Fred A. Towsley, 69 years of age, pioneer resident of this city and a banker well known throughout the state as cashier of the Bank of Kaukauna since its incorporation in 1883 and for two years prior to that time when operated as a private bank by the Reuter Bros. has died suddenly Monday evening during a meeting at the local bank.

Obituary:
Funeral services for Charles Towsley, 83, of 1510A Clark St., Manitowoc, who died Friday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where he had been a patient two weeks, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Krist Caune will officiate and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton.
Mr. Towsley was born April 4, 1885, at Kaukauna, son of the late Frederick and Ella Tweller Towsley. He was a 1904 graduate of Kaukauna high school and worked as a bank clerk at Kaukauna from 1904 until 1940, then moved to Manitowoc and began operation of a grocery store on N. Ninth Street. During World War II he worked at Manitowoc Ship building Inc., and in 1948 resumed the grocery store business at 18th Street and New York Avenue which he continued until retirement in 1958. He married the former Caroline Jaheriss June 6, 1911.
Mr. Towsley was a member of the St. Paul Methodist church and the Knights of Pythias, Lodge 82, of which he was secretary and a 50-year member of the Kaukauna Masonic Lodge No. 233.
Survivors include the wife; a son, Karl, of Appleton; a daughter, Jane, at home; a sister, Mrs. Fred W. Barnstein, of Manitowoc and three grandchildren. A sister and a brother preceded him in death.
