Known as Gottleib. He may have changed name from Stannelle, but more likely simply corrected a bad spelling given out by U.S. immigration. Gottleib was confirmed at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Freyhan, Germany, on April 6, 1848. Gottleib and spouse left Hamburg, Germany, on March 15, 1862, on the vessel "Andrew" captained by B. Bohn. They arrived in New York on May 1, 1862. Information was found on a passenger ship list in the Fort Wayne, Indiana, Genealogy Library, listing them as Gottleib Stanelle (28), passenger #37, and his wife Beate. They settled in Waukesha, Wisconsin, for several years, working for Mr. Wagner, a prosperous farmer, who gave them some stock and supplies when they moved north to establish a homestead in the Forest Junction, Wisconsin, area. Two daughters had been born and died in Germany, and two sons had been born in Waukesha County, one dying there. Gottleib is believed to have had no brothers, and one sister who remained in Germany. However, an Anna (Krug) Stanelle, widow of a Reinhold Stanelle came to America with a young daughter, Pauline, and married Frederick Bloy on September 22, 1881. Daughter Pauline married Reinhold Knoespel on October 12, 1896, and had two children, Raymond and Alma Pauline. Anna, Pauline, and Alma Pauline are all buried at Forest Home Cemetary in Forest Junction, WI, but their exact relationship to Gottleib remains unknown.

Gottleib and Beate bought their first land in the Town of Brillion, Calumet County, Wisconsin, one mile north of Forest Junction (100 acres for $700) on January 4, 1865. Legal was W1/2 of Sw1/4 and portion of W1/2 of SE1/4 of Sec 5 Twp 20N Range 20E. In 1900, son Harry took over the farm. A daughter of Harry, Norma Stanelle, lived on the homestead until sometime in the 1980's. A log cabin was originally built by Gottleib on the homestead, until a large 22 room house was completed in 1887. Across the road and to the east, Gottleib purchased land and built homes for sons (Ada Elda) Arthur, Layman, and Albert. Albert died at age 23 though, and his brother Franklin married his widow and took over the farm. Franklin died also only 14 years later. Three of the farms were still being farmed by Stanelle's in the 1980's: grandson Bert farming the original homestead, and great grandsons Robert Arthur and Maynard on two of the other farms. The original farm is now on Schmidt Road in Forest Junction, just west of Highway 57. Forest junction was established in 1873 by the crossing of the Lake Shore and Wisconsin Central railroads.

It was at the homestead farm in 1894 that a vein of inflammable gas was tapped at 98 feet while drilling a well, throwing the drill 150 feet in the air. On May 31, 1900, Gottleib was the first one at the scene of the dynamite explosion that killed 6 members of the William Broehm family. The Stanelle's reminisced about these incidents and others at a family reunion in Appleton on August 25, 1968, attended by about 300 of the then 640 living descendants. Music was provided by a grandson of Gottleib, Frank Stanelle, Jr., and Ralph and Frank Stanelle III, of Neenah, known as the Tempo Tones.

The large home built by Gottleib on the homestead had the first electric lights in the County, the first furnace in the County, and the first hot and cold running water in the house. Gottleib also owned the first car in the County. Gottleib signed a Declaration of Intent for U.S. citizenship on November 1, 1867, and finally became a citizen at age 61 on April 9, 1895.

The funeral was held on Tuesday at 12:30 P.M from the Harry Stanelle home and services were held from Zion Evangelical Church in the village. Rev. A. F. Habermann read German services, while Rev. Herman Franzke of Seymour read English services. At the close of the services, the remains were accompanied to the family plot at Forest Home Cemetary. Pallbearers were Sullivan, Frank, Dewey, Albert, and Grover Stanelle, and Kurth Huebner, all grandsons of Forest Junction. Flowergirls were Margaret Stanelle of Chicago, Norma, Hattie, and Frances Stanelle, and Lucile Huebner of Forest Junction, all granddaughters. The funeral was one of the largest ever held in the vicinity of Forest Junction, evidencing in what esteem the old gentleman was held.

