    Obituary:
    Mrs. William Platt, Lucille Gr een, passed away unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, August 31st at Theda Cla rk Regional Medical Center at the age of 76. She was born December 17t h, 1919 in Appleton and had been a resident of Menasha since 1946. She w as the daughter of William and Blanche (Brady) Green. She was a gradua te of Appleton high-school class of 1937. She and Mr. Platt were marri ed September 20th, 1941. Lucille was a devoted and dedicated wife, moth er and grandmother who found time during her lifetime to serve the communi ty in addition to the family, relatives and friends. During World W ar II she was a nurse's aide at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. This w as followed by serving as a Red Cross Gray Lady and subsequent servi ce to the Red Cross as a blood bank worker, including chairperson of volun teers. She and her partner Dorothy VanLoo were among the first delivere rs of meals on wheels. This was followed by more than 20 years of servi ce with the Theda Clark Hospital auxiliary. She was still active at the t ime of her death. While her two daughters were growing up, she serv ed as a Brownie leader and cochaired the Buttes des Morts grade scho ol in Menasha PTA with her husband. She taught Bible school at St. Timoth y's Lutheran Church in Menasha while her children were growing up. The fam ily was a member of St. Timothy's from 1946 to 1972 and at St. Paul's Luth eran Church in Neenah since 1972. She sang in both churches choirs for ma ny years and was active in the Lutheran Church Women's Organization, havi ng held of all offices from Circle leader to chair person between the t wo churches. Her civic activities included poll worker, a jury duty, a nd Friends of the Menasha library. She also served on the board of direct ors of the Visiting Nurse Association as well as the Red Cross. She lov ed the change of seasons, particularly fall, and flowers of all kinds. S he will be missed by all who knew her. Survivors are her husband Willia m; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Susan) Petersen, of Glendale, and Nan cy M. Platt of Appleton; two brothers, Donald (Blanche) Green, of Applet on and Robert Green of Kimberly; three grandchildren, Mark William Peters on of Milwaukee, Kristen Elizabeth Peterson of Glendale and Heidi Platt Su ke of Appleton. Also survived by a brother in law Richard Platt (Billi e) Rojean of Dayton Ohio, a sister in law Mrs. Dorothy (Robert) Gruen of H edgesville, West Virginia, a former son-in-law Paul Suke of Appleton. S he was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Blanche Green and h er oldest brother Marvin Greene of Appleton. The funeral will be Wednesd ay at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Neenah with the Rev. All an Krabbe officiating. Entombment will be in the Highland Memorial Park Ap pleton. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial gifts be giv en to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, the American Red Cross, Ne enah- Menasha Chapter and Theda Clark Hospital Auxiliary student scholarsh ip program.

    Lucille married Platt, William Fred 20 Sep 1941. William was born 11 Oct 1918, Racine, Racine, Wisconsin, USA; died 1 Apr 1998, Menasha, Winnebago, Wisconsin, USA; was buried , Star Of Hope Mausoleum At Highland Memorial Park, Appleton, Wisconsin, USA. [Group Sheet]
