    Obituary:
    Loretta Schaefer, 86, Green Bay, died Monday, July 26, 2010. She was born June 16, 1924, in the town of Holland, to Grover and Estella (Dorsey) Nies. On Aug. 19, 1945, she married Ralph G. Schaefer in Green Bay, and lived in the Green Bay area most of her life. Loretta graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing in 1945 and the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1947. She was a Registered Nurse and practiced public health in the Green Bay area for 30 years. Loretta was an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish and served as a Eucharist Minister and with the Welcoming Process. She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed her family. Loretta enjoyed playing golf, bowling and card playing. She was a member of the Women's Club of De Pere.
    She is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann and her husband, Bill Braam, Kiel; one son, Robert James and his wife, Cindy (Nowicke) Schaefer, Pewaukee; four grandchildren, Jana and Maureen Braam, Zachary and Drew Schaefer; one sister, Ann T. Johnson, Green Bay; nieces, Barbara Burkhardt, Carol Vandenbusch, Sue Kocken, Linda Schaefer Bassette; cousins; and a good friend, Lee Spletter.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; her parents, Grover and Estella (Dorsey) Nies; two brothers-in-law, Arthur B. Johnson and Leland L. Schaefer.
    Friends may call at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2771 Oakwood Dr., from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Friday. A memorial Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the church.
    In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established in her name to benefit Unity Hospice and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish.
    The family extends their appreciation to Fern Engebos, and to the staffs of Unity Hospice and Palliative Care and to Renaissance Assisted Living Community for their wonderful care. They would also like to thank the staff of St. Vincent Hospital 6th and 7th floors for making her last days comfortable.
