    News Mention:
    Fred Eichhorst, 65, father of Arthur Eichhorst of Reedsville, and town of Morrison, Brown county, farmer, is in a critical condition in a Green Bay hospital as a result of an accident on the farm of another son, Elmer, four miles south of Greenleaf.
    Eichhorst sustained a broken pelvis, possible skull fracture and internal injuries in a fall off a ladder. He and his son climbed the ladder to a beam in the barn. The ladder suddenly collapsed throwing both men to the barn floor. The pelvis injury was caused by a large pipe wrench which Eichhorst carried in a pocket of his overall suit.
    Eichhorst was taken to a Green Bay hospital, He was placed in an oxygen tent.

    Obituary:
    Fred Eichhorst, 65, town of Morrison, Brown County farmer injured when he fell from a ladder in the barn of Elmer Eichhorst, of Wrightstown, a son, died yesterday afternoon at a Green Bay hospital.
    Father and son were working on top of a ladder near the ceiling beam in the barn when the ladder gave way dropping both to the floor. The elder Eichhorst sustained fractured pelvis and internal injuries.
    Funeral services will be held Monday from the farm home and at two from the Zion Lutheran church in Morrison. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
    Mr. Eichhorst was born in Brown County in 1874 and in 1900 married Anna Wierschke. Three years later they located on the present farm.
    Survivors are the widow; six daughters, including Mrs. Henry Stever of Two Rivers; seven sons, including Arthur Eichhorst of Reedsville and Reuben of Kasson; two brothers, Henry of this city and Ernst of Morrison; and 71 grandchildren. The body is at the Eichhorst home in Morrison.

    Lyle Elmer Eichhorst was born on October 29, 1929, in Hollandtown, Wisconsin, a son of the late Arthur and Louise (Moschel) Eichhorst. Lyle grew up in Reedsville, Wisconsin, and married the former Mildred Meyer on October 29, 1955, in Reedsville. They enjoyed 32 years together. She preceded him in death in 1988. They lived in Oshkosh where he made his home until his death on Sunday, May 13, 2007, at the age of 77 years. Lyle graduated from Reedsville High School in 1946 and was the team manager of the Reedsville 1946 State Basketball Championship team. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea with the Co. C 44th Engineer Construction Battallion from 1953 until June of 1954. Having served in the Korean War he received the Korean Service Ribbon, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and Meritorious Unit Commendation/Emblem. He served as a Construction Foreman with the 98th Headquarters 8th Army. Following the Korean War, Lyle was a Union Sheet Metal Journeyman until his retirement in 1994.
    Lyle was a longtime member of Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. He served as Finance Officer of the Fox Valley Sheet Metal Retirees Club and the AmVets Post #7 of Oshkosh. Lyle was a loving father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather and good friend of many, who loved to volunteer for many organizations.
    His memory will be cherished by his sons: Bruce (Jean) Eichhorst of Kearney, Nebraska; Bart (Reba) Eichhorst of Sommerville, Alabama; Dean (Patty) Eichhorst of Neenah, Wisconsin; a daughter, Barbara (Michael) Fialkowski of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; siblings: LeRoy (Shirley) Eichhorst, Betty Anderson, Carol Siebert and Donny (Pat) Eichhorst; a sister-in-law, Dorothy (Allen) Eichhorst. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many very dear friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Allen Eichhorst; and a great-grandson, Liam Kortz.
    Funeral services for Lyle will be held on Friday, May 18, 2007, at 11 a.m., at Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1526 Algoma Blvd. in Oshkosh. The Reverend Jeffrey Berg will officiate. Interment with full military honors to be provided by the United Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Lake View Memorial Park Cemetery. The Eichhorst family will greet friends during a time of visitation and support at the Poklasny Funeral Home, 870 W. South Park Avenue in Oshkosh on Thursday evening, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and also at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. There will be a AmVets Memorial Service at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 6:45 p.m. A memorial fund is being established.
    Lyle's family wishes to thank the Doctors an Nurses from the Cancer Center and the ICU Staff at Mercy Medical Center for all of their special care during this very difficult time.

    Betty L. Anderson, age 77, of Appleton, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born January 19, 1931, in Hollandtown, daughter of the late Arthur and Louise (Moschel) Eichhorst. She married Vernon Anderson June 9, 1948, in Chicago, sharing 41 years together before his death May 6, 1990. Betty worked for Kimberly-Clark as a scheduler until her retirement in 1990.
    Betty was a member of Riverview Ev. Lutheran Church and was active in the Ladies Aid for many years. Betty enjoyed life, especially camping, fishing in Canada, attending country music festivals, polka dancing and playing cards with family and friends.
    Betty is survived by her children: Linda (Don) Gilbertson, Collins; Dallas Anderson, Redgranite; Diane Anderson, Appleton; Judy (Mike) Olm, Kimberly; Chuck Anderson, Kimberly; Paul Anderson, Appleton; Mike (Barb) Anderson, Appleton; Jeffrey (Lisa) Anderson, Oshkosh; 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: LeRoy Eichhorst, Sussex; Donald (Pat) Eichhorst, Reedsville; a sister: Carole Siebert, Reeds-ville; two sisters-in-law: Dorothy Eichhorst, Manitowoc and Jean Anderson, Brillion and special friends: Willard and Eva Paul, Dunbar.
    She was preceded in death by a son, Vernon Anderson Jr.; three brothers: Lyle, Allen and Fredrick; daughter-in-law: Shirley Anderson; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Charles and Eva (Schisel) Anderson; two brothers-in-law: Elroy Siebert and Donald Anderson; two sisters-in-law Shirley Eichhorst and Mildred Eichhorst.
    Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2008, at Riverview Ev. Lutheran Church, 136 W. Seymour St., Appleton, with Rev. Dennis Belter officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established.

    Roy E. Griepentrog
    Manitowoc Herald-Times (Manitowoc, Wis.) Monday, 2 Aug. 1965; transcribed by Marla Zwakman
    Roy E. Griepentrog, M, of 744 S. 26th St., Manitowoc, died Monday morning at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, of complications from a broken finger received in a Softball game about a week ago. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Wayside, the Rev. B. C. Gumz of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
    Mr. Griepentrog was born June 17, 1939, in the Town of Holland, Brown County, son of Norbert and Helen Eichhorst Griepentrog. He attended Wayside Zion Lutheran Parochial School, was a 1957 graduate of Reedsville High School and attended Carroll College, Waukesha. He was active in athletics both in high school and college. He married lone Gruening Dec. 26, 1960, and after the marriage the couple lived at Reedsville two years and since then at Manitowoc. He was employed at Invincible Metal Furniture Co., and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
    He is survived by his wife; a son, Gregory; a daughter, Swen, at home; his parents, of Wayside, two brothers, Roland and Glenn, of Wayside, a sister, Mrs. Wallace Piepenburg, of Reedsville, and nieces and nephews.
    Friends may call at Schwartz Funeral Home, Morrison, after 3 p.m. Tuesday until 11 a.m. Wednesday and then at the church. Memorials will be appreciated.
