    Fischer, Mathilda R, AppletonAge 97, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2003 at Peabody Manor. She was bo rn on April 28, 1906 in Hilbert, WI to the late Henry A. and Anna M. (Gree n) Gloudemans. She was married to Leo R. Fischer on August 28, 1928. Mathi lda was a loving mother, an excellent cook, and homemaker. She was a compe titive Life Masters bridge player and an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Bart S tarr was her all time favorite sports hero.Mathilda is survived by one daughter and five sons: Joan Laes Giuliani, Ja ck (Carol) Fischer, William (Janet) Fischer, Raymond (Carol) Fischer, Mich ael and Charles Fischer. She is further survived by a sister Mary Hobbin s, and a sister-in-law Germaine Gloudemans. There are also 18 surviving gr andchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her pare nts, she was preceded in death by her husband Leo R. Fischer, who di ed on July 12, 1962; a daughter Mary Ann Jack, five brothers Andrew, Raymo nd, Alvin, Norbert, and an infant brother Willard; and a sister Ethel Merk el, a grandson David Jack, a great granddaughter Payton Fischer, two sons- in-law Joseph Giuliani, and Paul Jack.The funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday May 17, 2003 at 10: 00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Appleton with the Rev. Michael O’Rour ke officiating. Interment will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemete ry in Appleton. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM un til the time of the mass.     Fischer, Jack J.On Thursday, September 30, 2004, Jack Joseph Fischer died peacefully at Ch erry Meadows Hospice. Jack was born to the late Lee and Mathilda (Gloudema ns) Fischer on November 16, 1930, in Marshfield, WI.Jack graduated from Appleton High School in 1948 and was a 1952 gradua te of Lawrence College. He served in the U.S. Army Counter Intelligen ce in Philadelphia until being honorably discharged in 1954. Jack marri ed Carol Zelinske in Menasha on January 23, 1954. They celebrated their fi ftieth wedding anniversary in January of this year.Jack taught in Edgerton, WI for three years and began teaching in the Appl eton school system in 1959, retiring in 1990.He will be missed by his three daughters and four grandchildren: Linda a nd her husband, Thomas Retson and their children, Gregory and Anastasia, W ilmington, NC; Susan and her husband, Jan Hansen and their children, Em ma and Samuel, Cedarburg, WI; and Ann Smiley, Milwaukee, WI. Other fami ly members include: his sister Joan Giuliani; brothers William (Janet) Fis cher, Michael Fischer, Raymond (Carol) Fischer, Charles Fischer; his aunt s, Mary Hobbins and Germaine Gloudemans; and numerous nieces, nephews, cou sins, and their dear friends that meant so much to him.
    He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Ann Jack.Jack enjoyed golfing, fishing, curling, and playing bridge. He thorough ly loved his involvement as high school reunion chairman and the committ ee activities. Jack was the kind of person who quietly offered his time a nd support to family and friends, especially in times of need.The family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors and nurs es at AMC and Cherry Meadows Hospice for the kindness shown to us. For th is reason, in lieu of flowers, we ask the memorials be made to a fund f or Cherry Meadows that will ensure that all those in need may be able to s pend their final days in this wonderful facility.     William George Fischer, 80 of Appleton died Saturday August 23, 2014 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Marshfield, WI; February 11, 1934, son of the late Lee and Mathilda (Gloudemans) Fischer. Bill married Janet (Olm) on October 5, 1957. Throughout their 57 years together, Bill and Janet were a successful team, through good times or when faced with a challenge, they both relied and believed in each other.
    Bill and Janet were both Appleton High School Alumni "class of 1952". He played football, ran track, and was all state in his senior year. Bill was a retailer to his soul. A true "people" person, he enjoyed having a conversation with anyone whom was open to receiving his kind smile. He began his career working at Gloudemans Department Store. He and Janet started their own adventure and built a wonderful business, Fischers Boyswear in downtown Appleton. For many years, Fischers was the Levi jean capital of Wisconsin. Bill was very proud of his involvement in organizing the downtown Appleton Christmas parade. For many years Bill walked next to the Santa float, enjoying all the smiling faces on College Avenue. He took special pride at being the Grand Marshall of the parade on two occasions. Bill's family were his closest friends. His greatest pride were his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. They were all perfect in his eyes, and could do nothing wrong.
    Bill is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Janet; his two children, son Steven (Melanie) Fischer, and daughter Lisa (Marty) Knuppel; five grandchildren, Allison (Kurtis) Belongea, Brittney Fischer, Jacob Knuppel, Anna Fischer, and Alexandra Fischer; sister, Joan Giuliani; and brother Raymond (Carol) Fischer; sister-in-law, Carol Fischer; brother-in-law, Ken (Shawn) Olm; his close friend, J.R. Olm; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was further preceded in death by his granddaughter, Payton Lynn Fischer; nephew, David Jack; three brothers, Jack, Michael and Charles Fischer; sister, Mary Ann Jack; brothers-in-law, Walter Laes, Joseph Giuliani, Paul Jack, and Robert Olm; and sister-in-law, Catherine Olm;
    Visitation for Bill will be held on Tuesday August 26, 2014 at ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 S. State St, Appleton beginning at 3:00PM. The Funeral Mass will follow at 5:00PM with Fr. Bill Swichtenberg officiating.
    Bill's family would like to thank the kind caregivers at Heartland Hospice, and Home Instead, their assistance through this journey was a blessing. And a special thank you also to all the gifted physicians and staff whom have supported and provided such wonderful care to Bill over the years, Dr. Judd Pulley, Dr. Gene Rigstad, Appleton Cardiology, and Fox Valley Surgical.     Michael "Mike" L. Fischer, 71, of Appleton, died peacefully at home Sunday, October 11, 2009, with his loving family at his side. He was diagnosed with cancer a short time ago, and was spared by God of a long painful battle. He was born on May 24th 1938, in Marshfield, WI, to the late Leo and Mathilda (Gloudemans) Fischer. His family moved to Appleton when he was a young boy, and he spent most of his life there.
    Mike spent most of his life in the hospitality business. He retired this spring spending the last years of his working life running the State Street Grill. Before that he was owner/operator of The Apple Pub on College Avenue. Back in the 1960's he and his brother Raymond opened The R&M Lounge which later became The Lantern after Mike became the sole proprietor. It was a popular night spot on College Avenue during the 1970's which featured live entertainment several nights a week. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, reading, playing cribbage, traveling and spending time with friends.
    Preceded in death by his parents Leo "Lee" and Mathilda "Till"; brother Jack Fischer of Appleton, WI; sister MaryAnn Jack of Appleton, WI; and brother Charles Fischer of Los Angeles, CA.
    Survivors include three sons: Jeffrey Fischer and partner Thomas Whalen of San Francisco, CA; Timothy Fischer and partner Ron Shaw of Chicago, IL; and Bradly Fischer and wife Lois (Heilmann) of Green Bay, WI; sister Joan Giuliani and friend Lyle Ratzburg of Appleton, WI; brother William "Bill" and wife Janet of Appleton, WI; brother Raymond and wife Carol of Cary, NC; and sister-in-law Carol Fischer of Menasha, WI. He also has many nieces, nephews, friends and very special friend Tyler Schnese and his mother, Karen.
    Special thanks go out to ThedaCare Hospice from all of the Fischer family, for the loving care given to Mike in this trying time.
    A Funeral Liturgy for Mike will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2009, at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 S. State Street, Appleton. Fr. Michael K. O'Rourke will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
