    Luebke, Russe ll W.Russell W. Luebke passed away at home on February 9, 2006, with his wife V iolet at his side. He was born on July 1, 1924, in Neenah, WI, son of t he late Edwin and Ella (Klenke) Luebke. The family moved to the farm in t he Town of Clayton in March of 1925 by way of a cattle drive through downt own Neenah with horses and wagons loaded down with household items. He gr ew up a farm boy, going to school and helping on the farm during the Depre ssion years. Russell graduated from Hickory Vale School, class of 1939.Through friends, neighbors, teachers, and his grandparents, Louis and Minn ie Klenke, he learned family ethics, honesty, and to be hard working. He w alked many miles behind a team of horses, helped with butchering, making w ood, milking cows by hand, planting and harvesting. He considered all t he people he worked for and with his "teachers" with his pay being $1. 00 a day including dinner and supper. Russell met the girl of his dream s, Violet Louise Blair on a blind date. After a whirlwind romance they we re married on April 26, 1943.A short eight months later he left home as a member of the United States A rmy serving during World War II and was stationed in Iran for 3 year s. He sent his entire pay home to Violet and did laundry, ironing, and wha tever else he could do to earn some cash for himself. Upon his return, Vio let had saved enough to purchase an acre of land in Neenah to build a hous e. Because wood was in short supply, they bought an old barn that Russe ll disassembled and used that wood to build their home. They started a fam ily and Russell worked at Eggers Hardwood, Neenah, for 25 years. In 1956 t hey moved to the Town of Clayton, and in 1968 he took over the family fa rm upon the death of his father. Russell milked his cows and did all his c hores up until January 23, 2006, with his final retirement from farming wh en the Lord called him home on February 9, 2006.Russell leaves behind his wife, Violet, of 62 years; six children: Jani ne (Roger Diedrich) Brantley, Richard (Janet) Luebke, Donald (Kristine) Lu ebke, Priscilla Spielbauer, Tina Luebke, Nancy (Terry) Pieper; 15 grandchi ldren: Robert (Cindy) Brantley, Andrew (Sherry) Brantley, Benjamin (Apry l) Brantley, Kelly Luebke, Richard Luebke, Jason ( Marie) Luebke, Joseph ( Angie) Luebke, Alice (Mark) Kilsdonk, John Clegg, Carrie Spielbauer, Aubr ey Krautkramer, Emily (Dan) Scott, Melanie Pieper, Carol Pieper, Lisa Piep er; great-grandchildren: Michael and Justin Zuiches, Skyler, McKenzie, a nd Kennedy Brantley, Matthew, Mason, and Jena Luebke, Alyssa and Joshua Ki lsdonk, Tate and Wren Scott, Brandon Hart, and Brianna Lepianka; and siste r-in-law, Lucille Luebke.He was preceded in death by his brothers: Daniel and Eugene; and a sister- in-law, Mabel.Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 200 6, at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, 3703 W. Fairview Road, Town of Clayto n, with Rev. Dale Zwieg officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a. m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will take place in C layton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established. Westgor Funeral Home 205 W. Doty Avenue Neenah 722-7151
