Joseph A. BuechlerJoseph A. Buechler, 81, of rural Belgium passed away in the early morni ng hours on Saturday May 24, 2003, at Columbia St. Mary's Ozaukee Camp us in Mequon.He was born at Six Corners, Nov. 30, 1921, son of the late Gottfried and L ucy Ott Buechler. On April 7, 1945, he married Leona Bares at Holy Cross C atholic Church. She preceded him in death in 1993.Joe was a milkman in Belgium for Wayside Dairy for many years. He was o ne of the original co-founders of the Belgium Community Center, and manag ed it until the mid-1970s. Joe enjoyed assisting families with their speci al events held at the Center. Mr. Buechler derived much pleasure from a ll the people he met while working for Lueptow's Furniture Store and Apple land Orchards. He was a longtime member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in H oly Cross, a 50-year member of the Catholic Knights, the Holy Name Societ y, and also belonged to the Belgium Senior Citizens. Joe enjoyed playing s heepshead, hunting and gardening and giving all of his produce awa y. He devoted much of his time to helping care for and visiting the sick a nd elderly.He is survived by his daughter, Mary E. (David) Schimberg of Belgium, thr ee grandchildren, Melissa (Mark) Reddy of Riverdale, Md., and Jacalyn a nd Ryan Schimberg of Belgium. He is further survived by one sister, Sylv ia Ternes of Six Corners, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephew s, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his wif e, three brothers, Edward, Artur and Frank Buechler, and two sisters, Leo na Stauber and Verona Schaller.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father James Ernster on T hursday May 29, 2003, at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Parish Holy Cross Chap el in Holy Cross. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation wi ll be at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 N. Royal Ave., Belgium, on Wednesd ay May 28, from 4-8 p.m., and Thursday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. A parish vig il service will be held on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
