    Jansen, Gertrude, (Techlin)A ppletonAge 97, passed away Monday December 29, 2003 at Oakridge Gardens Nursing C enter. Gertrude was born November 17, 1906 in Appleton, the daughter of t he late Henry and Emma (Gruenke) Techlin and has resided in Appleton a ll of her life. She was united in marriage to Dallas Jansen on August 3 0, 1925, sharing 69 years together before his death on September 21, 199 5. Gertrude and Dallas owned and operated The Radio Shop in Appleton f or 33 years. Following their retirement they pursued their interest in lap idary work, which led to many trips throughout the country. Gertrude w as a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church. She was a former member of t he church choir, a past president of the Women's Missionary Society, a nd a member of the church Visitation Group. She also served on the Applet on Girl Scout Council and was a member of the Appleton Gem Club. Gertru de is survived by two daughters Janette (Ed) Pirner of Appleton and Joa nn (Bob) Hubbell of Canon City, CO.; a sister-in-law Sylvia Techlin of App leton; five grandchildren Gary (Sherry) Pirner, Mark (Barbara) Pirner a ll of Appleton, Ronald Pirner of Menasha, Scott (Janice) Hubbell of Denve r, CO., and Brian (Sue) Hubbell of Spokane, WA.; ten great grandchildre n; and two great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husba nd, Gertrude was preceded in death by a brother Henry Techlin Jr.Gertrude had a deep abiding faith and is dearly loved by her entire famil y. A memorial service will be held 11AM Wednesday December 31st at the Bre ttschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel with Rev Chuck Fluegel Officiat ing. Private entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. A memor ial fund has been established for the music department at Zion Lutheran Ch urch.

    Janette M. Pirner, loving wife and mother, died peacefully in her Appleton home on Wednesday, February 28, 2013. Janette was born on July 29, 1927 in Appleton. She was the daughter of the late Dallas and Gertrude (Techlin) Jansen of Appleton. In 1947, she was united in marriage to Edward Pirner in Appleton. The couple enjoyed 61 years together until his death in 2008. Janette had a career in teaching which she maintained throughout her life. After moving to Aurora, Colorado in 1957, then Seattle, Washington in 1961, and finally Stamford, Connecticut in 1964, Janette and Edward eventually moved back to Appleton in 1965. Janette was also a water color artist and found joy in her creative efforts with local art instructors and fellow artists. In their earlier years, she and Edward spent many happy times traveling together.
    The Christian faith was very much a part of Janette's life and activity. She was a choir member, committee member and an active member of Lutheran Churches throughout her life, even with every new home around the nation she and Edward created. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Appleton.
    Janette is survived by three sons and their families: Gary (Sherry) Pirner, Mark (Barbara) Pirner, and Ronald Pirner; 6 grandchildren: Brian Pirner, Kristin (Jason) Byerly, Petra (Kevin) Aubrey, Greta (Murray) Froelich, Nicholas Pirner, and Elizabeth Pirner; 6 great grandchildren;
    A funeral service for Janette will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, March 5 at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit at the funeral chapel on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of service. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park.
