    Bernard Tennessen, age 100, of Kaukauna, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Appleton Health Care Center. He was born on December 9, 1913, in Dundas, the son of the late John and Catherine (Peters) Tennessen. Bernard is survived by his children: Judy (Karl) Korth of Greenville, Cletus (Gail) and Ken (Laurie) Tennessen both of Menasha; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Tennessen; four young children: Josephine, Patricia, Phyllis and Francis; two sisters, a brother, and a grandson, Justin Tennessen.
    The funeral liturgy for Bernard will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH, ST. ALOYSIUS CHURCH, 2401 Main Avenue in Kaukauna. Fr. Jerry Pastors will be officiating. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Sherwood. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church from 10:00 am until the time of mass. She was born June 29, 19 20 in Woodville, WI the daughter of the late John and Katherine (Peters) T ennessen.Helen was a longtime member of Holy Cross Church and a crossing guard on L awe Street in Kaukauna for 20 years.She is survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Helen was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ervin Tennessen a nd a sister, Loretta Gerrits.The memorial funeral liturgy will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 8, 20 05 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with F r.     Four small children perished Thursday as their parents tried vainly to rescue them from a smoke-filled farmhouse at Sherwood, 14 miles east of here in Calumet County. The children were those of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Tennyson. Coroner John Knauf of Calumet County said they were asphyxiated after a kerosene stove exploded and sent clouds of smoke through the two-story frame structure, all the windows of which were closed. Damage to the house was limited chiefly to that caused by heat and smoke. According to Knauf, the parents were milking in their barn when Mrs. Tennyson noticed smoke coming from the direction of the house. Hurrying to the house, the father and mother saw flames through the windows of the first floor and shafts of smoke emanating from the door jams and window casings. Unable to get through the doors, they got ladders with which they reached the second floor where the children were sleeping. Climbing through a window Tennyson, removed the oldest child, Joseph, five, but was prevented by smoke from reaching the others. Volunteer firemen, summoned from Sherwood brought out the others - Patsy, 3; Francis, 2, and Phyllis, 5 months. All were dead when removed from the house, the coroner said.

According to a report the mother had lit the stove at 7 am to heat water then went to the barn to help with milking. She returned about twenty minutes later to find the house filled with smoke. She could not enter the house to call the fire department due to smoke. She drove to town to turn in the alarm. The firemen arrived with masks and entered the house finding three of the children in bed and one child on the stairs. Josephine, age 5; Patricia, 3; Frances 1½; and Phyllis, 5 months.

    Obituary:
    Dolores Katherine Neuser, age 71, of Hilbert, died on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. She was born March 16, 1945 in Kaukauna, daughter of the late Ervin & Mary (Loderbauer) Tennessen. She married Francis Neuser on May 11, 1965 at St. Francis Parish in Hollandtown.
    During the 51 years the couple spent in Hilbert, Dolores remained a faithful member of St. Mary Parish in Hilbert where she volunteered whenever and wherever she could. She also worked for a time in the deli at the Food Mart in Hilbert and sold Watkins Products throughout the area.
    Dolores' passion over the last years were her many crafts. She crocheted numerous lap robes for veterans and sewed pillows, place mats, pillowcases and other items which she gave away to numerous family and friends. She also enjoyed reading her numerous cookbooks even after she was physically unable to cook and bake anymore.
    With a kind and concerning spirit, Dolores always looked to help others in their time of need. She frequently reached out to people to lift their spirit in times of distress and always looked for ways to care for people in need.
    Survivors include her husband: Francis; her daughter: Nancy; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Church (Lois) Neuser, Agnes Baer, Bub Lieffort; and her very special cousins: Chuck (Julie) Loderbauer, Joan (Dave) McCormick and Judy (Karl) Korth. She is further survived by other cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who meant the world to her.
    Dolores was preceded in death by her parents: Ervin & Mary Tennessen; a sister: Mary Maile; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Helen Scheuer, Margaret (Jim) Kleiber, Marion (Lee) Counard & Gladys Lieffort.
    Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at St Mary Catholic Church (108 S. 6th St.) in Hilbert with the Rev. Michael Betley officiating and Dcn. Steve Vande Hey assisting. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at the Allouez Catholic Cemetery and Chapel. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 am until 10:45 am on Saturday, January 7, 2017.
    Francis and Nancy would like to thank the ICU unit nurses and Dr. Dogra at St. Elizabeth Hospital who made her last moments so comfortable and peaceful.