Mr. Stanelle was a devout member of the Zion's Evangelical Church (Founded 1866) and attended services there regularly until the last six years, when the infirmities of advance age interfered somewhat. He was a man who tried out progressive methods on the farm and he told the good word to his neighbors who followed his advices which aimed for betterment. In school and town matters he showed interest and while he never held an office he gave his support in other ways.

He leaves his aged widow, who will soon reach 85 years, one daughter (Selma) Mrs. Reinhold Huebner of Forest junction, four sons, Harry, Arthur, and Layman of Forest Junction, and Eberhardt of Chicago. Also 55 grandchildren and 20 greatgrandchildren. Two infant daughters died in Germany and an infant son in Waukesha. Two sons, Albert and Frank, and two daughters, Ida and Aspena passed away in Forest Junction.

January 24, 1919 - A memorial service conducted by the Rev. A. F. Habermann was held at the church here Sunday morning in honor of Gilbert Stanelle who was killed in action on October 13, 1918. Two soldiers, Amil and Harry Luckow, carried flags in a procession of eight cousins in the church, which was beautifully decorated with flowers and the Stars & Stripes. The name of Gilbert was added to the Calumet County Roll of Honor

World War II (1941-1945) The destitute condition of Germans living in their native land is portrayed in letters received by Mrs. Layman Stanelle from distant relatives who are living in the American sector of the city of Berlin.

Obituary:
Following an illness that had confined him to his home for over three months, Layman Stanelle, retired farmer, died 10 minutes before midnight last Saturday at his village home in Forest Junction. He was born March 28, 1869. His parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Gottleib Stanelle, original white settlers to the area. He attended the district school, forerunner of the present Holmes School. On attaining his majority, he worked for a season in lumber camps near Bessemer and Ironwood, Michigan, before marrying Miss Augusta Zietlow on October 27, 1892, when establishing their farm home for 38 years. Though declining all public office on account of defective education, he was a leader at farm activity, operating at one time 340 acres when smaller farms were still in vogue, and engaging in purebred Guernsey dairying. Surviving are the widow, four sons and five daughters, 33 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two brothers. Burial was in the church cemetery.

The following is from an Appleton, WI newspaper article that appeared on September 21, 1932, about the Forest Junction family, with family picture:

(Title) "Ten Boys and Six Girls Comprise Farm Family"

One of the most unusual gatherings held recently in Calumet Co. was the reunion of the Arthur Stanelle family, which consists of ten boys and six girls. The occasion was the sixieth birthday of Mr. Stanelle, who is known as Calumet Co. "clover king." The children range in age from 6 to 35 - five are married. One of the boys teaches school, and two attend high school. The Stanelle homestead consisted of 400 acres but was divided into three farms by Arthur's father, Arthur, Laymon and Harry each receiving an equal portion.

All 16 children were born on the homestead and were educated in the public school at Forest Junction. It required a large bobsled to bring them all to Sunday school and church, and the family occupied five pews in church. The boys constituted a complet baseball team, and five of them were members of a basketball team. In speaking of providing for the family larder Mr. Stanelle said, "It required from 2800 to 3000 pounds of pork and an entire beef, besides many chickens on special occasions during the course of a year. It was not unusual to see from seven to nine hogs hanging in a row at hog-killing time."

Between 400 and 500 large cans of fruit are preserved yearly, and 100 bushels of potatoes are consumed during the year. Mrs. Stanelle has spun the wool and knitted the stocking caps and sweaters for the family. A large double washing machine is required to do the laundry. Hattie usually did the ironing, and she thought something was amiss if she did not have from 22 to 25 Sunday shirts to iron and at least an equal number of workday shirts, besides aprons, dresses, and underwear. Upon special occasions, such as confirmation, any clothier would rub his hands in glee after having fitted out seven of eight of the Stanelle boys, and those selling women's goods felt equally elated after the sale of four or five dresses.

