DIES AT 94, Mrs. George Weyenberg, Sr., one of Outagamie County's oldest settlers, died Sunday morning in the Town of Vandenbroek. She was 94 years old and had lived in the county nearly 90 years.
Pioneer Resident of County Is Dead
Mrs. George Weyenberg, Sr., 94, a resident of Outagamie county nearly 90 years, died Sunday morning at the home of her son, George, in the town of Vandenbroek. She had been ill two weeks. One of the oldest pioneers of the county, both from standpoint of actual age and number of years residence, Mrs. Weyenberg is survived by six daughters, four sons, 56 grandchildren, and 107 great grandchildren. Born in Holland July 10, 1846, she came to the United States in 1850, settling in the town of Vandenbroek where she lived until her death. The daughters are Mrs. Adrian Hietpas, Mrs. John Diedrich, town of Vandenbroek; Miss Nellie Weyenberg, Clintonville; Mrs. John Stoop, Grand Chute; Mrs. Henry Hietpas, Little Chute; Mrs. John Derks, Kaukauna. The sons are George and Theodore, town of Vandenbroek; William, Tigerton, Peter, Kaukauna. Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning at St. John's church, Little Chute."

HISTORY OF OUTAGAMIE COUNTY
The one biography for Theodore Weyenebrg covers Theodore born 1810, his son Theodore born 1840 and his grandson Theodore born 1868.
Theodore Weyenberg was born December 20, 1868 on the old homestead, a nd he received his education in the district schools of the neighborhoo d, his boyhood and youth being spent in work on the farm with the excepti on of seven winters, when he was employed in the northern woods, in 18 94 he was married to Georgiana Jansen, who was born in Vandenbroek, Janua ry 1, 1874, daughter of Mathew and Anna (Harchiss) Jansen, and received h er education on the neighboring district schools. After his marriage, Mr.W eyenberg, the farm he is now operating, and through hard and inremitting e ffort has brought it into a high state of cultivation. He had greatly impr oved the buildings, has fenced his farm neatly, and ranks high among Vande nbroek Townships substantial farmer-citizens. He and his are devoted membe rs of St.John's Catholic Church of Little Chute. They have had nine childr en, of whom two died; Mary, who's death occured in infacy, and Gertrude, w ho passed away when two years old. The survivors are; George, Annie, Ma ry (II), Rose, Mathew, Dora and Hattie. Mrs.Weyenberg is also of Holland d escent. Het parents having come from that country in 1865 and settled in O utagamie County.
Theodore died in 1946.

The Rev.J.Sprangers officiated. The attendents we re Miss Rose Weyenberg, a sister of the groom, and Willard Van Den Heuve l, cousin of the bride. The bride was gowned in a pretty white Canton cre pe dress with a veil and carried a bouquet of roses. The bridesmaid was go wned in a pretty pink crepe gown and carried a bouquet of pink carnatio ns. About 100 couples were present and a delicious wedding dinner and sup per was served. She preceded him in death in 1946. He then married V irginia Kortz on November 27, 1948. They enjoyed over 50 years together a nd celebrated their golden anniversary in 1998. Matt worked at Thilmany Pu lp and Paper for seventeen years. He then operated a dairy farm in the To wn of Vandenbroek until his retirement in 1961. When he first operated t he farm he raised bees and made his own honey. Following his retiremen t, he continued living at the farm. Henry Weyenberg, age 98, Little Chute, passed away peacefully Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Parkside Care Center, surrounded by his loving family. Hank was born March15, 1914, in the Town of VandenBroek, son of the late Theodore and Georgianna (Jansen) Weyenberg. He married Florence (Bloy) Weyenberg on April 25, 1936, sharing 63 years of marriage until her death in December 1999. Their only son Roman A. Weyenberg also preceded Hank in death on August 6, 2006. Hank was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. He was employed by Kimberly Clark Corp. as a painter and in field service until his retirement in 1977. Hank enjoyed many years of retirement building his home in Little Chute using the many trades he learned throughout the years and sharing those talents with family and friends. Grandpa will be remembered for playing volleyball, marble game, sheepshead and swimming at their home on Lake Poygan. All of us will cherish the memories made annually at his birthday celebration at Van Abels in Hollandtown. We will miss our Grandpa!
Survivors include his seven grandchildren: Ken (Wendy) Weyenberg, Ted (Cindy) Weyenberg, Roman Weyenberg Jr., Sandy (Don) Miller, Gary Weyenberg, Terry Cotter, Sally Holzwarth; 14 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Jean (Hooyman) Weyenberg; sisters-in-law: Mabel DeGraves and Margaret Gresel; brothers- in-law: Leonard (Shirley) Bloy and Adolph (Charlotte) Bloy Jr.; many nieces and nephews and special godchildren.
Along with his wife and son, Hank was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Shirley (Stadler) Weyenberg, brothers and sisters: Mary Weyenberg, George Weyenberg, Ann (Weyenberg) Dercks, Mary II (Weyenberg) Van Dera, Rose (Weyenberg) VandenHeuvel, Gertrude Weyenberg, Matthew Weyenberg, Dora (Weyenberg) Hogan, Hattie (Weyenberg) Fox and Frances Weyenberg.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012, at St. John Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Fr. Jim Hablewitz officiating. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of the mass.
A memorial has been established in Henry's name.
The family would like to thank Hank's dear friends Jeff and Diane VanAsten, Betty Wydeven, Alice Mignon, Katie Kuepper and John Gloudemans for their countless visits and time spent with him. Mrs. John Heindel (Minnie Weyenberg) formerly of 04 Desnoyer St. Kaukaun a, age 91, died Tuesday, December 5 1995 at St.Pauls Home. She was bo rn August 17, 1904 in Kaukauna, the daughter of the late Peter and Cathe rine (Jansen) Weyenberg. Minnie married John Hendel on June 26, 1923 at Ho ly Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna. They celebrated their 72nd wedding ann iversary this past June. She enjoyed playing cards, especially her Tuesd ay Bridge Club. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, the Ladi es of Holy Cross and the Catholic Order of Foresters. She was surviv ed by her husband John, two sons, David Heindel, Greenbay, Tom Heindel, K aukauna, a daughter and son in-law, Germaine and Lloyd Wink.

