    Van Boxtel, Anthony "Tony"
    Anthony "Tony" Van Boxtel, Little Chute, age 80 passed away Monday, Augu st 30, 2004 at Appleton Medical Center following a brief illness. He was b orn September 3, 1923 in the town of Oneida and except for military servic e, spent his entire life in the Fox Valley. He married his high school swe etheart, Lorraine Van Deraa on June 6, 1946. He was employed by Kimberly C lark Corporation (later Midtec and Repap) from 1941 until his retireme nt in 1986. Tony was a long time member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Ch urch in Little Chute. Tony was especially proud of his military servi ce in World War II and was a longstanding member of the Jacob Coppus Ameri can Legion Post #258, Little Chute and Kiwanis Clubs.Tony always had a kind word for everyone and devoted a great part of his l ife to charities such as the March of Dimes. When anyone spoke of Tony th ey would say he was a man with a gentle spirit and a heart of gold.He is survived by his son, Randy, Little Chute; his daughter, Lori Weye rs and his son-in-law, Gary Weyers, Kaukauna; his beloved grandsons: Ry an Weyers and his fiancee Angi Rechner and her daughter, Libby, Appleto n; Tim Weyers, Kenosha; his three sisters: Mary Daniels, Dallas, Texas; Be tty Baeten, Little Chute; Carol (Richard) Horn, Larson; his brothers: J im (Judy) Van Boxtel, Kimberly; Larry (Jan) Van Boxtel, Prior Lake, Minnes ota; special friends: Judy and Mike Rietveld, Combined Locks; his sisters- in-law: Virgie Vandenberg, Cave Creek, Arizona; Grace (Roy) Schaumann, Osh kosh; Carol (John) Le Duc, The Villages, Florida; Joyce Lennert, Kimberl y; Peg (Wendell) Van Beane, Florida; Jeanne (Ed) Schaefer, Arkansas; his b rother-in-law, Tom (Karen) Van Deraa, Kaukauna; numerous nieces and nephew s.He was preceded in death by his parents: Jake and Hattie Van Boxtel; his b eloved wife of 56 years, Lorraine; his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Ar nold and Mararet Van Deraa; several brothers-in-law: Jack Daniels, Haro ld (Harky) Baeten, Erv Vandenberg and Wayne Lennert.Tony was a very special man. He will always be remembered for his gentle s mile and his love for life. He had a deep love for his family. He cared f or his wife, Lorraine with total devotion until her death in October of 20 02. He was a caring father, brother and grandfather. He lived to watch h is grandsons play basketball and baseball. In his younger years he coach ed his grandsons in Little League. He was the grandpa that went to all h is grandsons' school field trips and was known as "Grandpa Tony" to all t he children. In his later years, Tony loved to play cards and enjoyed h is weekly card games in Sherwood with his brother, Jim. Whether he w on or lost he was always known as "Lucky Tony". He loved to go out to e at and was often seen at his favorite restaurant Landreman's. He loved wat ching reruns of The Honeymooners and Perry Mason with his son, Randy. To ny enjoyed a wonderful summer and spent quality time with all of his famil y.Our dad was the finest man we knew. Though he faced many obstacles in lif e, his wife's final, lingering illness or his son's childhood bout with po lio he never lost his faith or his optimism for life. He was the best ro le model his children and grandchildren could have had. We love you so muc h. He will be deeply missed by his family and everyone who had the pleasu re of knowing him.Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 3, 2004 at St. John Nep omucene Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. In terment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may call at t he Verkuilen Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday with a Legion Prayer s ervice to be held at 7 p.m. and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday. Military r ites will be conducted by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258, Litt le Chute following the mass.A special thank you to Randy, his son for the wonderful care he gave our f ather after the loss of his wife our mother.The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to the ICU and hos pice staff at Appleton Medical Center for the wonderful care you gave Dad.In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in Tony's name to St. P aul Home in Kaukauna.
