Obituary:
Eleanor J. "Toots" Surman, 85, Neenah, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012. After a long and painful illness, she is now back with her husband of 66 years. She was born March 8, 1927, in Kaukauna, daughter of Elmer and Louise (Blaire) Sauer. Eleanor married Verge Surman November 6, 1946, in Neenah. She was a wonderful, caring wife and mother, and took exceptionally good care of her family. Eleanor loved gardening and spending time with her many close friends. She was a member at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Neenah.
Eleanor is survived by her children: Sandy (Bob) Frozé, Neenah; Patricia (Mark) Lorge, Menasha; Nancy Surman, Neenah; 5 grandchildren: Chris Frozé (Aimee), Travis (Jill) Frozé, Paul Van Wychen, Mallory Lorge and Elizabeth Lorge; 9 great grandchildren: Matthew, Mitchell, Kyle, Madelyn, Jack, Molly, Brianna, Henry and Emma; sister, Carol "Cookie" (Dave) Liebhauser; brothers and sisters-in-law: Rita Sauer, LaVern (Chick) Surman, Virginia Wachtendonk, Lavina "Blondi" (Ervin) Stephani, Violet (Norm) Blohm, Verona (Jerry) Martin, twin sisters, Roselee Schwietzer and Rosemary Burton; a special family member, Kim Garvey; and many wonderful nieces and nephews and other family members and friends.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her dear Husband Verge on November 9, 2012; her parents; brother Bob Sauer; sister-in-law, Roseann Sauer; and a brother-in-law, Dick Wachtendonk.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, December 7, 2012, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger St., Neenah, with Fr. Larry Seidl officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah. Visitation will be Friday at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Eleanor's name.
Eleanor's family would like to express a very special thank you to the staffs at Island Shores and Oakridge Gardens for your wonderful care given to Eleanor.
