Obituary:
John Strathearn, 78, a former Manitowoc resident, died Tuesday at Appleton Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Peter Haag will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Military graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion Drews Bleser Post No. 88. Mr. Strathearn was born July 11, 1893, at Kaukauna, son of the late John A. and Sophie Nelson Strathearn. He attended Kaukauna schools and was graduated with the Class of 1913. He also attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, taking an agricultural course. He married Hattie Glander July 4, 1925, at Manitowoc. The couple resided in Manitowoc. He was a World War I veteran serving as private with Co. B. 108th MPS in France from 1917 to 1919. He was a rural mail carrier for 30 years retiring in 1962. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Drews Bleser Post No. 88. Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Joan) Verkins of Appleton, a sister, Miss Janet Strathearn, of Manitowoc and two grandchildren. A sister and a brother preceded him in death. Friends may call at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 5 p.m. Thursday and at the church Friday from noon until the time of service.

Obituary:
Miss Janet N. Strathearn, 86, of 2005 Division St., Manitowoc, died Sunday morning, August 30.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Phipps Memorial Chapel, Manitowoc. The Rev. William Plank will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Miss Strathearn was born June 11, 1895, at Kaukauna, Wis., daughter of the late John and Sophia Nelson Strathearn. She attended Kaukauna Public Schools and Lawrence University, graduating in 1917. She taught high school English at Ripon, Wis., and Akron, Ohio, moving to Manitowoc in 1921. She taught English at Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, until her retirement in 1955??. Miss Strathearn was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and very active in Masquers Theater. She was a charter member of Manitowoc Chapter of American Association of University Women.
Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Earl (Jean) Verkins? of ppleson (sic). She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Friends may all at Phipps Memorial Chapel Tuesday from noon until the time of services. The casket will remain closed. A memorial has been established in her name. There will be no visitation at the funeral home this Monday evening. Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is in charge of arrangements.
