Notes: possibly related?WILLIAM SCHROEDER. It is a noticeable fact that the agriculturists of a ny section who have the best farms are those who take the most pride in t he prosperity of their community and the most active part in the upbuildi ng and development of the section in which they reside, and this is tr ue of the farmers of Outagamie county. One of these representative m en of Cicero township, who is always prominent in any movement that will l ikely be of benefit to his locality is William Schroeder, the owner of a f arm of 120 acres in section 24. He is a native of Germany, born Janua ry 4, 1846, in Pomerania., a son of John Schroeder, whose wife died when W illiam was only thirteen years of age, leaving four children.: August, Cha rles, Albert and William, Charles being deceased. John Schroeder was a bla cksmith by trade, and taught this occupation to his sons, William learni ng it with the others. In 1873, William Schroeder was married to Augusta R ush, born May 13, 1851, and during the same year canie to the United State s, the trip requiring sixteen days. Mr. Schroeder first settled in Winches ter, Winnebago county, Wisconsin, where he worked for one year, and then w ent to Seymour township and was engaged in farming for two years, after wh ich he located on his present property, a tract of eighty acres at that ti me on which there had been but a small clearing made, and two frame shac ks on the place, one a log cabin 14x16 feet, and the other a log stable, 2 0x28 feet. After clearing and cultivating this original purchase, Mr. Schr oeder purchased forty acres of land covered with pine stumps, and he now h as one of the finest farms of its size in Cicero township, having erect ed a large and handsome dwelling, a basement barn 40x80 feet, and other go od buildings. He carries on general farming, raises a general grade of liv estock, and is looked upon as one of the successful agriculturists of h is part of the township, his success having been due to long years of har d, unremitting labor. Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder have had four children, namel y: Albert, Ida, William and Frank. Frank married Sommerfeld, Natalie Bef 1912. Natalie was born 31 Mar 1892, , , , Poland; died 16 Jul 1973, Gillett, Oconto, Wisconsin, USA. [Group Sheet]
