    Fernald George Cavert, Sr., age 76, died peacefully on Monday, May 20, 2013. Fernald was born October 5, 1936 in Appleton; son of the late Fernald and Loraine (Werner) Cavert.
    Fernald was united in marriage to Phyllis Pranke on June 18, 1966 in Hermantown, MN. He was formerly employed with the City of Appleton in the Sanitation Department for over 21 years of faithful service. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, shooting pool, playing bingo and going to the casino occasionally.
    He is survived by his children, Dawn (Randy) Gevelinger, Fernald (Carrie) Cavert, Jr.; four grandchildren, Matthew, David, Daniel, and Kala Cavert; and two sisters, Diane Yarne and Ellen Cavert. Fernald was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis in 2011; by two sons, William and Rodney Cavert; and by four sisters and five brothers.
    The funeral service for Fernald will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Star of Hope Mausoleum Chapel, 3131 N. Richmond Street, Appleton. Fernald's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday at the chapel from 10:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.     Mary M. Kortz, 71, died Thursday September 29, 2011 at Bellin Health Center. She was born in Appleton, November 13, 1939, daughter of the late Fernald and Lorraine (Warner) Cavert.
    Mary loved making handmade quilts, but more than making them she loved to give them away. One year each family member received a beautiful handmade quilt for Christmas. For many years she would donate a quilt to a ladies outreach. She enjoyed spending time with her Grandchildren, canning, making cookies, and special treats. With all our hearts, We Love You Mom.
    Mary is survived by her four children; Penny (Robert) Benzschawel, Chilton; Terry Manka, Menasha; Tim (Rhonda) Manka, Black Creek; and Tammy Manka, Neenah; 12 Grandchildren; Tara; Cherry; Amanda; TJ; Bobbie; Tonya; Stephanie; Dieshon; Samuel; Cortisha; Eric; and Kate; 12 Great-Grandchildren; Bryson; Tanisha; Ramon; Ferando; Chayanna; Naome Rose; Juanito; Isaiah; Treishon; Isaiah; Eli; and Ramiyah; two brothers; Robert (Barb) Cavert, Sherwood; and Russell (Sandy) Kamine, Iola; two sisters; Ellen Cavert, Appleton; and Diane (Clyde) Yarne, Brillion.
    She was preceded in death by a daughter; Peggy Cottrell; and seven brothers and sisters.
    A celebration of Mary's life will be held Sunday October 2, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the VALLEY FUNERAL HOME. Visitation will be at the Funeral Home on Sunday beginning at 11:00 AM until the time of service.
    In lieu of flowers please bring non-perishable food items to be donated to the Salvation Army.

    Robert was born in Appleton, WI, on January 13, 1942. Robert graduated from Appleton High School and went on to serve in the military and attended college.
    Robert was married to Barbara Cavert (Fischer) on November 12, 1999; they were married 13 years.
    Robert recently retired from work. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends especially with his granddaughter, Alyssa, golfing and solving crossword puzzles.
    Robert is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children, Kimberly, Kristin and Gregory; his step-children, Pamela and Russel; his grandchildren, Jackson, Kai, and Alyssa; his sisters, Diane and Ellen; his brothers Russell and Fernald Jr., and other family and friends.
    Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Fernald and Loraine; his brothers, James, infant brother, William, Gerald, Thomas; and his sisters, Marjorie, Mary, Virginia, and Leova.
