a daughter, Linda Cornellison; and a sister, Alice Berkahn.
Funeral service will be at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2009, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) Chilton with Dcn. Dennis Bennin officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Chilton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 until 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2009, when service will be held. A memorial fund has been established in the name of Valeria I. Schoenborn.