An extension table with 18 chairs graces the Stanelle dining room. From seven to eight chickens, five to six pies, and all other trimmings and dressings are required for a Sunday dinner at this home. Like their father and mother, the children are pictures of health. The Stanelle's take an active part in all civic movements and politics. Mr. Stanelle has threshed as much as 400 bushels of clover seed in one season. With his husky crew of ten boys, 40 loads of clover have been hauled into the barn in a single day.

The following article was printed in the local paper upon the death of Ada Elda Arthur Stanelle:

Arthur Stanelle, life-long resident of this community and for long years one of the most energetic promoters of community enterprise, died at his home here about 2:30 Sunday afternoon after a long illness that had confined him to his home since last spring. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon from the home with a service at the Evangelical Church at 1:30 conducted by Rev. Philip Schneider, local pastor, who was assisted by the Rev. J. P. Dorau of Fond du Lac, and the Rev. G. H. Blum of Appleton. Born in a log house here on June 21, 1872, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gottleib Stanelle, pioneer settlers here, and he grew to manhood as the community was developing.

His energetic disposition and keen interest in affairs placed him in numerous positions of leadership, and, in connection with operation of a farm, he was associated with a variety of farm and business organizations. Among these was a canning company at Dundas, the Stanelle Auto Co., which constructed the first garage here in 1915, a Farmers' Equity, the Calumet Telephone Co., the Farm Bureau, the local fire department, and a community club, erecting a hall here in 1922. In addition,he served as a school clerk in his district for more than 15 years before resigning. He was town treasurer for a time over 30 years ago, and was still a town constable at the time of his death. Survivors include the widow, the former Anna Kloehn, six daughters, ten sons, three brothers, and 13 grandchildren. Burial was in the family plot at Forest Home Cemetary.

September 10, 1925 - Arthur Stanelle of Forest Jct., Kurt Huebner and Christ Miller of Cato, Max Gohre and son Ernst of Hilbert, autoed to Forest County Monday in Mr. Huebner's Hudson Sedan, returning the same day after a trip of 368 miles. At Seymour and Shawano, the party made a short stop and as usual, Mr. Stanelle started talking politics, upholding Bob LaFollette, Jr., as our next Senator. Mr. Stanelle found lot of willing ears in each city. The crops in the northern counties are fairly good, but they are not like Calumet County crops. Mr. Stanelle was surprised to see so much small corn, and in the northern part of Shawano, Langlade and Forest Counties, he surely did admire the large trees. Kurt Huebner and Art Stanelle jointly closed a deal in Forest County for about 40 car loads of logs. The party returned home that night well pleased with the trip but tired from the long ride.

May 21, 1926 - Neighbors have been assisting Arthur Stanelle at a vast earth hauling project to a spot where he will be erecting a large new barn this summer. The new building will replace two old barns, landmarks on the place, which were torn down about a month ago. About 700 2-yard wagon loads of red clay have been hauled at an average rate of 100 loads per day.

In 1944 and for years prior, most of the Stanelle clan were known to be members of the Zion Evangelical United Brethren Church in Forest Junction.

