    Much information on this family came from Kathleen Robl in November 2001.Originally had Appleton as birthplace for Frank but Kathleen Robl list ed as Oshkosh.
    The <1930 Census Description>ED Page <1930 Census Date>1930<1930 Census Place> <1930 Census Notes> lists an additional child (listed last and out of age orde r), a Frank Jr. age 5. Per youngest daughter Kathleen..Hi, Jay -That w as an interesting scan you sent. The address was 724 - the Clark siste rs lived downstairs and we lived upstairs. All I can say is the "Frank J r" was an error on the part of the census taker, or maybe the Clark siste rs gave the information and mentioned the father as Frank J. Binder, J r. My grandfather was Frank Binder so my father was the "Jr." Also the o rder and ages of two of the girls are listed wrong. It was Frances, Rober t, Stanley, Adelaide (age 8), Marcella, (age 6) and then me. I can't ma ke out my age (unless it was 2-1/2) but I was born in 1927 so in 30, that 's what I would have been. If there had been a child (Frank, Jr. age 5 ), he would have been between Marce and me, and believe me, that DID NOT H APPEN.

    Young Wife Dies - Mrs. Anna Binder Ruedinger, wife of Edmund Ruedinger, died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Binder, 636 Eleventh Street at 3:30 o'clock Friday afternoon. Death was preceded by an illness of several months.
    Mrs. Ruedinger was born June 16, 1906 in Oshkosh. She lived in this city all her live and was united in marriage to Edmund Ruedinger June 29, 1926. She received her education at St. Vincent's School of this city.
    She is survived by her husband, her parents and one son, Harold James Ruedinger. She is also survived by four brothers, Frank Binder, E.A. Binder, Karl L. Binder, Richard M. Binder, all of this city, and four sisters, Miss May Binder, Miss Rose Binder, Miss Theresa Binder, and Miss Helen Binder, all of Oshkosh.
    The funeral will be held at 9 o'clock Monday morning from St. Vincent's Catholic Church. Rev. Aloys Bastian will officiate. Internment will be at the family lot at Riverside Cemetery.

    Sorry, I don't have an obituary for Sr. Laurice.
    My sister Frances wrote a Binder family history a long time ago and to quote her: "Tressie went to the Notre Dame Convent, Milwaukee at the age of fourteen following her graduation from the eighth grade at St. Vincent's. She is known as Sister M. Laurice and has taught school continually since then. She has taught in parochial schools in Milwaukee, Chicago, Gary, Ind., and now is teaching in Elgin, Ill. She was given a trip to Rome in celebration of her Golden Jubilee. Amazingly, she was present at the same public audience on a Wednesday that I was. It was John Paul II's last audience prior to his first return visit to Poland following his Papal consecration. Aunt Tress earned her Bachelor's degree from Loyola University, Chicago following many years of summer school and studies."
    In addition to the above, I can remember that she was the nun in charge of St. Joseph's Orphanage in Green Bay for a number of years.

