    John F. Schwalbach, age 81, of Appleton, passed away at Cherry Meadows Hospice, with his family at his side on Thursday, October 8, 2009, following a lengthy illness. John was born on March 27, 1928, in Appleton, to the late Edward and Katherine (Dietzen) Schwalbach. He married Rita C. Maher on October, 12, 1951; she preceded him in death on September 21, 1976. John married Verna Wilharms in March of 1978; she preceded him in death in December of 1990. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952, serving in Korea and earning a Bronze Star. He then was employed at Miller Electric Manufacturing Company as a Production Supervisor for 33 years, retiring in June of 1984. John enjoyed gardening, word search and cross word puzzles. He was well known for helping neighbors and friends, and was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers.
    Survivors include his children, Mary Hawkinson, John M. (Joan) Schwalbach and Edward G. Schwalbach (Special Friend, Dawn Conant); his grandchildren, Kari (Pete) Hawkinson-Briones, Jason (Theresa) Schwalbach and Crystal Thorpe; his great-grandchildren, Conner and Ramsey Briones, Tyler and Kylee Schwalbach and Logan Thorpe; his brothers, Edward, Richard and Raymond Schwalbach; his step-children, step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; and his Special Friend, Germaine Hansen.
    He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Schwalbach, his great-granddaughter, Brynn Louise Schwalbach; and his son-in-law, Scott Hawkinson.
    The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1617 W. Pine Street, Appleton, with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Appleton. A memorial has been established in John's name to benefit Cherry Meadows Hospice Care.
    The family would like to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you to the staff and many volunteers at Cherry Meadows, especially Sue and Carmen for the loving care our father received during his stay.

    John Michael "Mike" Schwalbach, age 55, passed away at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, January 18, 2011. Mike was born on March 30, 1955, to the late John F. and Rita C. (Maher) Schwalbach. He married Joan Hammer on May 21, 1977, in Menasha. Mike was employed as a salesman at Motion Industries, Appleton, for over 35 years. He was a well-known sportsman. For many years Mike was the Junior Varsity Soccer Coach at Menasha High School, Assistant Varsity Soccer Coach at MHS, and a member of the Menasha Area Soccer Club. He was an avid golfer, bowler and played in several softball leagues. He especially enjoyed the time spent with his grandchildren. Most of all, Mike enjoyed vacationing in Aruba each year with Joan. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Joan; his children, Jason (Theresa) Schwalbach, and their children Tyler and Kylee; and Crystal Schwalbach and her son, Logan; his sister, Mary Hawkinson; his brother, Edward G. Schwalbach (Special Friend, Dawn Conant); his uncles, Edward, Richard and Raymond Schwalbach; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Schwalbach; his grand daughter, Brynn Schwalbach; and his in-laws, Joseph and Lorena Hammer. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1617 W. Pine Street, Appleton, with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for his grandchildren's education. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of the physicians and nurses at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center for their loving care.