Henry J.Weyenberg Locy was weeding in his garden on Wilson St. in the Village of Little Chute when once again his eyes focused on the large red brick house and farm across the field on the other side of the tracks. Even though his home on Wilson St. had a small barn garage, two cows and a large garden, the house was too small for his family. As he stood there he began to daydream about his life, and how he came to live in this house. He was born September 22, 1904, above his father's saloon, Main St., Little Chute (the builiding is still standing). Henry's father, John Weyenberg, died in 1908 at the age of 34 and mother, Mary Van Dommelen Weyenberg, died in 1914 at the age of 35. Henry was ten years old and a month after his mother's death, he was adopted by Bert and Louisa Locy, and came to live with them in this home. Henry's younger brother Sylvester, 8 years of age was adopted by Charley and Ann McGregor of Fon Du Lac. His older brothers, George 15, and William 14, and older sister Mayme 12, were taken to live with a farm family in Rudolph to work for their keep. Henry was very lonely without his family and cried himself to sleep often. He kept in touch with his brothers and sister all of his life.The Locy's had no children and at a young age, Henry did whatever work he could to make money. At the age of 15, he got a job at Thilmany's Mill in Kaukauna, which he walked to and from every day. For many years he worked the night shift. After 47 years, he retired In 1925 Henry married Geraldine Nelson in St.John's Catholic Church in Little Chute. Geraldine was not of age to marry, so her stepfather, Casey, adopted her and signed the permit. Geraldine was born August 31, 1907 in Kaukauna, one month after her father Charles Nelson died. Her mother, Elizabeth Gertz Nelson, later married Anton Casey Jansen of Little Chute. He had a daughter, Alice Christine, who was the same age as Geraldine. Alice is the great granddaughter of Arnold Verstegen, one of the first settlers of the village.In 1918, Geraldine's mother and Casey had a daughter and named her Mary Elizabeth. Geraldine's mother died in 1921 and left her with a stepfather, stepsister and a halfsister. Henry and Geraldine lived in Kaukauna for a while and they operated the saloon across the canal from the Thilmany Mill for a few years. Donald, Dorothy, David and Dolores were born in Kaukauna. Dolores was born in 1929, the beginning of the depression. Henry's check from the mill, at the end of the week, was less than $3.00. Henry moved his family to his stepparents home on Wilson Street in Little Chute. Dewain, John, Alice and Gerald were born there. In the spring of 1937, Henry convinced the owner of the farm, Honnaka (Anna) Derks, to trade the farm for his home on Wilson Street, plus cash. Henry didn't know much about farming and he had to keep his job in the mill, so he made an agreement with Fred VanHandel to work the farm on halves for a few years. The farm consisted of a barn, machine shed, pump house, horse barn, pig pen, chicken coop, and out house and a work shed, which stood behind the house and was filled with many hand tools, wooden buckets and bottles of every sort. The large two stories red brick house was built by John Derks in 1898. There is a date plate at the peak of the house on the Buchanon Street side. Cherry trees lined the yard on the east side, ten large Maples in the front, on the south, and a large driveway on the west. We use this space for playing ball. The house is built in a from of a cross and had two white wrap around porches and a large porch off the kitchen, with six rooms on the first floor and five rooms on the secons floor. Ten foot ceilings and hardwood floors were a big feature of the house. The largest room was the center room, with an outside entrance on the west. This room was our family and dining room. Many thresher meals were served in this dining room. Harvest time was a great time to socialize. The women in the neighborhood cooked and the men helped with the threshing. Thomas born in 1938, was the only one of eleven children born in the farmhouse. The year 1944 was an eventful one for the family. My oldest brother Don, joined the Marines in March and was in the invasion of Okinawa, in the fall. My oldest sister, Dorothy married Harold Bissing and had their wedding on the farm. In December of that year, my youngest sister, Mary was born. The only one of eleven children to be born in a hospital. My father sold the 80 acre farm to John Diedrick in 1950. He was still in debt, but the farm had served him well. Having been orphaned at a young age, he and Geraldine were able to feed, clothed, and give their children a Catholic education both grade and high school. They loved children and have 49 grandchildren and 82 greatgrand children. They both died in 1994. The farm had an outdoor theater on it for some time, and now is owned by the village of Little Chute were the Municipal Garage is, and the land is being developed for an industrial park. The house has been turned into three appartments.

