    Obituary:
    Elaine Beattie, age 85 of Neenah, passed away surrounded by her family, at her home on Wednesday morning, February 4, 2015. Elaine was born in Appleton on August 25, 1929, daughter of the late Matthias and Anna (Fischer) Hoffmann. She was a 1947 graduate of the Appleton High School. She attended Fox Valley Technical Institute where she studied data processing. As a young woman she taught dance in Waupaca, Freedom, Kaukauna, and Menasha. She was also active as a Physical Education teacher at St. Joseph School in Appleton and was a teachers' aide to special need students at Highland, Huntley, and McKinley schools in Appleton until her retirement in 1997. Elaine loved to play Bingo, going out for lunch (especially with the Birthday Club), and until her eyesight gave out, reading. Elaine was a loving grandmother who doted on each of her grandchildren, and was an important part of their upbringing. She was always there with an encouraging word, hugs and kisses galore, or maybe a scratch on the back.
    Elaine is survived by four children: Jane (Jesse) Schiltz of Neenah; Patrick Beattie of Neenah; Frank (Ginger) Beattie of Neenah; and Sue (Mark) Tillman of Neenah; twenty grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; a brother: Richard (Joann) Hoffman of Marshfield; and two sisters: Doris (Cyril) Stadler of Appleton and Sylvia (LeRoy) Sauer of Appleton; three sisters-in-law: Dorothy Hoffmann, Ina DeCleene, and Jean Baumann; and two brothers-in-law: Jerry Kettner and Cliff Apitz. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Maxwell, a brother Matthias Hoffman, Jr., sisters Mary Kettner and Virginia Apitz, and her in-laws: Nancy (Herbert) Byatt, Nick Baumann, and Vince DeCleene.
    The funeral liturgy for Elaine will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, February 13, 2015 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger Street in Neenah, with Fr. Richard Allen officiating. Inurnment will be in Appleton's St. Joseph Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the church on Friday morning from 10:30 AM until the time of the mass.     The family would like to thank the many people who made Elaine's final days more comfortable. They include the special angels at Heartland Hospice, those who are connected to Lifting Up - Appleton, and all of the family and friends who have sent everything from prayers to meals for our family.     Obituary:
    Sylvia M. Sauer, 85 of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at home surrounded by her family.
    Sylvia was born July 25, 1931 preceded by her parents Matthew and Anna (Fischer) Hoffmann Sr.
    Sylvia attended St Therese Elementary School 1st through 9th grade and graduated from Appleton West in 1950. On September 25, 1952 Sylvia married Le Roy Sauer and was a stay at home mom and home-maker. She enjoyed an organic, holistic lifestyle and was a resident of Appleton most of her life. She was a much valued charter member of her parish, St. Thomas More and enjoyed helping many hours at church for 40 years with bulletins, bingo nights, and funeral dinners. Going to Florida for 4 months, January to the first of May, from 1997 to 2007 was one of her life enjoyments. She loved spending the holidays with family and friends, especially putting up all of the decorations at Christmas time. The years of camping, traveling, including trips to Hawaii were also her cherished pleasures.
    Sylvia is survived by a loving husband of 64 years Le Roy and children Linda Knapton, Gary Sauer, Thomas Sauer and by her granddaughter Jennifer Knapton. She is furthered survived by one brother, Richard (Joan) Hoffmann; one sister, Doris Stadler and brothers-in-law Cliff Apitz, Cy Stadler, Richard Zemke and sister-in-law JoAnn Chase.
    Sylvia was preceded in death by her daughter Sandra; one brother, Mathias Hoffmann; three sisters: Virginia Apitz, Mary Kettner, and Elaine Beattie; two brothers-in-law, Jerold Kettner, and Maxwell Beattie.
    Visitation for Sylvia will be held Friday, March 24th, at Valley Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at St. Thomas More Church, 1810 N. McDonald Street on Saturday, March 25th from 9:00 am - 10:45 am followed by the funeral Mass at 11:00 am with Father Gerald Falk officiating.
    We would like to thank the Caregivers, Nurses and all of the people of St Paul Elder and Hospice Services who gave her the support and special care, honoring her values and wishes for her in her final stage of life.
