    VANDEN BOOGAARD, MATHIAS J. "MATT"
Matt Vanden Boogaard, age 93, of Kimberly, was surrounded by the love of his family when he entered into eternal life on Saturday, February 4, 2012. Waiting to greet him was his wife of 65 years, Marian, two sons-in-law, his parents, brothers and sister and many other relatives. He was born May 29, 1918, in Kimberly, the son of Henry and Frances (Ver Voort) Vanden Boogaard. Matt was a very active man and was especially involved with his church, the community and the William Verhagen American Legion Post #60 of Kimberly. Obituary:
Asman, Patricia M. - God peacefully took our Wife, Mother, Grandma, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Niece, Godmother, Friend, Patty Duke and Rockstar to be a special angel on the morning of March 1, 2017.
We know why she was put on this earth. Considering the 34 years she protected children in the Village of Kimberly as a crossing guard, the thousands of trips to the nursing home to care for her parents, Bernard and Audrey Vanden Boogaard, being a guardian for her younger brother Bob after their parent's death, on top of raising a family and being a wonderful wife, it is clear that she was placed here to guard and care for us. But that was nothing yet.
Even after being given a tough diagnosis of leukemia and fighting it with all the side effects that 27 chemotherapy sessions over the next five and a half years would bring her, she continued to take care of people. She attended more of her grandkids games than seemed reasonably possible, made hundreds of frosted and sugared cut-out cookies every year, and lightened the day of the nurses who took care of her.
When she had time to take care of herself she loved to hold and go to rummage sales, have 'learning sessions' with her breakfast group, and take out other friends at lunch. She loved going to country music concerts, traveling anywhere anyone would take her, and watching TV and keeping track of the celebrities, especially Nashville series and Leukemia and Lymphoma Society chairperson, Charles Esten.
We will fondly remember her determination, persistence, pride, humor, spoiling, 'opera' singing, Culvers, tacos, and Tootsie Pops.
While she only was on this earth 67 years, we should not feel that she did not live a full life. In fact, she probably lived more than most, and we believe that is shown by the number of people she impacted and share our love for her. Regrettably, we couldn't possibly list them all, but you know who you are.
She is loved by her husband of 46 years, Tom, her son Jeff and Kelli Rindt, and her son Randy and Anne and her grandkids Grant (Buddy), Michael (The Man) and Claudia (Sweetie Pie). She is loved by her brothers and sisters: Mary and Lenny Milton, Kim and Laurie Vanden Boogaard, and Bob Vanden Boogaard and sister-in-law Sherree (Jim), and their children.
She is too loved by Tom's brothers and sisters: Dave and Maria Asman, Mary and Steve Arend, and Russ and Lynne Asman and their children.
She has joined her parents, her brother Jim, and brother Garry and sister-in-law Jackie, and Tom's parents Roy and Effie, in heaven.
We know we are not alone in our love for her. We invite all those who knew her to celebrate her life on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Jansen Fargo Funeral Home, 204 E. Dick Vanden Boogaard, age 64, of Kimberly, entered into eternal life on Thursday, October 24, 2013. He was born February 20, 1949, to Mathias and Marian (Melendy) Vanden Boogaard. Dick spent many years working for the Village of Kimberly and ended his career as the Street Commissioner upon his retirement in 2009. Later, he was employed at Avis where he made many new friends. Dick was proud to be from Kimberly and spent his entire life residing there. While he was proud of the work he did, he was most proud of his family and friends. Dick enjoyed spending time watching his son coach college basketball, taking his daughters out to lunch and going on "Sunday drives" with his wife. When with his wife and children, Dick glowed. But he loved nothing better than being a grandpa. And what an amazing grandpa he was! Whether it was out playing ball or reading books, Dick took pride in being called "Grandpa."
Dick was also a man who enjoyed giving of his time to not only his community but also to the Walk 4 Autism. Throughout his years, Dick was an active member of the Holy Name Athletic Association as well as the Boy Scouts of America where he served as a scout master. Dick had many annual traditions that included attending the WIAA Boys State Basketball Tournament, going on fishing trips with friends, attending the Indianapolis 500 and celebrating Christmas Eve with a quick stop to a local tavern to enjoy generations of family members and a shot of blackberry brandy.
On June 27 of 1970 Dick married Mary Lou Van Asten and together they raised four children. Mary Lou and Dick spent 43 years of marriage together.
He is survived by his wife Mary Lou (Van Asten) Vanden Boogaard, their four children; Tracy (Jim) Schommer, Kimberly; Brad (Julee) Vanden Boogaard, Clarendon, TX; Polly Vanden Boogaard, Kaukauna and Laura (Alex) Smith, Combined Locks. He is also survived by three grandsons, Reece and Phin Schommer and Jax Vanden Boogaard (due in December). In addition, Dick is survived by four siblings; John (Pat) Vanden Boogaard, DePere, Kathy Hurst, Appleton; Kris Gerhardt, Appleton and Dave (Kathy) Vanden Boogaard, Little Chute. Dick is also survived by his wife's sister and brother-in-law, Gail (Dave) Vanderloop, Kaukauna as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Matt and Marian Vanden Boogaard, his father / mother -in-law, Clayton and Lorraine Van Asten and two brothers-in-law, Dick Hurst and Bill Gerhardt.
The Funeral Liturgy, a Celebration of his life, will be at NOON on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at HOLY SPIRIT CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 East Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly, with Father Dave Pleier officiating. Friends may call the Jansen Fargo Funeral Home, Kimberly on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and directly at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com