Woods, Marie P. Age 96, of Appleton, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 with her family by her side. Marie was born August 25, 1918 in Kaukauna, WI to the late John and Katherine (Weyenberg) Stoop. She married Earl Woods on November 4, 1944, and they lived their married life in Greenville, WI. Marie worked at Prange-Way for 25 years; she loved to go dancing with some of the many friends she met there. Marie was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Greenville and the Jolly Workers Homemakers Club for most of her adult life. She always had a big garden, was a talented seamstress and enjoyed flower arranging. Marie had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

Peter J. Stoop, 86, Appleton, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at Rennes Health Care, with his loving wife Verdell at his side. Pete was born on May 19, 1924, in Appleton, to the late John and Katherine Stoop and was raised on the family farm. He married Verdell Zuhse on June 2, 1951, in Clintonville. Pete was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a longtime and faithful member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. Pete was employed for over 25 years at Fox Tractor Company in the Machine Shop and Tool Room. He then worked for Perfect Patterns for 9 years in the Tool Department, retiring in 1988. Both he and Verdell retired on the same day.

Benedict S. "Ben" Dercks passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday morning, July 24, 2007, at the age of 85 years. He was born in Little Chute on January 19, 1922, son of the late John and Hattie (Weyenberg) Dercks. Ben served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. On September 22, 1945, he married Mildred Vanden Boogard. She preceded him in death on November 5, 1948. On June 27, 1950, he married Claire Kiffe and she preceded him in death on June 17, 2006. Ben was an independent milk hauler for Morning Glory Dairy and retired in 1987. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 953, VFW Kaukauna Electric City Post 3319 and a lifelong member of Holy Cross Parish.

The funeral liturgy for Ben will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 27, 2007, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna, with Fr. David Funk, OFM, Cap officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at which time the cortege will leave for the church. There will be a rosary prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in his name.

Mary Diedrick, 89,Appleton, died surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Mary was born in the Town of Vandenbroeck, on June 10, 1921, to the late George and Hattie (Verhagen) Weyenberg. On Aug. 21, 1940, she was united in marriage to Woodrow Diedrick. Woodrow preceded her in death in 1964.
Mary worked at Kons Fruit Packing in Appleton for many years. She was a longtime member at St. Mary Catholic Church, Appleton. Mary loved watching sports on television, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her sons and daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, James (Darlene) Diedrick, Appleton; and Mark (Kim) Diedrick, Combined Locks; daughter, Nancy (Tom) Wheeler-Baehnman, Appleton; 12 grandchildren, Cliff, Casey, Jamie, Tim, Tom, Travis, Troy and Andy Diedrick, Gregory and Christopher Wheeler and Jolynn Diedrick and Amber (Justin) Heiting; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sister Catherine Weyenberg, Milwaukee; and Irene (Owen) Hietpas, Leesburg, Fla.; two daughters-in-law, Duanna Diedrick and Cindy Diedrick, both of Appleton; and two sisters-in-law, Elaine Weyenberg and Shirley Weyenberg, both of Kaukauna. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service for Mary will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 16, at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 2 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Appleton.

