    Everett A. Rooyakkers, Appleton, age 78, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 19, 2011. He was born November 25, 1932 to the late George and Cecilia (Vandenberg) Rooyakkers. On May 15, 1954, he married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Lind, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly and together they celebrated 46 loving years. The couple was blessed with six children. Following Margaret's death on October 19, 2000, he was united in marriage to Mary Kay Krause on January 4, 2003.
    Everett was a US Army Veteran stationed in Norfolk, Virginia during the Korean War and a member of the American Legion. He was employed as a paper tester with Kimberly-Clark/Midtec in Kimberly for over 20 years prior to serving as a rural route mail carrier for the Appleton Post Office. He was an active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Appleton. Everett enjoyed traveling, woodworking, and gardening; he especially loved the simple things in life: long walks in the woods, holidays with family and friends, singing, music, and spirited conversation.
    He will be sadly missed by his wife, Mary Kay; his children: Cindy Van Handel, Don (Tina), Patti (Davor) Grgic, Becky (Mark) Bowe, and Jon (Lisa); step-daughters Sarah (Philip) Collareno, Barbara Krause, and step-son Lawrence Krause; 11 grandchildren: Mike, Nicole, and Katelyn Van Handel; Alan, Filip, and Neven Grgic, Katie and Patrick Rooyakkers; and Nathan, Lindsay, and Evan Rooyakkers; 2 step-grandchildren: Case and Kevin Collareno; four siblings: Cora Ulmen, Theresa Bongers, Ceil (Ray) McCormick, and Leo Rooyakkers; brothers-in-law John (Betty) Lind, Walter (Lois) Lind, and George (Phyllis) Staidl; sisters- in-law, Helen Rooyakkers, Audrey Rooyakkers, Mary Jo Rooyakkers; Ethel (Maury) Brockman, Bernice (Jack) Lind, and Dorothy (Ron) McIntire; son in-law Bob Van Handel; lifelong friend Andy Wenninger; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    In addition to his first wife and parents, Everett was preceded in death by his son Danny Rooyakkers, siblings and in-laws: Peter, Paul, Henry (JoAnn), Tony, Francis, George, Bernadette, Mary (Dick) Van Lanen, Ray Bongers, and Carl Ulmen.
    The Funeral Mass will be held 11 am Saturday, October 22, 2011, at ST. PIUS X PARISH, 500 W. Marquette St., Appleton. Father Thomas Farrell and Father Robert Vandenberg will officiate. Everett's family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Saturday from 9 am until time of service. Following the service full military honors will be performed. Inurnment will be at Holy Angels Cemetery, Darboy. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Everett's name is being established
    The family wishes to express a special Thank-You to Dr. Travis Kroner and the staff at Appleton Medical Center for their compassionate care.

    Daniel P. Rooyakkers, age 48, died Sunday, June 20, 2004 at the Northern W isconsin Center for the Developmentally Disabled in Chippewa Falls, whe re he has been a resident since the age of four. He suffered a grand mal s eizure during his sleep. He was born June 15, 1956 to Everett A. Rooyakke rs and the late Margaret (Lind) Rooyakkers.
    Danny is survived by his father, Everett (Mary Kay) Rooyakkers, Appleto n; five siblings: Cindy Van Handel, Appleton; Don (Tina) Rooyakkers, Gre en Bay; Patti (Davor) Grgic', Elkhart Lake; Becky (Mark) Bowe, and Jon (Li sa) Rooyakkers, both of Appleton.
    A private service will be held.
    The family would like to express its gratitude to the numerous dedicated a nd loving caretakers who took care of Danny throughout most of his life. T hey provided him with a happy and carefree life. Now he rests with his mot her in heaven.
