Evelyn E. Schneider, "Mrs. Kite", age 92, of Chilton, died on March 24, 2009. She was born on April 13, 1916, in Darboy, daughter of the late Anton and Mary (Juckem) Hartzheim. She married William A. Schneider on September 3, 1941, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton; he preceded her in death on February 19, 2000. Evelyn was a beautician, and had her own shop in Chicago, prior to meeting her husband Bill. After their marriage she and Bill moved to Chilton, where they operated a dairy farm until retiring in 1980, when they moved into the City of Chilton.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Chilton, and the Christian Mothers. Evelyn was a member of several card clubs, where she loved to play Sheepshead. She enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening, playing the slot machines, fishing, Kelly Lake, and vacations at Shawano.
Survivors include a daughter, Marian (Karl) Kaufman of Appleton; five sons: Robert (Alice) Schneider of Chilton; Ray (Veronica) Schneider of Mequon; James Schneider of Lake Havasu City, AZ; Peter (Cathy) Schneider of Forestville, CA; Philip (Bonnie) Schneider of Chilton; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, a son Steven, a grandchild, a brother Willard Hartzheim, a sister Sr. Mary Antoinette Hartzheim, and a sister-in-law Catherine Hartzheim.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday March 28, 2009, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (42 E. Main St.) in Chilton, with the Rev. Bob Kollath officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Chilton. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. A memorial fund has been established in the name of Evelyn Schneider.