Besides running a farm, he was associated with the Dundas Canning company and a garage in Forest Junction. He was once trea- surer of the town of Brillion and for many years was clerk of school district No.5. At the time of his of his death, he was constable of the town of Brillion. The following is an excerpt from an article that appeared in a Danville, Illinois, paper on March 15, 1973.
Eberhardt G. Stanelle doesn't make a lot of demands, but he made one last fall. "I want to vote," he said. Election commission representatives drove out to Danville Care South, where Stanelle has been a resident since February, 1970, and helped him with the process. Age 95 at the time, he is believed to be the oldest person ever to register to vote in Vermilion County. Stanelle, always a Republican, cast his fist vote in a presidential election for McKinley, his last for Nixon. Though he suffered a paralytic stroke in January, 1970, he reads (the only time he wears glasses) two daily newspapers, numerous news magazines, and at least a chapter in his bible every day. It was the stroke that brought him and his wife from Chicago to Danville, so as to be near a daughter. His wife, the former Frances Faga, died in 1971.
Stanelle approved of the way that Nixon handled the Vietnam War and believes opening the door to Red China is the President's greatest accomplishment. He feels the space program is wrong and fills the atmosphere with "trash" that messes up the weather and other things in nature. When it comes to social problems, Stanelle feels people today rely too heavily on the government to take care of them.
Stanelle was guest of honor last week at a 96th birthday party hosted by his daughter at Danville Care South. Highlight of the party was a surprise greeting from President and Mrs. Nixon, signed by the President. It, along with the envelope, is being framed for his room.
Stanelle celebrated nearly 68 years of marriage before his wifes death. He was born in Forest Junction, WI, in a log home his parents built from timber cut from their own land. When he was 10, they moved into a new 22 room home on the property that his parents also built. At 17, he left home for North Central College at Naperville, IL. After completing schooling, he worked as a railroad telegrapher in Park Siding, Michigan, a virtual wilderness 60 miles from Lake Superior. In 1901 he came to Chicago to study engineering.
He didn't get around to retiring until 84. His first job after completion of his engineering course was with Automatic Electric Co., a Chicago-based, English-owned plant then only four years old. When the Union of Operating Engineers attempted to keep him out of the Union, Stanelle brought suit against the Union and won, a verdict so unusual that it was featured at length in the Chicago papers. Stanelle left Automatic Electric at age 78, after 51 years of service. Retirement was so boring to him he took part time work with the Acme Resin Co. of Forest Park, IL, leaving that job at age 84.
Before his stroke, Stanelle loved walking, fishing, traveling, and reading. He never owned a car. That caused difficulty only once, when during a transit strike in the Chicago area he found himself eight miles from work. He walked at first, then purchased a bicycle and used it until the strike was ended. A staunch supporter of education, Stanelle even sent all his daughters to college even though that was not the norm at the time. Once the children were grown, the Stanelle's traveled extensively throughout the United States, occasionally crossing borders into Mexico or Canada. They were never inclined to go abroad as they felt there was too much to see right here in this country.

Brillion News Death Notice - Suffering a stroke at her home at 3 o'clock last Friday afternoon, Mrs. John Keller died at 6:30 that same afternoon. Following her routine household tasks that day and preparing for a camping trip on the morrow, death came unexpectantly. She had lived in this community her entire life, married on May 12, 1920. The widower and six children survive. Burial took place at the local cemetery Monday afternoon, with a service at the tabernacle at the Evangelical Camp Ground, at which funeral addresses were delivered by the Rev. W.L. Zeller, local pastor, and the Rev. G.H. Blum of Appleton.

Hattie M. Haas, 99, Seymour, died peacefully early Sunday morning, April 24, 2005, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home. The daughter of the late Arthur and Anna (Kloehn) Stanelle, was born Jan. 7, 1906, in Forest Junction, Wis. She married George A. Haas, June 21, 1930, in Forest Junction. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1981. Hattie was a full time homemaker, raising and caring for her large family, including many foster children. She and her husband farmed for many years in Kaukauna, then moved and continued farming in the Black Creek area. Hattie enjoyed cooking, baking and babysitting. She was a member of the Cicero United Methodist Church and was active for many years in projects throughout the church. She also enjoyed crocheting for her friends. Hattie loved her large family and many friends. She enjoyed visiting with everyone. She will be missed by all.
Survivors are her six children, Ruth (Vern) Brusewitz and Ruby Kloehn, both of Neenah; Rosemary (Brian) Schroeder, Jane (T.J) Landwehr and Joyce (Douglas) Buttles, all of Seymour; and Art (Jane) Haas, Black Creek. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Lois (Larry) Samardich, Hurley; two God children, Gordon McChain Jr. and Kevin Buttles. Also survived by two sisters-in-law, Carolyn and Arlene Stanelle, Milwaukee.
She was preceded in death by ten brothers and four sisters; one grandchild, Marcia Brusewitz; and one son-in-law, Calvin Kloehn.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, 358 S. Main St., Seymour, Tuesday, April 26, 2005, from 5 to 8 p.m. The visitation will continue Wednesday, April 27, 2005, after 10 a.m. at United Methodist Church, Seymour, 721 Pleasant Way in Seymour, until the time of service. Funeral Wednesday 11 a.m. at the church with the Reverend Dr. Bener Baysa Agtarap officiating. Burial will be at the Seymour City Cemetery. Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, is in charge of arrangements.

