possibly related?WILLIAM SCHROEDER. It is a noticeable fact that the agriculturists of a ny section who have the best farms are those who take the most pride in t he prosperity of their community and the most active part in the upbuildi ng and development of the section in which they reside, and this is tr ue of the farmers of Outagamie county. One of these representative m en of Cicero township, who is always prominent in any movement that will l ikely be of benefit to his locality is William Schroeder, the owner of a f arm of 120 acres in section 24. He is a native of Germany, born Janua ry 4, 1846, in Pomerania., a son of John Schroeder, whose wife died when W illiam was only thirteen years of age, leaving four children.: August, Cha rles, Albert and William, Charles being deceased. John Schroeder was a bla cksmith by trade, and taught this occupation to his sons, William learni ng it with the others. In 1873, William Schroeder was married to Augusta R ush, born May 13, 1851, and during the same year canie to the United State s, the trip requiring sixteen days. Mr. Schroeder first settled in Winches ter, Winnebago county, Wisconsin, where he worked for one year, and then w ent to Seymour township and was engaged in farming for two years, after wh ich he located on his present property, a tract of eighty acres at that ti me on which there had been but a small clearing made, and two frame shac ks on the place, one a log cabin 14x16 feet, and the other a log stable, 2 0x28 feet. After clearing and cultivating this original purchase, Mr. Schr oeder purchased forty acres of land covered with pine stumps, and he now h as one of the finest farms of its size in Cicero township, having erect ed a large and handsome dwelling, a basement barn 40x80 feet, and other go od buildings. He carries on general farming, raises a general grade of liv estock, and is looked upon as one of the successful agriculturists of h is part of the township, his success having been due to long years of har d, unremitting labor. Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder have had four children, namel y: Albert, Ida, William and Frank.

OR WILLIAM SCHROEDER, a successful and industrious farmer of Ellington townsh ip, owning one of the fine properties on Greenville Rural Route No. 1 6, a tract of 183 1-3 acres, was born October 18, 1871, in Germany, a s on of John F.' and Minnie (Voss) Schroeder.John F. Schroeder was born in Germany in 1840, and was there married to Mi nnie Voss, who was born in the Fatherland in 1851.They came to the United States in 1874, settling in Center township, whe re Mr. Schroeder bought a farm and they resided for eighteen years, then m oving to the farm now occupied by their son, William. They continued on the latter until Mr. Schroeder's retirement from acti ve pursuits, since which time they have been living in the city of Appleto n. The Center township land was developed from the wilderness, there havi ng been no improvements on the property when the family first located ther e, but with the assistance of his sons Mr. Schroeder made it into an excel lent, fertile farm. The five children of John F. and Minnie Schroeder we re as follows: Tilda, who married George Longlatz and died in 1895, leavi ng a son, Arnold; Emma, who died at the age of twenty-one years; and Willi am, Freda and August. William Schroeder was three years of age when the fa mily came to the United States, and he received his education in the distr ict schools of Center township, being reared on his father's farm, whi ch he helped to clear. At the age of thirty years Mr. Schroeder started o ut on his own account, first renting his present farm, and later operati ng land across the road in Greenville township, which he had bought previo usly. After two years he purchased his father's farm, and he now devotes 1 83 1-3 acres to general farming and dairy work, also raising well-bred cat tle. On October 21, 1898, Mr. Schroeder was married to Mary Moss, daught er of John and Minnie Moss, of Osborn township, who originally came from t he Fatherland. Five children have been born to this union: Harry, Victo r, Loretta, Carl and Viola. Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder are members of the Germ an Lutheran Church of Ellington. He is a member of the Path Finders. In a ll movements that are calculated to be of benefit to his community Mr. Sch roeder has taken a prominent part, and as a farmer and citizen is he ld in high esteem by his fellow townsmen.
