    Obituary:
    Ray F. Gevelinger, age 88, of Appleton, passed away peacefully at his home with his beloved wife by his side on Thursday, March 14, 2013. Ray was born in Appleton on August 6, 1924 to the late Charles and Esther (Koehnke) Gevelinger. After graduating high school, Ray proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II with the 43rd Mechanized Calvary in the European Theater under General Patton. He was awarded the Purple Heart along with other distinguishing medals for his faithful and dedicated service.
    On November 19, 1946, Ray was united in marriage to Dolores Meier at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Appleton. The couple has enjoyed 66 years together. Ray was a born salesman. He worked at Wichmann Furniture Store and then as a sales manager for Gabriel Furniture for many years, retiring in 1989. Ray enjoyed golf, playing cribbage, and traveling - but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a diehard Packer fan and a true blue Chicago Cubs fan. Ray was a 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus and a 50 year member of the Catholic Knight Society. Ray was a longtime and active Charter Member at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, where he was an usher for many years.
    Ray is survived by his wife Dolores, Appleton; two sons: Randall (Dawn) Gevelinger, Appleton, and Ray Gevelinger Jr, Appleton; daughter Pamela Gevelinger, Appleton; 4 grandchildren: Adam, Kristina, and David Gevelinger, and Matthew Priebe; 2 brothers: George (Beatrice) Gevelinger, Menasha and Walter Gevelinger, Appleton. He is further survived by nieces and nephews.
    Ray was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Sophie Therese, and stepfather Joseph Smyrneos.
    A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday, March 18, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1810 N. McDonald St., with Father Gerald Falk officiating. Friends may visit directly at the church on Monday from 9 am until the time of service. Entombment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
    The family would like to extend a special thank you to Father Gerald Falk and ThedaCare at Home Hospice, especially Laura, for their compassionate care shown to Ray.

    Ray F. Gevelinger Jr. 'Rayme' 56, Appleton, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 25, 2015. Ray was born in Appleton on October 25, 1959 to Raymond F. and Dolores (Meier) Gevelinger Sr. He graduated from Appleton East High School in 1978. Ray loved fishing, boating, golfing, bowling, cooking and gardening. He was an avid Packer fan and a lifetime member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Ray will be remembered for his generous and loving nature.
    Ray is survived by his mother, Dolores Gevelinger, Appleton; a brother, Randall (Dawn) Gevelinger, Appleton; a sister, Pamela Gevelinger, Appleton; 1 niece and 3 nephews: Adam, Kristina and David Gevelinger and Matthew Priebe.
    He was preceded in death by his father and an infant sister, Sophie Therese.
    A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1810 N. McDonald St., with Father Gerald Falk officiating. Friends may visit directly at the church on Saturday from 10am until the time of service. Entombment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
