Saturday evening arrived, after a long trip on the sea over England, Math Schampers (1858-1922) and (second) wife (1869-1945) and 5 children, from Horst; Jan Kleuskens and wife and 4 children, as Piet Kleuskens and wife from Venraai (Venray); and Math Keizers, from Horst, and Peter Vullings, from Sevenum. The latter two are both unmarried. Jan Rooskens, an 84 year old man, who was in the company of Mr. Kleuskens, died at arrival in Philadelphia. He was buried there. On his trip from Venraai (Venray) to Rotterdam, the old man traveled for the first time on a train. We hope the best for them in their new motherland.
    -----------------------------------
Math Schampers (1858-1922) died in West De Pere. He was married to Anna Gertrudis Baltessen in 1878. And later in 1893 to Johanna Anna Katharina Rutten. He traveled with 5 children from his first marriage and newly wed second wife to Amerika. His second wife later married to Johannes (John) Bies. John was born in st. Anthonis, Netherlands, and firstly married to Angelina van den Boogart in 1893 in Little Chute.
Jan Kleuskens (1842-1909) was married to Hendrina Mommen (1841-1912). They both died in Chicago, but lived some time in Brown county. They had 5 children living in 1893 according my database. I don't know why the number of 4 is in the article.
    - Peter 1869-1950
    - Maria Elisabeth (Lizzie) 1871-1956
    - Gerardus Jacobus (George) 1873-1940
    - Maria Petronelal (Nell) 1875-
    - Hendrikus Hubertus (Henry) 1877-1951
Jan Kleuskens had a brother Pieter Jan (Piet) Kleuskens. He was married in 1876 in Venray. But he and his wife died in Holland. They had no children. I think this is the Piet from the article, but am not sure as long as I don't have the passengerslist.
I am not sure who Math Keizers is. I think that he was married to Petronella Aerts in 1867. He died in 1909 in DePere. But then he was not unmarried as stated in the article. His wife died in 1908 in Horst, Netherlands. This Math definately emigrated in 1909 to Amerika. To one of his children who were already there. Maybe he did go in 1893 for the first time. To explore it. So far I did not find the passengerslist, to see if an age is mentioned. Math had 12 children, of them some emigrated:
    - Helena 1867-1935. She was married to Peter Joanens Nies. They emigrated in 1899, but returned to Holland. Their oldest son worked for the Volksstem some time.
    - Leonard 1869-1944. He died in Ashland and married Petronelal Marie (Nellie) Baeten, daughter of John Baeten and Elisabeth Berken.
    - Pieter Jan (John) 1872- . He emigrated in 1903. But in 1916 he was married in the Netherlands. Don't know if he returned definately or just temporarely.
    - Anna Maria (Marie) born in 1879. She emigrated in 1909. Don't know anything more about her.
If this Math Keizers is the same as the one from the article, he left his wife and 7 children in Horst, Netherlands, to explore the possibilities in Amerika. At some time he returned to his family in Horst. Probably not too long after his arrival.
Peter Vullings must be born in Sevenum in 1867 and died in 1950 in Grand Rapids. But I have him listed on the SS Rhynland in 1893. He traveled with Theodor van Rens and his wife in second Cabin. Did not find the others on this ship yet. By the way, Peter led a very adventurious life.