Aspenna Frances (Penny) Johns, age 94, of Forest Junction, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012.
She was born June 18, 1918, in Forest Junction, the daughter of Frank and Charlotte (Stanelle) Zirbel. She attended school in Forest Junction. On September 18, 1942, Penny married Gordon Frederick Johns in Chicago, IL, who preceded her in death on October 22, 1967. She worked at many places through the years, including the White Clover Dairy in Hollandtown and Kaukauna Klub in Kaukauna. Penny was a long term employee of Ariens Company, retiring in 1983. She was a lifelong member of the Zion United Methodist Church in Forest Junction and was active in the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard, playing canasta, and baking for her family. Her coffee cake will be long remembered by all who enjoyed it. Penny loved spending time and energy with and for her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters: Charlotte (Ed) Wroblewski of Washburn, WI and Kathy (Jim) Kolbe of Chilton, WI; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren: grandson Ed (Sarah) Wroblewski and their children Charley, Henry, and Sydney of Savage, MN, grandson Mike (Becca) Wroblewski and their daughter Morgan of Lombard, IL, granddaughter Sara Wroblewski of Bayfield, WI, granddaughter Molly (Jake) Kolbe Dahl and their children Noah, Dawson, Ellie, and Landon, of Rushford, MN, granddaughter Lottie (Darrin) Kolbe Most of Madison, WI, and grandson Jesse (Ibeth) Kolbe and their son Nathan, of Appleton, WI. Other survivors include her sister, Mabel Feistel of Forest Junction; two sister-in-laws: Lou Zirbel of Menasha and Bona de Doty of Chilton, cousin and dear friend, Jeanette Rosner of Little Chute, additional cousins, and many nieces and nephews. All of her family was special to her.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Zion United Methodist Church in Forest Junction. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Becky Kindschi with burial at Forest Home Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday, July 6 at the Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The visitation will continue on Saturday morning at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m.

Mabel was born on June 10, 1922 in Forest Junction, daughter of the late Frank and Lottie (Stanelle) Zirbel. She married Melvin "Pat" Feistel on March 20, 1943 at Zion United Methodist Church in Forest Junction. He preceded her in death in 1961. Obituary:
Helena D. Richards Gander, age 96, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and devoted friend, passed away at her home, in Dane. She was born near Brillion, the daughter of the late Orvin and Sophie (Stanelle) Kreiman. Helena moved to Dane and married Claude Richards in 1941. They had five children, Claude Jr., Lloyd, Floyd, Carol and Claudette. Claude passed away from a heart attack in 1953. She later married Hubert Gander in 1955, who passed away in 1995 at the Maplewood nursing home in Sauk City, after a long illness. After working for several years at Madison Methodist Hospital, she had many cleaning jobs in various homes and businesses. Helena worked as a nursing assistant at a nursing home in Lodi for Ruby Thompson until it closed, and then continued at Lodi Good Samaritan nursing home for over 20 years. In 1990, at the age of 72, she retired to spend more time with her husband, Hubert, whose health was declining. The two of them had been caretakers of the Dane Immanuel Cemetery for over 15 years. Helena enjoyed genealogy, writing her life story, yard sales and bible study. But mostly she enjoyed and valued any time she could spend with her family.
In addition to her parents, Helena was preceded in death by her husbands, Claude Richards Sr. and Hubert Gander; two sons, Floyd and Lloyd Richards; a son-in-law, Donald Fuller; a sister, Minnie Kreiman; a brother, Albert Kreiman; five brothers-in-law, Frank Stedl, Harlan Kroening, Carl Breisch, Joseph Jagodinsky and Joseph Mazanec; and all of her husbands' siblings and their spouses.

