    Virginia "Ginny" Flanigan, 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, January 9, 2011, at Living Tree Estates. Ginny was born in Menasha on March 4, 1923, to the late Bernard and Mary (Spilske) Konetzke. She grew up on Racine Street and graduated from Menasha High School with the class of 1941. Soon thereafter, she met the love of her life, Donald P. Flanigan, of Appleton, and they were married on July 3, 1943. Ginny devoted her life to Don until his passing on May 2, 2008, after 65 years together. When first married, Ginny traveled with Don while he served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Throughout their life, Ginny and Don enjoyed many outdoor activities together, including hunting, golf, boating and snowmobiling. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at their cottage on Washington Lake where she and Don retired. They also spent a few years of their retirement as snowbirds at their home in New Port Richey, Florida. Ginny was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She was a very giving person, always considerate of others.
    While raising their two children, she also worked as a full-time Corporate Secretary for George Banta Company in Menasha, retiring after more than 30 years of employment.
    Ginny will be greatly missed by her children: Lori (Mark) Poehls, Appleton, David (Jackie) Flanigan, Black Creek; eight grandsons: Brian Poehls, Karl (Carrie) Poehls, Taylor (Lydia) Poehls, Justus (Laura) Poehls, Beau Poehls, Darek Flanigan, Cody Flanigan, Devin Flanigan; five great-grandsons: Tristan, Aidan, Jude, Talson and Henry Poehls. She is further survived by her brothers: Bernie (Jeanie) Konetzke, Jim (Carol) Konetzke, Ken (Paula) Konetzke; sisters: Marian Smits, Rose (Gene) Schramm; sisters-in-law: Mary Bergner, Sr. Mary Patrick Flanigan, Nancy (Roger) Miller, Judy Flanigan, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
    Ginny was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Casey and Margaret Konetzke; brothers-in-law, Glenn Flanigan, Jim Flanigan, Wayne Mears and Dale Bergner; sisters-in-law, Dorothy "Pete" Mears and Kathleen Weiland.
    Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at Martens-Laemmrich Funeral Home, 321 Milwaukee St. from 4 pm until 7 pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday at St. Bernard Catholic Parish, 1617 W. Pine St. from 10 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating. Inurnment will take place at St. John Cemetery, Town of Menasha.
    Ginny's family would like to thank the entire staff at Living Tree Estates for the love and compassionate care they gave Mom. Also, to Southern Care Hospice for the help they provided.

    Menasha - Marian M. Maas-Smits, Menasha, on July 18, 2018, three days shy of her 92nd birthday, went to our heavenly Father on a beautiful sunny day. She was born July 21, 1926 daughter of the late Bernard and Mary (Spilski) Konetzke. She married Harold F. "Tartar" Maas on September 30, 1950. They had almost 21 years together, raising two daughters. He preceded her in death in 1971.
    Marian had worked 17 years in the office for George Banta Co., until her retirement in 1983. In 1984, she married James V. Smits. They enjoyed four years of marriage before his death in 1988.
    During her lifetime, Marian experienced many travels with family and friends, including trips to European countries. She had a talent for sewing and upholstering. She enjoyed golfing and playing cards. For fifty years she was a member of the Ladies Elks Club of Menasha. Marian endured many challenges during her life, but she always remained a strong-willed individual.
    Survived by daughters: Patricia (Thomas) Jansen and Connie (Timothy) Greunke; grandchildren: Nicole (Bryan) Hoerning, Connor Jansen, Kayla (fiancé Mike Lefler) Greunke and Jake Greunke; great grandchildren: Austin and Addison Hoerning; stepchildren: Susan (William) Dwyer, Steve (Rebecca) Smits; step grandchildren: Kevin and Timothy Dwyer, Emily Smits. She is further survived by her sister, Rosalie Schramm; brother, Kenneth (Paula) Konetzke; sisters-in-law: Carol Konetzke and Jean Konetzke.
    She was preceded in death by her husbands: Harold Maas and James Smits; sister, Virginia (Donald) Flanigan; brothers: Norbert (Margaret) Konetzke, James Konetzke and Bernard Konetzke; brother-in-law, Gene Schramm.
    The memorial mass for Marian will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at St. Bernard Catholic Church (1617 W. Pine St., Appleton) with Fr. Amal Roche officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Marian's name.
    You're a special kind of mother, grandmother, great grandmother, who has filled so many days with love, warmth, care, kindness and your thoughtful ways. We love you and we will miss you dearly.

    Menasha - Bernard S. "Bernie" Konetzke, age 81, of Menasha, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born June 26, 1936 in Menasha, son of the late Ben and Mary (Spilski) Konetzke.
    Bernie married Jean Jacquot on June 14, 1958. He served his Community as a police officer until retiring as a Detective after 32 years of service. Bernie enjoyed playing baseball and basketball in his younger years. He was quite a bowler and especially enjoyed a good round of golf with his buddies. Bernie also enjoyed hunting, fishing and a good Polish Dinner.
    Survivors include his wife, Jean; two children, Jeff Konetzke, Luane (Tim) Jarosinski; two grandchildren: Dana Jarosinski, Troy Jarosinski; two sisters: Marian Maas Smits, Rosalie Schramm; a brother, Kenneth (Paula) Konetzke; three sisters-in-law: Carol Konetzke, Louise Jacquot, Deloris Jacquot; and nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
    Bernie was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia (Donald) Flanagan; and two brothers: Norbert (Margaret) Konetzke, James Konetzke; five brothers-in-law: Harold Mass, James Smits, Gene Schramm, Earl Jacquot, and Kenneth Jacquot.
    The Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 2, 2018, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 516 DePere St., Menasha, with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. The visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 Am until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
    The family would like to thank all the Dr's, nurses and caregivers for all the wonderful care given to Bernie these last years.
    Bernie had many "titles" through the years: Husband, father, grandfather, brother, Officer, and many more. But the greatest of these that we can all enjoy is the title of friend. He was everybody's great friend.