Sister Catherine Ann Weyenberg Brookfield - 1923 - 2018 a Wheaton Franciscan Sister
Sister Catherine Ann Weyenberg, passed into the fullness of God on January 12, 2018. She was born in Little Chute, Wisconsin February 12, 1923. She became a member of the Wheaton Franciscans on September 2,1942 and professed her final vows on May 19, 1948. She is preceded in death by her parents Hattie (Verhagen) and George G. Weyenberg, her brothers and sisters, Lester, Clarence, Betty, Julia and Mary. She is survived by her sister, Irene Hietpas.
Sister Catherine entered the Franciscan Sisters, Daughters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in St. Louis Missouri in 1942. After formation, she professed temporary vows as a sister in 1945 and final vows in 1948. After fulfilling this first longing of her heart, she began preparing herself for a nursing ministry at Marquette University for a BS in Nursing. There she received a scholarship for a MS in Nursing Administration at the University of Washington, Seattle, Washington.
Through all the different ministry assignments in nursing and hospital administration, and all the changes throughout the years, Sr. Catherine firmly believed that a nurse's commitment to the patient never changes. She was very dedicated to the patients and the associates with whom she worked with at St. Joseph's Hospital in Milwaukee, WI; St. Francis Hospital in Waterloo, IA; St. Michael's Hospital in Milwaukee, WI; St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO; and St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Appleton, WI.
Her final years were spent at Franciscan Woods, Brookfield, Wisconsin. There she passed into the fullness of God on January 12, 2018. She will be remembered in our hearts as our faithful and dedicated sister, who lived and served others in and from the depth of her prayer, the excellence of her service, and her presence of love.

Van Handel Miller Kessler, Ruth Mary
Ruth Kessler, age 93, died on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at the Valley VNA Assisted Living in Neenah with her niece, Beth Seebert, by her side.
Ruth was born on September 26, 1920 to Frank and Gertrude (Schmidt) Van Handel in Appleton, WI. She lived in the historic Third Ward for much of her life, and took care of her mother until Gertrude's death.
Ruth was employed at Kimberly-Clark from 1942 until her retirement in 1977. She held executive secretarial positions, including one for John R. Kimberly.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, C. Jarvis Miller and Arthur J. Kessler.
Ruth's four siblings also preceded her in death: Catherine Witmer, Ralph Van Handel, Dorothy Spencer and Joan Sommerville. She is survived by her first cousin, Mickey Milbach, her sister-in-law, Alice Van Handel, and her brother-in-law, Frank (Spence) Spencer.
Ruth loved photography and carried a camera on her many adventures. She chronicled the family history with still photographs and home movies. Ruth was quite athletic and played softball, rode bicycles and loved to golf. She stopped playing golf when she was 80.
Aunt Ruth dearly loved her 19 nieces and nephews. The feeling was mutual. She provided all of us with precious memories of special events with her ever-present camera. We cherished the trips to the Milwaukee zoo, the Baraboo circus museum, Milwaukee Braves baseball games, Crystal River canoe trips and swimming at Two Rivers. When the relatives made their arduous cross-country drives for family reunions at Grandma's house, Ruth would show home movies and demonstrate why Wisconsin cookouts are the best.
Ruth's sense of adventure influenced all of the cousins. We learned from her the proper way to mature gracefully, while still having laughter and a hint of mischief in our everyday lives. The Witmer neighborhood children used to call her Aunt Ruth (and some of those long-grown children still do), as if they wished that she was their aunt too.
Aunt Ruth was a second Mom to the seven Witmer children in Appleton: Beth (John) Seebert, Mary (Don, deceased) Hook, John Witmer, Joan (Dan) Kessel, Joe (Mary) Witmer, Ruth (Steve) Warner and Steve (Ann) Witmer. The Van Handels, Bill (Becky) Van Handel, Karen (Tom) Naminski, and Mary Jo (Terry) Craig, grew up in Indiana. The Spencers, Jim (Jean) Spencer, Bishop F. Richard Spencer, Bill (Elaine) Spencer, Fr. Robert Spencer and Peg (Joe) Fetyko grew up in Alabama. The Sommerville girls, Carla (John) Satterwhite, Donna Roberts, Nancy (Dan) Armstrong, and Gail (Dave) Conklin, grew up in California. Ruth is further survived by the children and grandchildren of her nieces and nephews.
Ruth resided at the VNA since 2002. She loved living there and was unfailingly cheerful to her fellow residents and the staff. She always said how lucky she was to live in such a wonderful place. Ruth loved to walk through the VNA courts and greeted residents and staff with a smile and, quite frequently, a compliment. We send heartfelt thanks to the staff for the loving care they extended throughout the years and especially the last two weeks of her life. We thank ThedaCare Hospice for their compassionate care which eased Ruth's final journey.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 4, at St. Joseph Church, 404 W. Lawrence Street, Appleton, with Rev. Jim Leary, OFM Cap officiating and Rev. Robert A. Spencer, U.S. Navy Chaplain, concelebrating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the church on Friday until the time of the mass. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton.

