    Notes:

    Family History Researcher:
    From Bryan Kenna
The Tythe Applotments Books of Parish O'Gonnelloe show Lot McKenna as holding 5 acres at Ballyloughnane in 1827. Assuming that he was a responsible adult in order to hold such land, it would be reasonable to assume that he was born about 1790 which is the approximate birth of Patrick Old Ireland Kenna.
Michael O'Gorman wrote as follows;-"John Cooney (a friend of Michael's and a descendant of Patrick Old Ireland Kenna) pointed out that there is another Thomas McKenna somewhere in the woodpile: He was the son of a certain Lot McKenna and MaryMaguire, Ballybrohan. Maguire is a very unusual name in Clare, and I have no idea where she came from.Anyhow, they had issue;- ...." and then he went on to outline the children of this couple as listed by me. I can supply a piece of information which is that Mary Maguire must have been the sister of Thomas Maguire the schoolteacher who assisted so many of the local people, including our family who emigrated in 1841, to set up some connections in Australia before leaving Ireland."Michael went on " For some reason John remembers vaguely hearing of Lot Mc Kenna, probably because its an unusual name, particulalrly for a Catholic family. However Thomas does not seem to fit into the general scheme of things here, and it is my guess that he emigrated to Australia."
Michael O'Gorman again said regarding Lot,"Lot Kenna was living in his home townland of Ballybrohan in 1827, and I have a strong feeling that most, if
not all Kennas from that townland descend from this man."
1855 Griffiths Valuations show, regarding Lot,
    "Ballybroghan

I failed to get area and valuations.Lot's children were born between 1832 and 1854. He could have married in a bout 1831. He could have reasonably owned the above land in 1827. This would tend to say that he was not a very young man when he married. If he had been born between 1790 and 1795, he would have been bet ween 41 and 36 when he married. He could also have been a late and youngest of John Kinna which would bring his marriage age
down from the above dates.Add to the above the conflicting information that Lot McKenna and Mary Maguire were married in 1834
according to the O'Gonnelloe Church Register. There is a possibility that Lot Kenna in the Tythe Applotments in 1827 was a much older man and that Lot
who married in 1834 is a different person. (BCK 6/08/04)

Lot married Maguire, Mary Bef 1832, , County Clare, Ireland. Mary was born Bef 1814, Ballybroghan, County Clare, Ireland; died Bef 1914. [Group Sheet]
