    Obituary:
    Clyde W. Weyenberg, 85, formerly of Freedom, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2009, at St. Paul's Home in Kaukauna. He was born in Freedom on April 25, 1924, to the late John and Jane (Hooyman) Weyenberg. He was a graduate of Freedom High School and married Ardene Plamann on July 18, 1942. In 1943, he joined the Army Air Corp to serve his country during World War II and spent most of his time in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska. He was released on Dec. 7, 1945.
    Clyde worked numerous jobs during his life. He operated a can milk route, operated the Freedom Bowling Alley and the VFW Bar for many years. Great times were had and many lifelong friends were developed at the bowling alley and the bar. The last part of his career was spent at Miller Electric where he retired after 27 years. Clyde was very active in activities and events in Freedom. To name a few, he managed fast and slow-pitch softball teams, was town assessor, was on the Board of Freedom High School, held many positions in the VFW Post 7692 and served the St. Nicholas Church community as a Fourth Degree Honor Guard, a lector and in the choir. He was a charter member of the Freedom Lions and also belonged to the Little Chute American Legion.
    Clyde is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ardene; two daughters, Sharon (Jim) Greiner and Diane (Ernie) Johnson; five grandchildren, Jeff (Stacey) Greiner, Jill (Dick) Vosters, Tina (Steve) Van Rossum, Greg (Megan) VandeWettering and Tami Skenandore; and 14 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Emily, Alivia, Sami Adam, Leah, Cody, Abby, Ben, Brad, Jenna, Megan, Jalyn and Devon. He is also survived by in-laws, Margie Weyenberg, Lee Spletter, Leola Lutz, Duke (Char) Plamann, Gene Stephani; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Ray, Merv, Gene, Orville, Martha Van Dyke, Irene Stephani and Dorothy Spletter; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, George and Hulda Plamann; and in-laws, Ev Weyenberg, Mrytle Weyenberg-VandeHey, Polly Weyenberg, Ted Van Dyke, Al Stephani, George Lutz, Shorty (Millie) Plamann, Melv (Virginia) Plamann, Sally (Bob) Schommer, Bernice (Bill) Techlin and Lois Stephani.
    Visitation will be held at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom, from 9 a.m. to Noon on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial with Fr. Dave Hoffman officiating. Immediately following Mass, there will be a military honors program. Private entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
    A memorial fund is being established.
    The family would like to extend special thanks to all of the staff at St. Paul's Home and St. Paul's Hospice Service for the exceptional care they gave to Dad.