Joan M. Sommerville age 82, died June 21, 2009. Joan was born October 23, 1926, in Appleton, Wisconsin, to the late Frank and Gertrude (Schmidt) Van Handel. Joan was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She loved her family, the church and her country. She worked 30 years for the Veterans Hospital as a registered nurse before retiring to travel with her late husband where they made lifelong friends throughout the country.
Surviving relatives include sister, Ruth Kessler; daughters: Carla Satterwhite, Donna Roberts, Nancy Armstrong, Gail Conklin, Sandy Ebersole, our dear family friend adopted as a daughter into Joan's heart, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Cahoe, Catherine M., formerly of GreenvilleAge 96, joined her Lord and Saviour on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2003, at R ennes Health Center. Catherine was born on April 4, 1907, in Little Chut e, to the late John and Anna (Jansen) Siebers. She married Thomas L. Cah oe on August 11, 1930; after 60 years of marriage he preceded her in dea th on December 6, 1990. Catherine was a Past Worthy High Priestess of t he White Shrine; loved to travel, bake and fish; and for many years was t he crossing guard on Memorial Drive. Survivors include her daughters, Nan cy (Franklin) Potter, Kaukauna, and Jeanne Stielow, Neenah; her daughter-i n-law, Josephine (John) Thiel, Black Creek; her son-in-law, Myron Gardo w, Overland Park, Kansas; her sister-in-law, Loretta Siebers, Appleton; h er grandchildren, Thomas (Alison) Potter, Diana (Bob) Schuh, Catherine Cla uson, Richard (Jill) Potter, Stacey Paul, Scott (Jennifer) Stielow, Pen ny (Tony) Williams, Cheri Cahoe, Bonnie (Paul) Knaack, Connie (David) Kedr owicz, Becky (Beaver) Huss, Leslie Hayes and Alison Cochran; her 21 gre at grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in dea th by her son, Robert Cahoe; her daughter, Shirley Gadow; her son-in-la w, Peter H. Stielow; her great grandson Jason Cahoe; and her sisters, Jose phine Freier, Kaukauna, and Nellie McCormick; and her brothers, Hank, Mart y, William, Louis Siebers. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Apr il 23, 2003, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, Appleton, with Rev. Lynn Kollath of ficiating. Anna "June" Van Driel, 86, of Combined Locks, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 20, 2016.
June was born on January 18, 1930 to the late Henry and Margaret (LeClair) Siebers. She married her true soulmate Sylvester P "Van" Van Driel at St. Paul's Church in Combined Locks. Van passed away way too soon on October 16, 1981. June and Van were foster parents for many years and cared for 216 foster children throughout the years. She enjoyed shopping at Walmart, knitting, and going out to lunch.
June is survived by her loving daughter Gail (Dave) Wisniewski, her loving son Ric (Cindy Mickler) Van Driel, four grandsons; Ben (special friend Megan) Van Driel, Ryan (special friend Shannon) Van Driel, Rick (Nicole) Van Driel, and Paul (Allison) Van Driel, step grandchildren; Amy (Dave)Kress, and DJ (Micheala) Hungerford, seven great grandchildren; Grace, Carson, Kyleigh, Jaxson, Chloe, Solomon, and Roman, and a step great grandson Miles. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Jeanette Siebers and brother-in-law Roger Fens, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
June was preceded in death by her husband Van, her son Randy, sisters; Magdalene Van De Hey, Virginia Rogers, Diane Fens, brothers; Glen, James and Thomas Siebers, sister-in-law, Barbara Siebers and brothers-in-law; Rueben Van De Hey, and Sherman Rogers.
The funeral liturgy for June will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 11:00 AM at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 Wallace St., Combined Locks. A time of visitation will be held on Sunday April 24, 2016 at JANSEN FARGO FUNERAL HOME, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. Siebers, ThomasThomas Siebers, 65, Combined Locks, died unexpectedly on Friday April 9, 2 004 at home of a heart attack. He was born Sept. 29, 1938, to the late Hen ry and Margaret (LeClair) Siebers in Combined Locks. Tom was a lifelong re sident of Combined Locks and a lifetime member of St. Paul’s parish. He se rved in the U.S. Army in the early 1960’s until his honorable discharge. T om was employed at Clyde’s Service Station, Marv’s Beer Depot, Bowbly’s Ca ndy, Village of Combined Locks, Riverside Paper and retired in 1999 from W arehouse Specialists. He recently drove for Bergstrom and volunteered at S t. Joe’s Food Pantry. Tom enjoyed building grandfather clocks and doing cl ock repairs, he also was a regular blood donor. Tom was a loving caring so n, brother, uncle, friend and neighbor.He is survived by four sisters, Magdalene (Rueben) Van De Hey, Kaukauna; V irginia Rogers, Lakeworth, Fla.; June Van Driel, Combined Locks; Diane (Ro ger) Fens, Neenah; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara Siebers and Jeanette Si ebers. She was born in Little Ch ute on July 24, 1922, daughter of George and Marie (Dercks) Weyenberg. S he graduated from St. John High School in 1940. On August 31, 1946, Jane m arried the love of her life, Ervin Van Dyke at St. John Nepomucene Cathol ic Church, where she was a lifetime member. Jane was a loving wife, cari ng mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed by everyone w ho knew her. She enjoyed golf, bridge, reading and cross-stitch. Jane w as a legal secretary for G.H. Van Hoof, Little Chute attorney. During Wor ld War II, when Gerry went into the service, she worked for Judge Jol in at the Outagamie Courthouse in Appleton. When Gerry returned from servi ce, Jane went back to his law firm until her children were born. She retur ned to the legal profession for a brief time, working for the District Att orney in Outagamie County. When her children were older, she worked for t he Village of Little Chute as Deputy Clerk. She retired from this positi on in 1985.She is a 58-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #436, Wright stown, where she served as president of the unit in 1949 and 1950. He graduated fr om St. John High School, Little Chute. Mark married Rosemary Wiegand, Augu st 31, 1946, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. Mark w as a United States Marine serving in the Pacific during WWII. Mark was a 6 0-year member of the Jacob Coppus Post #258 of Little Chute.He worked f or 38 years at Hewitt Transmission Company retiring in 1987.The most important part of our Dad's life was his 58-year love affair wi th our Mom and raising, caring for and cherishing the five of us. Wh en we think of our Dad, as we were growing up, we think of his streng th as our provider and protector. As we grew into maturity he continu ed to provide for and protect our Mom who had Alzheimer's disease. He w as truly an inspiration to all of us. Clarence C. "Cunny" Dercks, a lifelong resident of Little Chute, age 84, was peacefully received into the arms of Jesus on Monday May 23, 2011, at Theda Clark Medical Center with his family at his side.
He was born in Little Chute on November 14, 1926, to the late Peter and Ann (Weyenberg) Dercks. He was a 1944 graduate of St. John's High School. Cunny proudly served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was a 65-year member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258, was a loyal member of the Firing Squad since his retirement and has been the Commander of the squad for the past several years. He took great pride in his role as Commander and touched countless families with compassion in their time of loss. It was his passion to serve his fellow Veterans. He was thrilled to participate in the first Old Glory Honor Flight to Washington D.C. out of the Fox Valley on October 27, 2009, to visit the World War II Memorial. Clarence married the love of his life, Betty Van Roy on October 4, 1952. She preceded him in death May 17, 2005. While working at his job at Kimberly Clark, he also served as Machinist Union President for many years. In addition, he started his own business, Dercks Radio and TV out of his home. After his retirement in 1986 from Kim-tech, he and his wife became snowbirds, wintering with family and friends in Orange Beach, AL. Cunny loved time spent outdoors, including time spent with his family at his cottage on Arbutus Lake.
Clarence is survived by his children: Lilly Warnke, Little Chute; Pete (Karen), Pickerel; Jim (Pat) Appleton; Nancy (Mike) Wydeven, Kaukauna; Barb (Dan) School, Darboy; and Don (Heidi), Vandenbroek; grandchildren: Scott (Kim) and Adam Warnke, Chris (Amber), Andy (Heidi), Matt (Jenni), Ben (fiancee Erin), Beth, Jimmy, Jessi, Holly and Jeremy Dercks;, Michael, Kevin and Elise De Bruin, Amanda Wydeven, Lance School, Lindsey (Craig) Romenesko, great-granddaughters: Alexandria, Makayla, Faith and Emma, and was looking forward to the arrival of his first great-grandson in July; brother and sister: Mark (Bernice) and Betty (James) Peerenboom; and sisters and brother-in-law: Rita Dercks, Harold Vandenberg and Rita Van Roy. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mark J. Dercks, Little Chute, age 86, died Monday. Visitation Friday at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 3:00 p.m. until time of Mass at 5:00 p.m. A full obituary will follow.

