    Vandenberg, Lucille W. “Ceil ”Lucille W. “Ceil” Vandenberg, 83, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004 at Applet on Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born April 1, 19 21 in Little Chute, daughter of the late John and Delia (Verbeten) Van Gom pel. Lucille married Aloys ‘Bud” Vandenberg Sept. 7, 1942 at St. Bonifa ce Catholic Church, De Pere, and he preceded her in death July 18, 1965. A loys and Ceil owned and operated Van’s Dry Goods, Shiocton for 13 years un til her retirement. Mrs. Vandenberg was a member of St. John Nepomucene Ca tholic Church, Little Chute along with the St. John Resurrection Choir a nd St. John Mission Club. She was also a member of the Jacob Coppus Americ an Legion Auxiliary, Golden Agers and several card clubs. Ceil enjoyed sew ing, crocheting and knitting. She was a world traveler including two missi on trips to Honduras.Mrs. Vandenberg is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Joan (Al) Hangar tner, Kaukauna; three sons and daughters-in-law: Mark V.     Grace proudly served her country during World War II as a Medical Corpsman in the U.S. Army Air Transport Command from 1944 to 1945. She belonged to the American Legion in Little Chute and the American Legion Woman's Auxiliary.

    Grace M. Weiland, age 87, of Kaukauna, passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 16, 2010. Grace was born on August 14, 1922, in Little Chute to the late John and Delia (Verbeten) VanGompel. She married Louis J. Weiland in 1945; he preceded her in death in May of 1980. Grace proudly served her country during World War II as a Medical Corpsman in the U.S. Army Air Transport Command from 1944 to 1945. She belonged to the American Legion in Little Chute and the American Legion Woman's Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, playing her piano, card playing and especially spending time with LeRoy and her family.
    Survivors include her children: Jim (Marge) Weiland, Madison; Sherry (Patrick) Carney, Little Chute; Dorothy Weiland, Kaukauna; Gary (Donna) Weiland; Little Chute; Cindy Pilcher, Louisville, Nebraska; and Amy (Mark) Simon, Kaukauna; her grandchildren: John and Christopher Weiland; Kelly (Tim) Schumacher; Wendy Carney; Tom, Tim, Tracy and Nina Weiland; Hayley and Savannah Pilcher, Austin and Ryan Simon; her great-grandchildren, Sam and Alexis Schumacher; Dustin Perkins, Cheyenne Will, Dahlia Weiland and Nicholas Weiland; her sister, Elaine Wrobel; her brother, Kenneth (Dorothy) VanGompel; her sister-in-law, Frances Monary; and her special friend and companion LeRoy Jensen.
    She was preceded in death by her brothers, Earl and Joe VanGompel, and her sisters, Florence Vandevoort, Ceil Vandenberg and Joanne Newhouse.
    The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 18, 2010, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna, with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of services. Military Honors will be observed following the funeral services. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name.

    Kenneth M. VanGompel, 88, De Pere, was welcomed into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father, Tuesday, August 28, 2012, in De Pere. He was born November 19, 1923 in Little Chute, WI, son of the late John and Delia (Verbeten) VanGompel. Ken graduated from Nicolet High School, De Pere in 1942, and served his country in the United States Army from 1943-1946, where he was a member of the 555th Engineer Heavy Pontoon Battalion, serving in a support role in France and Germany during WWII. He married Dorothy Triebel, February 7, 1948 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Green Bay. He worked at Milprint in De Pere for 39 years as a Machine Operator and Millwright. He was a member of the De Pere Men's Club, Knights of Columbus, and St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in De Pere, where he was an usher. Ken enjoyed golfing, playing cards, especially cribbage and sheepshead, and watching Packer and Brewer games.
    He will be deeply missed by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy; three children: David (Connie) VanGompel, Solon, OH; Mary Lou Kramer, Bristol, CT; and Susan (Dan) Ascher, Sobieski; four grandchildren: Jeffrey (Tami) VanGompel, Jessica (Dan) Wellwood, Michael (Emily) W. VanGompel, and Jeanna Kramer; four great-grandchildren: Tyler and Brooklyn VanGompel, and Jack and Natalie Wellwood; one sister, Elaine Wrobel, Madison, WI; one sister-in-law, Marlene Triebel, Green Bay; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Jeanne; one son, James; six brothers and sisters: Florence Vandevoort, Joseph VanGompel, Ceil Vandenberg, Grace Weiland, Earl "Duke" VanGompel, and Joanne Newhouse.
    Family and friends may call Friday, August 31, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, where there will be a Parish Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., conducted by Steve Donovan, Pastoral Minister. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St., De Pere. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday at church, with Fr. Richard Getchel officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.     Earl J. “Duke’’ Van Gompel, 76, De Pere, passed away as a result of hea rt complications on Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at a local hospital, with h is family at his side. The son of the late John and Delia (Ver Beten) V an Gompel was born April 28, 1926, in Little Chute. He married Theresa Jak abowski at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, Green Bay on May 10, 19 52. Mr. Van Gompel served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and the U. S. Army. He enjoyed his trips to Las Vegas, hunting, fishing, golf, bowli ng and playing cards. He was a member of the Concerned Hearts Club. Duke o perated the West Side Bowling and Bar for six years. He had worked as a ma chine tender at Nicolet Paper Company for many years prior to his retireme nt in 1988.
    Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Theresa; children, Lynn and Ken Ne lson, Dan Van Gompel, Cindee Luedtke and her special friend, Alan Kocoure k; and grandchildren, Chad and Stacey Nelson, Kari, Jennifer and Billy Lue dtke. He is also survived by his siblings, Ken and Dorothy Van Gompe l, De Pere; Ceil VandenBerg, Little Chute; Grace Weiland, Kaukauna; Joan ne Newhouse, Appleton; and Elaine Wrobel, Madison.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael; one sister, Flo rence Vande Voort; and one brother, Joe Van Gompel.

