    Technical Sgt. Monroe A. Romenesko, Blackwell Street, Kaukauna, is returning home under the Army demobilization plan. Romenesko entered the service in April, 1941, as a member of the 32nd Red Arrow Infantry Division. In the last year, Romenesko saw action in three major campaigns including the bitter fighting in Lorenz, where the Red Arrowmen drove the enemy back inch by inch. Awards held by Romenesko include the Distinguished Unit Badge, the Asian-Pacific ribbon with four battle stars, the Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal and the Philippine liberation ribbon.

    Monroe Albert Romenesko, Kaukauna, age 90, died at home surrounded by his wife and loving family on Sunday, November 23, 2008. Monroe was born January 5, 1918, to the late Walter and Eva (Schmalz) Romenesko. He was a WWII Army Veteran serving 4 years, 4 months, and 4 days in the Pacific Theater. On February 1, 1947, he was united in marriage to Lenora V. Hafner in Appleton and together they celebrated nearly 62 years of marriage. Monroe was employed for 34 years at Kaukauna Electric and Water Department until his retirement, and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Worker for 63 years. He was an active member and past Chaplain of the Kaukauna VFW Post #3319, and a proud member of and Scout Leader for over 50 years in the city of Kaukauna. Monroe enjoyed playing cribbage; he and his good friend Ed Kaphingst won city cribbage championships.
    He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Lenora; his eight children: Linda Veldman, Milwaukee, Daniel (Marilyn), Wilmington, Delaware, Denise Romenesko, Milwaukee, Melita (Lowell) Prickett, Kaukauna, Eileen (Dennis) Valukas, Racine, Mary Van Rooy, Ashwaubenon, Walter (Cindy), Neenah, and Nora (Bryan) Snyder, Green Bay; 13 grandchildren: Cathy (Ken) Oppermann, Denise Veldman, Andres (Bobbi Jo) Veldman, Ruth (Jeremy) Peterson, Melissa (Craig) Kehoe, Brian Prickett, Molly Prickett, John (Krisi) Valukas, Emily Valukas, Ethan Van Rooy, Ian, Laura, and Sarah Snyder; 15 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Martha Jacobs, Germaine St. Arnold, Marie (Richard) Powers, and Francis Hutton; two sisters-in-law: Mildred Romenesko and Mildred Romenesko. He is further survived by his wife's brother and sisters: Eileen (Werner) Drefs, Dorothy (Richard) Lassegard, Marlene Yaksich, and Don (Jill) Hafner; a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Hafner, a brother-in-law, Louis Baehman, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law, Thomas Van Rooy, two grandsons: Lukas Veldman and Joshua Prickett, five brothers: Michael, Lloyd, Leon, Orrin, and Mark, and numerous in-laws.
    Monroe's Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer St., Kaukauna, with Fr. Marty Fox officiating. Friends will be received on Tuesday at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Parish Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. concluding the evening and again on Wednesday directly at Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Monroe's name is being established. 920-766-2099.

    Lukas H. Veldman, age 16, fo rmerly of Kaukauna, died Friday, December 3rd, 1999, as the result of an a uto accident. Lukas was born in Waupun on June 15th, 1983, the son of Lin da Romanesko and Dennis Veldman. He was currently a sophomore at Nathan H ale High School in West Allis. Lukas was employed by Stein Garden and Gif ts, and all who knew him know how he enjoyed his work there. He also enjo yed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his many friends. Survivo rs include his mother, Linda Veldman of West Allis; his father, Dennis (Pa m) Veldman of Bristol: three sisters and a brother, Kathy (Ken) Opperma nn of Columbus, Denise (Jason) Stadtmueller of Kaukauna, Andrew Veldm an of Kaukauna, and Ruth Veldman of West Allis; a stepbrother, Joel (Lan a) Krogh of Burlington; two stepsisters, Melissa (Robert) Romaine of Las V egas; and Allison Larson of Bristol; seven nieces and nephews, Christoph er and Nicolas Oppermann, Paige and Hailey Veldman, and Krista, Tamara, a nd Adriana Stadtmueller, his maternal grandparents, Monroe (Lenora) Romane sko of Kaukauna; his paternal grandfather, Howard Veldman of Hancock; a nd his paternal great-grandmother, Myrtle Glenzer of Stevens Poin t. Funeral services for Lukas will be he ld at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday December 7th, 1999 at Trinity Lutheran Chur ch in Kaukauna with Reverend Thomas Nickelbein officiating. Internment wi ll be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

    Prickett, Joshua P., Kaukauna, Age 20, died Thursday, May 29, 2003 at Cherry Meadows. Joshua lived his life with one purpose: To Live with The Lord. Joshua was born July 11, 1982 to Lowell and Melita (Romenesko) Prickett in Kaukauna. He enjoyed Science Fiction and was a great movie buff. Joshua was always concerned for his family and prayed that they would not be sad for him during his 19-month illness.
    He is survived by his parents Lowell and Melita; his grand parents, Monroe ( Lenore) Romenesko; two sisters: Melissa (Craig) Kehoe and Molly Prickett; a brother, Brian Prickett; two uncles: Daniel (Marilyn) Romenesko and Walter (Cindy) Romenesko; five aunts: Linda Veldman, Denise Romenesko, Eileen (Dennis) Valukas, Mary Van Rooy and Nora (Bryan) Snyder; and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his uncle Thomas Van Rooy, and his cousin Lukas Veldman.
    The memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2003 at MOUNT OLIVE EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 930 East Florida Avenue, Appleton with Rev. Leon Ehlert officiating. Friends will be received on Sunday at Church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place at Allouez Cemetery, Green Bay. In lieu of flowers memorials should be directed to the American Cancer Society, small cell research or Fox Valley Lutheran Tuition Assistance Program. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home is assisting the family. 766-2099.