    Sister Laurice Binder (1911-2002

    Teresa Binder was one of the younger of the fourteen children of Frank and Mary (Sitter) Binder of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, six of whom had died before she wrote her autobiographical notes during her novitiate (1929-1930).
    Of course, in a home of immigrants from Bohemia-Bavaria, a father's work could scarcely cover the needs of such a large family, so there was an ordered poverty and necessary training in "doing without."
    But Teresa was a diligent pupil at St. Vincent School where the Notre Dame Sisters taught; so she came at age fourteen with the security of a good education and good study habits, and ready for high school in the Juniorate.
    Through serious application in the novitiate, in practice teaching and teaching ten years at Holy Angels, Gary, and three more at St. Margaret of Scotland in Chicago, summer schools and Saturday classes, she earned her B.A. degree in 1945 with emphasis on Social Studies, History and English. With such a wide range of interest, young Sister Laurice was becoming a broadly educated teacher with a sense of responsibility that prepared her for real service in education.
    She was ready then to fill the role of "mother" at the orphanage in Green Bay from 1946-52. She earnestly and lovingly organized the life and learning of the children for whom she showed a strong, personal concern which characterized the spirit of the institution, its gardening, laundering, housekeeping and the nurturing and education of the children.
    Then she taught the eighth grade classes in Chicago, at the Academy, St. Ambrose, St. Alphonsus for eight years, after which she carried the responsibility of principal for fourteen years, ten of them at St. Michael's in Chicago. Here she did uncommonly well, handling a mixed and changing elementary school with a strong but gentle directness. She required that everyone, both students and teachers, work hard and with exactness according to a well-planned program. Her successor found clear evidence of a "skilled school administrator." Sister Laurice herself worked hard at every aspect of her position, even personally involved in keeping the school in excellent condition, physically as well as educationally.
    She left Chicago in 1975, and until 1987 worked in schools in cities of northern Illinois-Sterling, Elgin and Aurora. Then she began another career as helper in several homes, at age 76. But her most special service in Aurora was her being companion, friend, support and nurse for Sister Teresa Herrera through her time of cancer treatment and suffering.
    Sister Laurice was more than a teacher or principal; she was an active and joy-making community member. Her wide, radiant smile, her capacity for understanding, for joining and for arranging celebrations and games made her a vital part of any community.
    Even at St. Anthony's Home in Crown Point, where she spent the last five years of her life, she was an active participant in festivities and visiting inmates, and in the Bible group. Toward the end, she could not communicate but she smiled, and the nurses loved her.
    She died October 31, 2002, and was buried from the Academy at Holy Sepulchre.

    On Aug 22, 2011, Robert E. Binder, 92, was taken to his eternal reward on the Feast Day of the Queenship of Mary. He was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, Oshkosh.
    Robert was born April 18, 1919 in Oshkosh. He married Ruth Mertz on May 23, 1946 at St. Vincent Catholic Church, Oshkosh.
    He served his country as a Medic in the U.S. Army Infantry and was later transferred to the Army Air Force as a Staff Sergeant in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of War, 58th Bomb Wing from April 1941 and returned home on Thanksgiving Day, November 1945 .
    Throughout his life, he enjoyed hunting, boat/skiff building, baking bread, sled dog racing, bicycle touring, logging, working with his 1-man sawmill and last, but not least - WOODWORKING. He enjoyed the lost art of "wood steaming" to create the bends and curves desired for building furniture, church altars, dog sleds, and carriage/sleigh restorations. He was a detail-oriented carpenter with a firm belief in the quality of building.
    As a carpenter/cabinet maker, Robert worked for CR Meyer and retired in 1983. He was a man of many talents, loved challenges, and had a great love for life. His priorities in life were: 1) God, 2) his family, and 3) woodworking. He had a positive outlook on life and a great willingness to help others, whether is was for his family, friends, or people he didn't even know. He was an inspiration to others.
    Robert is survived by Ruth, his wife of 65 years, and his five children: Susan (Donald) Killilea of Oshkosh, Catherine Nordhaus of Oshkosh, Mary (Jeffery) Wolk of Oshkosh, Theresa (Edward) Wyrembeck of Sheboygan, and Ann (George) Leroux of Fond du Lac. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren: Christine and Elizabeth Nordhaus; Molly, Robert, and Kathryn Wolk; Nicholas and Lucas Wyrembeck; and Megan, Aaron, and Theodore Leroux. He also is survived by his sisters: Kathleen Robl of Oshkosh and Adelaide Murphy of Illinois; and his brothers: Stanley (Therese) Binder, and John (Lynn) Binder. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary (Green) Binder, and his sisters: Frances Brown and Marcella Reynolds.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 26, at 11:00 a.m. in Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, (St. Peter's Church) with the Rev. Fr. James Jugenheimer officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
    A special thank you to the Evergreen Staff, Lakeshore Manor and Affinity Hospice for their care and compassion given to Robert.