    Joan A. Newhouse, age 75, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 12, 2009, surrounded by family. She was born October 5, 1933, in Little Chute, daughter of the late John and Odelia (Verbeten) Van Gompel. Joan married Wesley "Bud" Newhouse on September 14, 1957, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna. They had eight children raising them in Appleton and Freedom. Joan worked at Anchor Foods for a short time, but her most beloved job was as mother and homemaker. Joan loved traveling and reading.
    Joan is survived by her husband, Bud, and their eight children: Terri (Newhouse) Renkens, Jeff (Karen) Newhouse, Doug (Jenny) Newhouse, Sandy (Newhouse) Verbeten, Dan (Margi) Newhouse, Tim (Claudia) Newhouse, Karen Newhouse, and Julie Newhouse. She is further survived by 17 grandchildren: Josh and Jason Renkens, Stephanie (Newhouse) Cramer and Stacy Newhouse, Doug and Rebekah Newhouse, Corey, Tyler and Travis Van Kauwenberg, Nikki (Van Kauwenberg) Stingle, Logan, Luke, and Carly Newhouse, Jeremy Amerson and Colin Gast, Kasey Otis and Mikayla Newhouse; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters: Grace Weiland and special friend Leroy, Elaine Wrobel; and brother, Ken (Dorothy) VanGompel.
    She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Florence VanDeVoort and Ceil Vandenberg, brothers: Joe and Earl VanGompel, and grandson Steven Newhouse.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 17, at St. John's Catholic Church in Little Chute. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 16. Visitation will continue on Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of Mass.

    Mark V. Vandenberg, 64, of Little Chute, passed away peacefully with his loving daughter at his side on Thursday, April 7, 2016. He was born December 7, 1951, son of the late Aloys "Bud" and Lucille (Van Gompel) Vandenberg.
    He shared his love for music singing for many years with the Fox Valleyaires Barbershop Chorus and was musically inclined. He enjoyed playing guitar, banjo, and piano, entertaining others, working in agriculture, travelling, attending the EAA and car shows. Mark was a member of the Allouez Assembly 4th Degree Honor Guard and past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council 10919.
    Mark is survived by his daughter, Danielle Vandenberg, siblings: Joan (Al) Hangartner, Dennis (Sheryl) Vandenberg and Karl (Mary) Vandenberg, along with his nieces, nephews, other relatives, and cousin Jim Mischler who was one of Mark's best friends and many other friends.
    Family and friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 5:00 p.m. with Msgr. Jim Vanden Hogen officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.     Daniel J. Van Gompel, 51, Green Bay, died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 3, 2008. He was born Feb. 14, 1957, to the late Earl and Theresa (Jakubowski) Van Gompel. Dan graduated from West De Pere High School in 1975, were he had been a stand out athlete. He had also been involved in the Pink Flamingo Tournament. He recently had been employed at Packerland Packing as an electrician.
    He is survived by his sisters, Lynn (Ken) Nelson, Cindee Luedtke and her special friend, Alan Kocourek, all of Green Bay. Dan is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Chad and Stacey Nelson, and Kari, Jennifer, and Bill Luedtke, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.
    His parents, his brother Michael, and his grandparents preceded him in death.

He is survived by his parents, Jeffrey and Karen Newhouse, Menasha; two si sters, Stephanie and Stacy Newhouse, Menasha; his paternal grandparents, J oan and Wesley "Bud" Newhouse Jr., Little Chute; his maternal grandmothe r, Marie Young, Appleton; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Steven was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Howard Young; h is great-grandmother, Myra Newhouse; and great-grandfather, Wesley Newhou se Sr. Funeral services for Steven will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 8, 20 04, at the funeral home. Visitation will be from 12 noon until the ti me of services. A memorial has been established. "Sometimes it feels unfair because some people waste their lives and I h ad to fight so hard for mine" The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at St. Elizabeth Hospi tal, Dr. Diane Puccetti, Dr. Marcela Popescu and their staff at Universi ty Hospital in Madison, and a very special thank you to Dr. Kurt Heyrman f or all the care given to Steven over the years.
