    Obituary:
Rosemary Probst, age 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. She was born September 19, 1923 in rural Appleton. She lived on the property adjacent to her parent's home her entire life. She was the fourth of seven children born to Frank and Lena Dietzen. On September 10, 1949, she married Alois Probst. Their marriage was blessed with four sons and four daughters. In her early years as a homemaker, Rose kept busy cooking, canning, sewing and maintaining a chaotic household. When her youngest children went off to school, she took a job at Holy Angeles Catholic school running the hot lunch program. She truly enjoyed the time spent with the young students. She retired when Al got sick and cared for him. After his death in 1984, she cooked for the seniors at The Madonna House.
While Rose enjoyed many things, the real fun began in 1977. That year she was blessed with two granddaughters and became Grandma Rosie. 14 more grandchildren would follow for a total of 7 boys and 9 girls. She loved each one dearly and knew how to make them feel special.
She baked all their birthday cakes, which had to be perfect. There are countless pictures of each child grinning from ear to ear with Grandma Rosie and her cake creations. They loved going to her house. They all knew they would find fresh cookies in her cupboards and pickles in her fridge. She was a great seamstress and sewed outfits for them and made patchwork quilts for their beds. She left her grandchildren with a lot of great memories.
Rose also experienced joy in her later years as a great-grandma. She would cuddle those little bundles of joy as if they were her own, and to her they were. She was looking forward to Christmas with the little ones. She had already purchased a pile of toys and wrapped them.
The holidays at Rose's house were a special time that nobody wanted to miss. She always cooked a huge feast for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. The family crowded into her home and cherished the time together. After dinner, she enjoyed playing cards. Thanksgiving 2016 would be her last family gathering.
Our mother was the pillar of strength in our lives. We are so grateful to her for that. She instilled in us a sense of hard work and a commitment of service to others. She was a lifelong member of Holy Angeles Catholic Church in Darboy. She was very active in the parish picnic preparation and for many years helped prepare funeral dinners with her dear friend Mary Weyenberg and a wonderful group of other volunteers. She also enjoyed going out to eat with her VandeVoort nieces, Carol Diedrich and her cousins Theresa, Mary, Lorraine and Delia. She was also a member of Catholic Financial Life and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Rose is survived by her children: Roland Probst, Rita & Chuck Nelson, John & Debra Probst, Mary & Rich Daczyk, Ellen & Brian Starszak, Theresa Adrian & Jamie, Joe & Cathi Probst. Her grandchildren: Aurora Nelson, Melissa Probst & Corey Carter, Jonathan & Kaila Probst, Erin Bynoe & Scott Van Hulle, Lindsey & Tim Torbeck, Katrina & Sam Pakala, April & Todd Vosters, Danielle Daczyk & Grady Stewart, Sarah Probst & John Ploeser, David & Karter Starszak, A.J. Daczyk, Dylan Daczyk & Kenzie Gerhartz, Garrett Adrian, Ellie Probst & Ben Probst. Great-Grandchildren: Isabella, Elliana, Liam, Penelope, Nathan, Claire, Asher, Peter, Joseph, Tori, Camilla, Blake, Amelia, Charli, Sage and Eli. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband Al, son Leon and great-granddaughter Eleanor Pakala. We are comforted knowing they are all in heaven together. Brothers & Sisters: Clara and Ambrose VandeHey, Margaret & Robert VandeVoort, George & Betty Dietzen, Francis and Audrey Dietzen-Mader, Lawrence Dietzen, Donald & Kathy Dietzen. Her in-laws Clara & William Hoehne, Clement & Cresencia Probst, Erwin Probst, Carl Probst & Margaret Probst.
Visitation is Sunday, December 4th from 4pm-7pm at Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna. A parish prayer service at 7:00 p.m. will conclude the evening. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Holy Spirit Parish at Holy Angeles Church in Darboy with Fr. Walter Stumpf officiating. Friends may call directly at church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