Mark J. "Gus" Dercks, Appleton, age 86, died peacefully Monday August 10, 2015 at Rennes Health and Rehab Center in Appleton. He was born in Little Chute on November 10, 1928 to the late Peter and Anna (Weyenberg) Dercks. Gus married Bernice Hopfensperger at Holy Cross Parish in Kaukauna on September 7, 1948. Gus was a lifelong and active member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Little Chute, where he was an usher and mass server. He was also a member and past president of the St. John Athletic Association. For work, Gus took great pride in managing the Auto Center at Sears and retired after 37 years of service.
In addition to being a man of strong faith and work ethic, Gus loved people. He truly appreciated spending time with family and friends as well as meeting new people. He enjoyed bowling, fishing (and teaching his grandchildren to fish), playing Sheepshead and visiting the family cottage on Shawano Lake. No matter where he was or who he was with, Gus was always willing to talk or watch his sports! Gus was an avid fan of the Packers, Brewers, Bucks and Badgers - even telling nurses during his final days how he was at the Ice Bowl. We know heaven he'll be cheering "Go Pack Go." Gus was a man of many great stories, each one a memory his family will treasure.
Finally, Gus expressed an unconditional love for his wife of 66 years, Bernice. His respect, commitment and compassion for her was unwavering and a positive model to his children and many others.
As mentioned, Gus is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bernice; children: Linda (Don) Eckes of Appleton; Carla (Harvey) Luebben of Appleton; and Rick (Pam) Dercks of Fon Du Lac; grandchildren: Tammy (Brad) Sowinski, Stacy (Cory) Borys, Tim (Amy) Eckes, Melissa (Steve) Barry, Heather (Brian) Swearingen, Heidi (Larry) Derusha and Kevin (Melissa Tran) Luebben; great grandchildren: Andrew and Brooke Sowinski; Grace, Caden and Austin Borys; Owen and Aiden Eckes; Breah and Ivy Barry; Lexi Luebben; Ethen Steinway; and Andrea Smet; sister: Betty (Jim) Peerenboom; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Rita Dercks, Audrey Long, Gary (Barb), Dave (Mary) and May Hopfensperger. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Henry A. Van Dera, age 87, of Kaukauna, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2009, at Stanford Hospital, California with his family at his side. Henry was born July 2, 1921, and grew up in Hollandtown. He is the son of the late William and Mary (Weyenberg) Van Dera. After serving in the US Army in World War II, he married Blanche Van Den Heuvel on June 7, 1945. They made their home in Kimberly. In 1954, they moved to the farm where his wife had grown up and farmed until 1970. Henry also worked in the paper mill where he retired in July 1978 after 35 years. For retirement Henry and his wife moved to Kaukauna for the summer months and enjoyed the winter months in California. Henry was a member of St. Aloysius Parish. He was also a member of the American Legion for 65 years, and the Knights of Columbus for 66 years. His favorite retirement pastime was playing sheepshead.