Previant, Lois (nee Huebner) A long time Milwaukee resident, passed away on Friday September 9 2005 in Key Biscayne Florida at the age of 90.
She was born in 1915 in Milwaukee, the daughter or Luella and Kurt Huebner of Forest Junction. She married David Previant in 1942 and together they lived in Milwaukee, Shorewood, Whitefish Bay and then Mequon. With her husband, of the Previant Goldberg Law firm, who died in 1996, she was a supporter of the arts and literature, an enthusiastic traveler and a cultivator of many close and loyal friendships. The Previants had a second home in Key Biscayne for many years and she moved there permanently in 2003.
She is survived by her daughter Susan Lee and her husband Ken of New York City, and her son Jonathan Previant and his wife Barbara of Key Biscayne and three adored grandsons, Wilfred, Wesley and Lee Previant,. She is also survived by her Milwaukee nephew Wayne Huebner and his wife Judy, nieces Wendy Huebner of Minneapolis, and Carol Grossmeyer-Schwartz of Shorewood and great niece Rebecca Schwartz Truel and her husband Tim of Shorewood.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made in her name to the Children's Outing Association of Milwaukee.

Florence Anita Enneper, age 92 of Brillion, is now at peace, resting in Glory, having passed away on Friday October 6, 2017. She was the second daughter of six children, born on May 17, 1925 to John and Adelia (Stanelle) Keller. Florence earned her nursing degree from Bellin Memorial School of Nursing in Green Bay, and was enrolled in the Cadet Nursing Core, and used that degree both before and after her marriage, working in area hospitals and nursing homes. She married Walter A. Enneper on August 12, 1950. Together they raised 8 children in Brillion. She was also blessed with 38 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Florence loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, and showed it by hosting children's bible studies in her home, was an AWANA leader, and by faithfully attending worship services, most recently at Zion United Methodist Church in Forest Junction. She was also active in the Homemakers Club of Calumet County, attended ceramic classes for years and was a leader in the Brillion TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) class. Her greatest joys included cooking for her family and friends, sewing and traveling. Florence will be missed by her children, David Enneper, Donald (Janet) Enneper, Vonita (Larry) Burkey, Rhonda (Allan) Atkinson, Kenneth (Dahle) Enneper, Joan Lloyd) LaFave, Judy (Russell) Razmus, Roy (Patricia) Enneper, 38 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren, a sister Dorothy Bosserman and 2 brothers, Walter (Lois) Keller and Earl Keller. Cynthia Ann (Stanelle) Tienor passed away at Theda Care Regional Medical Center in Neenah on October 25, 2017 at the age of 69. Cindy was born April 8, 1948, the daughter of the late Donald and Mildred (Schmidt) Stanelle. Cindy was a graduate of Brillion High School and continued her education at Stout State University receiving a degree in Dietetics in 1970. She married her husband, Richard Emil Tienor, on October 9, 1971. He preceded her in death on July 18, 2012. While working as an Assistant Director of Food Service at Madison Methodist Hospital, she completed her Master of Science degree and her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Food Administration at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Throughout the years, she worked in the Food Administration business including time with the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture and as a Director of Food Management and Nutrition Services at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee. She then spent many years working at Aurora Credit Union in Brookfield, WI. Cindy loved her husband, cared deeply for her cats, faithfully sent out birthday cards, and enjoyed spending time at the cottage.
She was the dear sister of Judy (the late John) Springstroh; sister-in-law of the late Robert (Ruth) Tienor, the late LuAnne (the late Charles) Fischer, Patricia (John) Walter, Steve (Maddie) Tienor and Barbara (George) Apostolou; proud aunt of Tami (Jay) Ziegler, the late Brett Springstroh, Amber Springstroh, Jennifer Madrid, Jeffery Tienor, Alex Walter, Angela Walter, Anthony Walter, Aris Apostolou, Cassie Apostolou and many great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and Richard's parents, Emil and Florence Tienor.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Wichmann Funeral Home TRI COUNTY CHAPEL. 1592 Oneida Street, Menasha, with Pastor Dick Schaefer officiating. A private interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park.

