Frank Schwobe, 31, died in St. Agnes hospital, Fond du Lac, Tuesday of injuries suffered when his car crashed into a stone fence on the Kloten road west of this city Monday afternoon.
Mr. Schwobe had come to this city from his home in Kloten Monday to buy a horse collar, a had started for home about noon. At the Joseph Kampfer farm about two miles west of this city, his car left the gravel road, crashing into a barb-wire and stone fence and turned over in a field of the Joseph Kampfer farm. Schwobe was alone in the car and no one saw the accident. It is believed that the brakes on the car may have become locked.
John Koller, who was driving along the road, was th first to reach the scene of the accident, and a few moments later Mr. Kampfer arrived. They reported that Schwobe's body was lying about 25 feet from the car. The sheriff was notified and the Pfeffer Funeral home ambulance was called and Mr. Schwobe was rushed in an unconscious condition to St. Agnes hospital.
An examination revealed that his skull had been fractured, that his nose had been badly crushed and he was suffering severe hemorrhages. He did not regain consciousness.
Mr. Schwobe was born March 20, 1906 on a farm in Kloten, Town of Stockbridge, son of Mrs. Mary Schwobe and the late Henry Schwobe. He spent his entire life on the farm, receiving his education in the public and parochial schools at Kloten.
Survivors are his mother, four brothers, Glenroy, Henry and Joseph Schwobe of the town of Stockbridge and Anton Schwobe of the Town of Chilton; four sisters, Mrs. Frank Thielman, town of Stockbridge; Mrs. Albert Propson, Marytown; and Mrs. Otto Veit, Chilton Town; and his fiancée, Miss Louise Rachke, Brillion.
Coroner J. J. Minahan viewed the scene of the tragedy but decided that no inquest was necessary.
The funeral will be held at St. Elizabeth church, Kloten, Friday. Rev. H. E. Hunck will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.

Marcella F. Selk, 90, Chilton, died on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at Century Ridge in Chilton. She was born Feb. 5, 1920, in Chilton, daughter of the late Otto and Helen (Schwobe) Veit of Chilton.
Marcella farmed with her husband in the Chilton area and later worked at the Calumet Medical Center in the housekeeping department. She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and volunteered many hours in the school lunch program. Marcella was also a member of the Good Shepherd Christian Women, the Chilton Eagles Club and the Senior Citizens Club where, for 28 years, she was in charge of sending "Get Well" cards to its members.
She enjoyed spending time perfecting her counted cross-stitching and made many beautiful works of art. Marcella loved playing games because it gave her an opportunity to spend time with any number of people of any age. The youngest child, or the young of heart, cherished listening to her contagious laugh while playing Pictionary, Sheepshead and Uno.
Marcella was one of the kindest, gentlest people a person could meet. No one was a stranger to her and her strong, resilient attitude lifted everyone's spirits. Her family loved the gift of her presence in their lives as well. Whether it was one of her delicious home-cooked meals or an opportunity to travel with her children, she always made sure that she treasured each and every moment with each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol (Steve) Clark, Neenah; three sons, Ervin E. (Carol) Selk, Chilton; Thomas (Bernita) Selk, Green Bay; Paul (Ann) Selk, Green Bay; her grandchildren, Nathan (Annie) Selk, Nicholas (Alison) Selk, Meredith (Darren) Johnson, Allison Selk, Maria Selk and Rachel Selk; her great-grandchildren, Ellanor Selk and Harrison Selk; a sister, Adeline Hoerth; and her in-laws, Greg and Irene Halfmann, Shirley Selk and Leander and Dorothy Selk. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin, and her parents.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton. Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, and on Tuesday at the church from 10 to 11:15 a.m.