Theodore J. "The Cat" "Ted" Van Dera, formally of St. John, 84, died peacefully at Parkside Care Center, Little Chute, with his wife and daughter at his side, on Dec. 24, 2006, following a lengthy illness of Parkinson and Alzheimer's. He was born Sept. 21, 1922, in Outagamie County, son of the late William and Mary (Weyenberg) Van Dera. On May 2, 1944, he married Jean Vandenberg at St. Peter and Paul Church in Wrightstown. Ted worked for Oscar Bolt Construction for many years. He retired from Lunda Construction after many years of building bridges throughout Wisc. and Minn. Ted was a member of the Wisc. Carpenters and Laborer's Unions. He and his wife Jean also owned and operated Ted and Jean's Bar in St. John, for 34 years. Ted enjoyed the northwoods as well as crafting wood and working with his hands. The couple moved to the northwoods on Boundary Lake after Ted's retirement and returned to Kaukauna in 1999.
Ted will be deeply missed by his wife, Jean of 62 years; a daughter, Pamela Van Dera, New Holstein; a son, Ted Jr. (Jean) Van Dera; three grandchildren, Jason, Justin, and Amanda; a great-grandson on the way; a sister, Loretta Nackers, Kaukauna; brothers, Henry (Blanche) Van Dera, Kaukauna; Peter Van Dera, Appleton; sister-in-law, June van Dera, Appleton. He is further survived by his wife's family, Zita Huisman, Kimberly; Isabella (Gilbert) Vosters, Pearl (Roy) Pleshek, all of Kaukauna; Joan Schultz, Shakopee, Minn.; Jim Hoffman, DePere; and many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Peter Van Dera, age 89, of Freedom, passed away at the Jack and Engrid Meng Unity Hospice in De Pere on Sunday, May 26, 2013 with his family by his side. He was born on May 10, 1924 in the Town of Vandenbroek, the son of the late William and Mary (Weyenberg) Van Dera. Peter served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. On November 25, 1948, Peter married Elaine Hietpas at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute. She preceded him in death on April 15, 1976. He worked over 40 years at the Kimberly Mill, retiring in 1989. Peter was a Charter member of the Fox River Beagle Club, and loved square dancing, and polkas. He proudly attended the Stars and Stripes Veterans Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in July of 2012. Many knew him as a very outgoing man, who always had a good joke to share that made everyone laugh. He always said, "If you don't make your own fun, you're not going to have any."