Frank Stanelle, a lifelong Neenah resident, passed away at his home on April 14, 2014, at the age of 91. Frank was born in Neenah on March 28, 1923, son of the late Frank A. and Leona (Schmidt) Stanelle. Frank displayed a penchant for music from early on, beginning with playing the drums at the age of five. By the time he was eight, he had been invited to march with the Neenah High School marching band! On June 12, 1948, Frank married Eleanore "Phoebe" Luckow in Manitowoc. Together, the couple raised six children in a love-filled and music-filled home. During World War II, Frank worked in the Manitowoc shipyards, and also studied wood-working and design for some eight years, where he learned many skills which would prove to be valuable later in life. For thirty years, he was employed by Neenah Foundry as a wood pattern-maker.

If you knew Frank you knew of his love for music. He played drums, piano, and organ; and he loved to sing. His favorite song to sing was "The Laughing Song." He also had countless pastimes, which included camping, hunting, fishing, cribbage, golf, bowling, performing, making kites for the children in the summer time, and of course, enjoying a good Manhattan. He was good at making and model airplanes, and his only regret in life was that he never did get his pilot's license. Later in life, Frank became a Jehovah's Witness. Those that knew and loved Frank will always remember him to be fun, kind, poetic, and artistic.
He leaves behind his five loving children: Sharon "Sheri" (Rod) Buchen; Frank Stanelle, Jr.; Ralph "R.J." (Candice) Stanelle; Bruce Stanelle; and Darlene (Steve) Sourwine. He was adored by his fourteen grandchildren: Eric, Tait, Jessica, Chad, Bethany, Rebekah, Benjamin, David, Heidi, Jonathan, Daniel, Tori, Sierra, and Chet. There are also ten great-grandchildren: Blake, Emily, Grace, Cole, Tatum, Alex, Amber, Gavin, Zoey, and Lars; a great-great-grandson Theodore, and another great-great-grandchild whose arrival is expected any day. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Phoebe, a son Todd, his brother Harold, and his sisters Dorothy and Alma.
All are welcome to attend a memorial service to honor Frank's wonderful life, which will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Charles A. Stanelle, age 69, of Milton, died on Monday, June 29, 2015, at home. He was born in Milwaukee, on April 2, 1946, the son of Harry and Alice (Rosenau) Stanelle. He graduated from West Allis Central High School. He married Donna Ramin in Fox Point, WI on Aug. 6, 1966, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 25, 1991. Charles had been employed by Fagan Chevrolet. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Charles is survived by his children, Traci (Steve) Alm and Jonathan Stanelle, both of Milton; four grandchildren: Dustin, Amanda, Cody and Sara; other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Ruby M. Kloehn, of Neenah, age 79, absent from the body, present with the Lord, she went to her eternal home on Thursday, November 17, 2011 after a brief illness.
She was born in Kaukauna on April 17, 1932. As a small child, she moved to a farm in Black Creek. Ruby attended a country school and graduated from Seymour High School in 1950. On May 15th, 1954, she married Calvin Kloehn at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in the Town of Cicero. He preceded her in death in 1982.
Ruby was employed at Kurz & Root Electric before staying home to raise her two daughters.
She was a member of Calvary Bible Church in Neenah where she was a deaconess. Ruby loved children and was involved for many years in the Awana Club and Children's Church. Outside of church, she was a volunteer for the Share Program in the Community.
Ruby is survived by her daughters: Tami (Ed) Faulks, Amy (Chuck) Towns, both of Neenah; four grandchildren: Jacob (Carolyn), Grant, Peter, April and her fiancé, Ryan; a great-grandchild, Ethan; three sisters: Ruth (Vern) Brusewitz, Rosemary (Brian) Schroeder, Joyce (Doug) Buttles; a brother, Arthur (Jane) Haas; and a brother-in-law, Tom Landwehr.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Landwehr and a niece, Marcia Brusewitz.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Calvary Bible Church, 1450 Oakridge Rd., Neenah, with Dr. Harry Shields officiating. The visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Entombment will be in Shrine of Heaven Mausoleum. Jane H Landwehr, 73, passed away Thursday evening, Oct. 30, 2008, at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay. She was born May 13, 1935, to the late George and Hattie (Stanelle) Haas. On May 2, 1970, she was united in marriage to TJ Landwehr at Cicero United Methodist Church. Jane was a member of the Cicero United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, was a church secretary and mentored to many youth. She was a storyteller at local libraries and many schools and was a volunteer for the Family Violence Center. Jane was Volunteer of the Year for 2006 in Brown County. She enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and other children.
She is survived by her husband, TJ; her stepsons, Scott (Jill) Landwehr and Matt (Melinda) Landwehr, both of Walla Walla, Wash.; grandchildren, Katie, Ashley, Dillon and Brooke; her sisters, Ruth (Vern) Brusewitz and Ruby Kloehn, both of Neenah; Rosemary (Brian) Schroeder and Joyce (Douglas) Buttles, both of Seymour; one brother, Art (Jane) Haas, Black Creek; many nieces and nephews; her sisters-in-law, Nanci (Terry) Anderson, Spring Hill, Fla.; Mary (John) Zohlen, Edgewater, Md.; and Frani (Bill) Fraser, Denver, Colo.