    Philip E. "Bud" Binder, of King WI., formerly of Oshkosh, died Sunday October 28, 2012 in Appleton Medical Center. Phil was born in Oshkosh on May 12, 1928 the son of the late Edward and Rose Phillips Binder. He served his country in The U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Phil worked alongside his father running Binder Insurance Agency. He served his community as Algoma Town Treasurer, and Winnebago County Supervisor.
    Survivors include two sons; Michael (Susan) Binder, of Hoover AL., Brian (Kristine) Binder, El Cajon CA., three daughters; Cheryl (Ricky) Bowlin, Memphis TN., Bonnie (fiance Mark West) Hesselman, Appleton WI., Beth (William) Lippert, Oshkosh, ten grandchildren; Dana, Philip, Alex, Stephanie, Jonathon, Maxwell, Porter, Bob, and John Todd, Tyler; one great-granddaughter, Maria; his significant other; Dolores Feuerhammer.     72, of Appleton, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospital after fighting a courageous battle with Mantel Cell Lymphoma. Paul was born in Oshkosh, WI on August 31, 1942 to the late William and Mary (Binder) Steckbauer. He and Mary Mislinski wed on April 23, 1962. Paul was a Maintenance Electrician at Kimberly-Clark Corp. retiring at the age of 59. He was an avid duck hunter and a member of the Maine Mallards Oshkosh Gun Club.
    Paul will be missed by his wife, Mary; children: Paul, Joseph (Beth), Thomas (Lisette) and Stephen (Sheri); ten grandchildren: Thomas, Meghan, Jeffrey, Jason, Stephen, Zoey, Elizabeth, Alexandra, Thomas and Isabella; six great-grandchildren; siblings: Margaret Steckbauer, Jo Ann Hammen, Virginia (Ernst) Lisek and James Steckbauer; two special friends: Kathy and Ed and Karen

    Harold James "Jim" Ruedinger, 80, life-long resident of Oshkosh passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Saturday, July 7, 2007. Jim was born in Oshkosh on May 2, 1927 to the late Edmund and Anna (Binder) Ruedinger. His marriage to Donna M. Eaton began on April 14, 1951 and has been steadfast these past 56 years.

Also surviving are grandchildren, Erik Ruedinger, Jeremy (Amy) Ruedinger, Tina Hietpas, Tonya Rae Lamers, Ashleigh Ruedinger, Michael Torres, Abby Wilson, Adam Wilson, Danielle Heifort, Sgt.     Thomas J Binder, 82, Oshkosh, passed away on Wednesday January 27 with family at his side.
    Born May 7, 1933 he was the son of Richard and Mary (Mateyka) Binder. Tom attended St. Vincent's grade school and graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1951. While serving in the Army, he was stationed in Germany.
    Binder Dairy/Binder Beverages was a great part of Tom's life. Good old Bireley's Orange! After the business was sold, Tom worked for EAA, Oshkosh Northwestern and Automotive Supply. Over the years he belonged to Ohio St. Civic, Eagles and Knights of Columbus. EAA week was a highlight for decades as the event grounds surrounded his parents' home and the business. He was also a fan of Wheel of Fortune.
    Tom is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Pat, daughters Lynn Binder and Mary Ann (Doug) Wagner; sons Tom Jr., Tim (Marie), Jim (Rita), Dave and Jeff (Paula); 9 grandchildren; Chuck Wagner, Angela Schuhart, Heidi Swanson (Matt), Richard, Sam, Hailey, Steph, Andrew- all Binders, and Eric Flanagan. Tom also leaves behind 7 great grandchildren: Connor, Drew, Cody, Lucas, Quinn, Madison and Kal-el; twin sisters: Beats Tank and Barb (Ray) Panske; plus many nieces and nephews.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Feb.2, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Jude the Apostle Parish, St. Vincent site, 216 W. South Park Ave, the Rev Wm. VandeKreeke officiating. Family and friends may call Monday, Feb. 1, 2016 from 4-7pm at the Fiss and Bills Poklasny Funeral Home and from 9am until the time of services Tuesday at the Church.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials will benefit St Jude's and hospice. The family wishes to thank Fr. Bill, Dr. Andrasko and Affinity Hospice-especially Jenna, for their care of Tom.