Norbert I. De Coster of Little Chute, now with the fifth Army in Italy, recently was promoted from corporal to Sergeant. De Coster is a clerk typist at Headquarters Company. His mother Mrs. Anna De Coster lives on Depot Street in Little Chute.

Obituary:
Norbert "Norb" De Coster, Little Chute, age 89, entered into Eternal Life on Saturday, March 15, 2014. Norb was born on December 24, 1924, son of Leonard and Anna (Hietpas) De Coster. He grew up in Little Chute, the second of nine children. Norb attended St. John Grade School and High School until he was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in Italy and earned the rank of Sergeant, and was awarded 4 Battle Stars and 1 Bronze Star. Norb was discharged on November 1, 1945 and was a member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258. He was a proud to have travelled to Washington D.C. last year as a participant in the Old Glory Honor Flight program.
After his military career, he became a plumber and joined the Plumber's Local 400. He retired at the age of 62.
On April 12, 1947 Norb proudly married Ruth Vanden Heuvel at St. John Nepomucene. Together they raised two children, Linda and Jim. Ruth and Norb would have been married 67 years on April 12, 2014.
Norb is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Ruth; children: Linda Meulemans, Wrightstown; and Jim (Linda) De Coster, Black Creek; grandchildren: Jason, Jody (Sara), Jeremy (Kacy), Joel (Stephanie) and Jill Meulemans, Janelle (Nathan) Sprangers, Angie (Rick) Steffens, Matt (Kate) and Michael De Coster; great grandchildren: Chole, Grant, Ella and Saylor Meulemans, Skyler, Jordan and Paityn Meulemans, Landon Sprangers, Ava Meulemans, Connor and Caden Steffens; siblings: Marie Sievers, Evelyn Carlson and Leo De Coster; sisters/ brothers-in-law: Ann, Anna Mae and Peggy De Coster, Bob Vande Loo, Jane Christensen and Virginia Stuyvenberg. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Norb was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Anna; Ruth's parents, George and Catherine Vanden Heuvel; his son-in-law, Pete Meulemans; siblings: Lorraine (Francis) Demerath, Della Vande Loo, Lawrence, Mark and Jerome De Coster; sisters/brothers-in-law: Muriel and Bev De Coster, Betty (John) Van Beek, Willard Carlson, John Christensen, Gene Welhouse, Don Stuyvenberg and Robert Sievers.
Visitation will be held Wednesday March 19, 2014 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 Pine St. Little Chute) from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Ronald Belitz will officiate. Military rites conducted by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 will immediately follow. Committal St. John Cemetery.