Gordon F. McChain, Jr.
Gordon F. McChain, Jr., 70, of Glenbeulah and formerly of the Washington County area, was gently handed to the Lord by his family on Sunday, May 17, 2009.
He was born on April 30, 1939, in Milwaukee, the son of the late Gordon F. and Ruth F. (Stanelle) McChain, Sr.
On January 8, 1961, he was united in marriage to Rosa Ann DeShazer at Fort Wolters, TX.
Gordon was a graduate of Kewaskum High School.
He proudly served his country in the US Army for over 20 years, retiring on June 30, 1978, as a CW2. He served during the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts and was stationed overseas and throughout the United States.
After his retirement from the military, the McChain family made their home near the West Bend area and Gordon was employed by the Veteran's Administration for 20 years. After retiring from the VA, Gordon and Rosa Ann enjoyed ten years of recreational vehicle traveling, and Gordon worked part-time at Wal-Mart.
Gordon was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Batavia.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Rosa Ann; four children, Timothy T. McChain (Tammy) of Woodbridge, VA, Ruth A. McChain of Kewaskum, Nancy D. Zettler (Chad) of West Bend and Debra N. (Garett) Mielkie of Kewaskum; eight grandchildren, Gregory (Amanda), Julia, Laura, Robert (Jessica), Savannah, Morgan, Breanna and Justin; two brothers, James McChain of Kewaskum and David (Betsy) McChain of Milwaukee, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family and friends from coast to coast, including Hawaii.
In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by a brother, Russell L. McChain and a sister-in-law, Gloria McChain.
Funeral services for Gordon will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 21, 2009, at Zion United Methodist Church in Batavia. Rev. Gail Mitchell will officiate and burial, with military graveside rites by the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 Kewaskum, will follow in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Thursday, May 21 from 2:00 P.M. until the time of services.

Judith "Judi" Abel (Stanelle), 68, died peacefully on Monday, October 28, 2013 at her home in Bedford, New Hampshire. She was born on February 7, 1945 in West Allis, Wisconsin to Herbert and Mabel (Geyso) Stanelle. Judi grew up in Appleton, Wisconsin, and lived for many years in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. She graduated from Appleton High School in 1963.
Judi was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her spouse, Ken Kops; her sons Chad and Mark (Sue), also of Bedford; her grandchildren Soren and Henry; her brother Herb (Mindy) of Brown Deer, Wisconsin; her nephew Joel of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; her niece Laura of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and other close friends and relatives.
Judi worked for United Airlines, attended college for dental hygiene, and worked in multiple dental offices, but spent the majority of her life in the roles she held most dear, that of wife, mother, nana, aunt and homemaker. She valued most importantly sharing her love of Christ with all who crossed her path. She was also an avid reader, writer, and gift giver.
A remembrance celebration will be held at a yet to be determined date.
Her family thanks VNA Hospice (Manchester, New Hampshire) for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association of Southern NH Foundation.
