Obituary:
Lorraine A. Van Alstine (Lorraine Shaw), age 96, Winneconne, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 1, 2006, at Care Partners Assisted Living in Winneconne. Lorraine was born September 10, 1909, in Black Creek, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Arnold and Rose (Krackenberg) Shaw. She was married to Ralph Van Alstine July 28, 1934, and lived in Neenah most of her life, where she was a long time member of the First Methodist Church in Neenah.
Lorraine was an avid sports fan and particularly delighted in the activities and achievements of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lorraine is survived by a son, Robert (Retha Martin) Van Alstine of Columbus, Georgia; a daughter: Judie Hribernik of Winneconne; five grandchildren: Mark Van Alstine of Neenah; Brian Van Alstine of Clovis, California; Craig Van Alstine of Lakewood; Julie (Jeff) Skinner of Neenah; and Kristy (Peter) Jouflas, Grand Junction, Colorado. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband Ralph; a grandson Todd Spellman; a son-in-law James Hribernik; brothers Edward (Louise) Shaw and Douglas Shaw; a sister Elaine Seims; and several brothers-and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2006, at the Star of Hope Chapel at Highland Memorial Park, 3131 North Richmond Street in Appleton with Rev. Tim Vanden Langenberg officiating. Friends may call directly at the cemetery chapel on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Care Partners for their loving care during the past year.
